I am 47 and can't tie my shoes, and I homeschool! when I do it and double knot like I was shown (over and over) they always come undone, my kids do my shoes everyday! ha ha my dear hubby has been known to tie them numerous times. I have a hard time with the word numerous, but am thankful for instant spell check!

I enjoyed your tour and your morning, and as I go to wake my children for our first day back to school....I will think of you and smile thru their grumpies, and I will of course be on my 2nd cauldron of coffee! coffee is made from beans? is that a protein or a vegetable? not to hijack this thread
  5. I feel a huge weight lifted...I hide yummy things and eat them after they are sleeping or if they go out on break! oh goodness, what an empowering thread!
  6. a huge yeah to you all!! I gained 4, but was unable to walk for 3 weeks, and am back on the trail this week, and 2 already came off! so yeah all around
  7. I asked the teacher? He said, 30 minutes tops a day is great! they practice the same time as when he comes to our home on the off days! and I give no practice days for weekends :D
  8. school days up at 7, school at 8 breakfast and am chores grammar math break history/science vocab/spelling alek (math part 2) Spanish lunch and lunch chores writing reading independent work or computer work (typing or computer skills) after school chores done by 3 latest, because I am empty about 1pm! ha ha and fake it for a few hours we school Monday thru Thursday during regular school year
  9. :w00t: we don't have a dishwasher! For some reason, just never made it in our homes thru the years. My kids do all the dishes! I only will do the ones that must soak and I do that before I go to bed.? The wash, dry and put away each meal! We have a schedule that we worked out together! They all work together, loud thumping music, and laughter...I used to be part of it, teaching them how, and now and again, I get in the mix, but they really are a well tuned machine!! Every now and again, I go after dinner, no chores, mom's night! The cheers and kisses are worth it...but I don't do it often...ha ha
  10. I read the books and wowza, that is waaaaaaaaaaay more organized then I can be, but I did get some good knowledge out of it! I did a blog post (with pictures) of my crazy schedule and how I do it...please pop over and giggle with us!
  11. bh aha I work them all day!! am before chores, after lunch chores, after school chores, before dinner and after dinner chores! and then make them do school in between mwha ha ha ha
  12. we are square oaks academy our dining room table square oak! lol my favorite is when people ask my kids where they go to school and adults answer, Oh I have heard good things about that school! tee hee
  13. I jokingly tell folks, the flylady says to get up, shower, dressed and put on your face! I did that, looked in the mirror and said, girl, you need to go shopping, get out of this dirty house!! I left and went shopping! The thing for FlyLady is to be flexible! I clean my sink! love that for starting the day!! I did the zones and it worked, I did that for about 6 months, my house became clean and now I have older kids that don't know it, but are my slaves!! bha hahahaha

  15. back to Discovery Ed Streaming I have the whole package and did a search horrible histories and only thing that comes up is a segment of the holocaust.
  16. my eldest daughter twin a (11) does this, because she has no idea what she wants? the others know, have it cut out and labeled for Santa letters....etc but for some reason, Abby has no idea what to ask for and will just in a panic say, some item. what I have started doing is watching her, she loves to make things so I buy craft kits, she loves them we got her a karoake machine, and she has been on it every day since Christmas...she loves it... and right now, her and Dad are singing Sandy from Grease as a duet... she would have never ever had asked for it!
  17. 2 days a week, one hour each day...we do mon and tues...and this is including the fun hands on! We do movies during lunch or on rainy days....and field trips well, those are an all day adventure

  19. I put unreasonable, but? what questions? the test or the ones in the teacher's part? we do it in two days, but have extra reading involved? (3 kids -25th and one 6th) I read, and ask questions outloud, they do test on 2nd day, after narration and such. next year,they each will read on their own, and do independent, and I am expecting 2 days for it.

  21. a good way to have them really check shelves is to request them with another library card in your home! I sadly have found library books months after believing I returned, under a cookbook, one in my desk calendar, but our library kept renewing (sweet ladies who support our love of books) and I have found numerous ones we returned on their shelves...I go look for them...and they appreciate that too! good luck!!
  22. one week nov 3, 1989 first date, asked me to marry him 10 Nov 1989 married feb 25 1990 yep, 21 years ago! It was a good week! And an even better 20 plus years! ;)
  23. Yep! Just like Darcy!! but.......... I back up every month on to DVD, and I have an EHD I back up my pics, my scrapbook pages losing them would make me cry and probably vomit:tongue_smilie:
