  1. Do we want to adopt a 7 yold miniature (not toy) female poodle. Pros and cons, costs please. We need to decide soon and I'd love to bring home a rescue dog, but wonder about training. (She chews household items, but other than that is house trained.) I was thinking of a very tiny dog, but wonder if a miniature (around 12-15 lbs)would handle our winter weather a bit better.
  2. It's so easy...I'd just recommend picking up a simple all in one kit and go for it. They all contain directions, but basically the material has little boxes woven in. You thread your needle (no knots) and make an x. Try to make all your x's begin and end the same way. You can begin your stitches by making an \ and continue on per your pattern, then back track with the / or just make x after x following the pattern. Michael's, Walmart and any fabric store carry the kits. Get an easy one for kids and you'll be an expert before you know.
  3. Reading for pleasure and completing their lesson work daily. Picking up after themselves and keeping their rooms tidy. They both have good manners both in and outside of our home.
  4. I try very hard to purchase local crops, dairy, eggs and so on. They are a lot cheaper than the grocery store and very often organic.
  5. :grouphug:Big hug and prayers for the two of you.:grouphug:
  6. A beautiful frame to mark the special day or a personalized photo album would make nice keepsakes.
  7. They are safe, but too gross for me to stomach. I'd get rid of the offending egg, but eat the rest.
  8. The Youngest Templar, Keeper of the Grail The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe Tom Sawyer I'm less than thrilled with TS.
  9. Depends on your definition of could we afford it. Could we budget or barter for a cleaning lady...well yes...but would/could we spend those dollars on something else or save the money for retirement or college... Guilt... I've just never been able to wrap my head or heart around the idea of paying someone to clean my home, when I/we can do it. Couple that with how picky I am about toxic cleaning products, the way it should be done, and I'm left scrubbing the toilet or assigning the job to one of the kids..or asking dh. Luckily, we've arrived at a time where my kids are pretty darn helpful and I don't have to delegate and fuss to keep up with the house work. Modeling, training and patience went a long way to getting here. I'm also of the personality type that would very likely pre-clean and that would be a big waste of time and money. :001_huh: My vote...do what ever works best for you.:grouphug:
  10. You aren't the only one who dislikes it...I have to do it daily with my two or it piles up and drives me crazy. Grading papers is a chore to teachers in and outside the classroom. I've earned good money hiring myself out to grade papers in years past.
  11. We have the converter box with the coupon it was $9. I felt the need for storm coverage here. We also have cable, but that usually goes out when the weather gets snarky.
  12. I'm blessed to have a very large pantry and keep it well stocked. I don't buy the snacks or brands listed, but my local grocery bakery was on the list.:glare: That list is pretty long by my standards.:001_huh:
  13. We don't eat them, but the fresh ones from the Asian market are delicious. I try to avoid too much salt & msg, I grew up eating them:001_smile:.
  14. I'd top the crackers with cheese, peanut butter or something other protein. Everyone would just get their share. Milk goes a long way towards filling em up. Lots of kiddos like dipping things in peanut butter like apples, carrots, celery and so on. Maybe rethink snack time. Ants on a log, cottage cheese kids, tuna volcanoes etc. Keep it fun & filling.
  15. :iagree: Rice Beans Peanut butter Oats Eggs cheese frozen veggies potatoes
  16. It sounds worth the fuss of moving. A washer and dryer right inside your place is a blessing and little kids do love a loop.:grouphug:
  17. :grouphug:I feel your pain. I'm not sure what the right decision is, but hope it works out without costing you a fortune. My excellent, top of the line (read expensive) dishwasher died in Novemeber. It will be two-years-old on the 15th. They don't make em like they used to. Oh, and when my 4 year old washing machine broke down, I went with a Maytag top loader.
