  1. That looks like the new version of what we have.
  2. We still have a Black and Decker. It’s big enough to cook an Udi’s (gluten free) frozen pizza but small enough that I can tuck it in the pantry.
  3. I worry that my DS might not be a great guest, have great manners. But, I think with him it’s obvious that it’s an innocent obliviousness. This girl sounds a bit...manipulative.
  4. I know when we’ve had this discussion in the past that someone posted an article about some bone maturity that happens around 13/14 years that makes it a little safer regardless of size. My dd isn’t 5’, she’s never going to be 5’ tall but she sits in the front now with the seat as far back as it can go.
  5. Dd started sitting in the front when she was almost 14. DS is 12.5 and just started sitting in the front sometimes.
  6. I generally think that grains are not good for most people. But, I don’t like Perlmutter.
  7. Yes, I was going to say that you need the code. That happened to me once and I was actually using an Brother toner. I called them and they gave me the code. Good to know that you can likely find it online if you need it.
  8. Our studio is doing Coppelia on June 9th. They’ve been in rehearsals for a couple months but they’ve really ramped up the rehearsal schedule in the last couple weeks, added Friday night rehearsals and Saturdays from 12-6 in addition to her regular 9 classes.
  9. Yes, I always did that at Disneyland, the zoo, etc. I would also try to dress them in the same color.
  10. That’s true. We almost exclusively fly southwest so I forget about at fees. One way that I keep bags under 50lbs is to not use extra large suitcases.
  11. That is really not true. TSA procedures vary a great deal from airport to airport.
  12. Not specifically for safety but some thoughts on getting through the airport. Getting through TSA with ease, adults will want to wear slip on shoes (with socks), keep all the items that need to be removed from your bag in one compartment (some airports are now requiring that iPads and all food be removed). My personal preference is to check as much stuff as you can, they fewer bags you carry through the airport, the easier it is to keep track of things. When my kids were small they each had a wheeled backpack and now they each just carry a regular backpack. A backpack can also be nice for parents so your hands are free and you don’t have to worry about a bag sliding off your shoulder.
  13. On Sunday we got replacement bands for DD’s fitbit and squeakers for dog toys.
  14. I would start with H&M they have a lot of inexpensive professional clothes.
  15. I don’t think that COL can be discounted. We used to live in Kansas City and now we’re in SoCal. It’s just such a huge impact that it’s hard to describe. When we lived in KC I knew teachers (teachers married to other teachers) that were going to retire after 25 years (they weren’t even 50 years old), owned their homes and had rental properties. It’s just a whole different world.
  16. I live in SoCal NOW and I can tell you that kids adressing adults by their first name is normal and expected.
  17. My daughter has had Invisalign for a few weeks. It’s going well for her but she’s very compliant. Her regular dentist recommended them for her because she tends to have sensitive gums and he didn’t want her gums neglected with regular braces. Hers are really just cosmetic, she had her bite fixed years ago with a palate expander and a small set of braces. The first week of Invisalign was rough(pain) but it’s been much better since then. As far as time, my dd’s treatment is only 32 weeks, shorter than regular braces. She got 32 sets and she is changing them every week. Then she will wear the last one as a retainer. Hers really are completely invisible, I can barely tell when she has them in (even with several attachments).
  18. I just adore her. She helped my DS so much in understanding how his brain works. Let us know how your Dr visit goes. I really should do that for myself.
  19. I didn’t read any replies. I voted weekly and monthly. My hope would be that loving family that is that close (distance) would see each other more than monthly but the wording made it seem like the grandkids would be the ones that need to do all the traveling. In my family my parents or mil (all gone now) would have come to visit my kids at least once a week if they lived that close. ETA - my parents and my mil were fantastic grandparents. I would have put in a great deal of effort to make sure my kids saw them often. On the other hand, my fil is an asshat and I would be perfectly happy if none of use ever saw him again. Shrug
  20. No, I won the parenting lottery in that category. I can’t take credit, they came this way. Since they’re open to it though, I’ve tried to expose them to a lot of different foods.
  21. At our ballet studio, for class they would just keep it back with clips or bobby pins. For a performance it would be gelled back slick and a fake bun is pinned on.
