  1. :iagree: Dd's math and science almost always take more than an hour to complete daily. Homework is expected daily:tongue_smilie:. To help, we took the time to work on her time management and study skills. She watched the Teaching Company DVD series...How To Be A Super Star Student in 9th grade.
  2. Could you do two of the three English hour subjects as first and second semester courses? You might also consider shortening the lunch break and swapping PE to the end of the day or get it done earlier depending on your student.
  3. :grouphug: All my real life homeschooling friends have flown the coop. This board is my only hs support, and I'm so thankful for the real people here.
  4. Mine was definately my fault, and it really cracked vs. exploding. But it was a scarry, dissappointing mess instead of dinner that night.
  5. :grouphug:Dawn:grouphug: I'm so sorry. I feel much the same way and sympathize beyond words. Fil died in July, he was worth the effort. We attended the funeral and now I'm just not able to see her. I struggle with my feelings, and it's hard to admit, but she is like a black cloud in our lives and I want a little peace.
  6. :iagree::iagree: And I'm sorry he's being so verbally belittling too.
  7. :grouphug: It seems to get harder and harder to find friends and appropriate / affordable activities as they get older. The beginning of each year can be really tough on them. Everyone else seems to be going off to new and exciting places and challenges while they continue on with the same teacher/mom and home time. The grass is so much greener...kwim? Think about trying your library for volunteer opportunities and clubs, 4-H, or Juliet GS for free to no expense social outlets.
  8. :grouphug: I'm sorry your stock has been stolen:glare:. btw...Locally our law states that if it's hanging in your yard it's yours. Do you have a law on the books there. I'm sure they'll help themselves next year, but maybe you could head them off.
  9. :grouphug: We don't start until tomorrow:001_huh:. I'm feeling behind and my reasons are nothing compared to yours.
  10. I'm glad I wouldn't be alone. I've been know to remind my sister to bring his meds.
  11. With a 2 month old in the house, I'd recommend sleep when ever you can. Your crew is little, don't stress on this change now.:grouphug: I do enjoy my morning quite time here, and the loss of a little sleep is worth it most days.
  12. He may need another dose...Hey we should set up a poll...Anyone ever unnecessarily medicate their dog?;) My sister's G'sheppard had to sleep in the tub during thunder storms due to his baggage.
  13. AP classes here are very popular, many students take them beginning in their freshman year because they're expected to. Coincidentally, a number of our local universities and state schools are not accepting them as credit anymore. They aren't rigorous and do not measure up...at all.
  14. Wow, I ordered the spiral version already. It's very pretty:001_smile:. Bump
  15. Mine are much older, but I learned early on to begin with math and LA...Focus on getting the must do subjects done first and the day flows much better. :grouphug:Kids go through all kinds of things and try lots of delay tactics. My normal routine was to ask questions. Do you need a snack? Do you need a nap? Do you want a shower and then begin again. Not doing the lessons was not an option. Hang in there and press on:grouphug:.
  16. I have them and love them...But, if you hang up a wet sweater, it can get a hanger bump. On dry sweaters, they leave no marks. Over time, I'm trying to replace all my hangers with them, but they're expensive. Anytime I find them on sale or clearance at Target, I grab them up.
  17. Thank you for the abridged version, Nan. I need a little inspiration this year, and maybe a detour going over my educational goals again.
  18. I say help him out, and if you want to be incognito...use your printer.
  19. Mine knock and run, and will leave anything on the front steps. They leave them when the total is huge or small; many times I wish they would wait for a signature. Your door bell can be disconnected with a little effort. I'm sorry the baby was disturbed again.
  20. I don't plan them, but the options are limited. Since I shop for the regular menu rotations, in a way it's planning, but nothing is set in stone. KISS keep it simple silly is my motto. I love left overs for lunch, so I cook intentionally.
  21. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:I'm sending cyber hugs and support; don't give us...keep looking and trying to find the answers you need. You might find you know more than the professionals, so don't discount yourself.
