  1. I agree that there should be more options, but they did have a free with purchase of a pair of hot pink legwarmers for their rewards members!
  2. I thought it was just me! When I went grocery shopping two weeks ago, I was hoping to grab a few cans so I could do some fall baking, but they didn't have a single can in any size or brand! There wasn't even any pumpkin pie filling (which I wouldn't have bought anyway, but adds to my concern about finding it before Thanksgiving). I'm going to look again when I shop tomorrow, and now I know that if I find it, I should grab a few extra cans to get me through fall and the holidays.
  3. My 16-year-old still loves hers...she has a half dozen of them! Of course, I also love mine...the one I got when I was 10 or 11, and the one my children gave me for my birthday a few years ago. And I'm sure I'll also love Courtney, who I ordered this evening because I need to relive my childhood. 🙂
  4. We got the Soda Stream One Touch, and like it a lot. My in-laws tried the one that doesn't require electricity and weren't happy with it at all, so I'm glad we went with the upgrade.
  5. I have several new dinner recipes we're going to try, and I'm really looking forward to having something new!
  6. James Darren played a Sinatra-era singer on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine...I almost like him better than Sinatra sometimes!
  7. A Soda Stream...I don't care about soda, but I love carbonated water, and now I can make it whenever I want! Some cool beaded bracelets that have a stone made with earth from the shore of Lake Michigan...if I can't travel, at least I can have a little bit of one of my favorite places with me!
  8. My youngest is in catechesis. Last spring during the shutdown, there was a brief period of no classes while everyone got their bearings, and then we finished the year with Zoom class. This fall, we were given the option of in-person class or Zoom, and we're going to be continuing with Zoom mostly at the request of our family. Sunday school, however, has been suspended and continues to be until further notice.
  9. Last week, I wrote a blog post about this, because I wanted to make sure we remembered the good things that happened this summer, no matter how small, and not just the bad stuff.
  10. Not necessarily...there are some pretty large congregations, but they also tend to have larger pastoral staffs.
  11. Yes, the pastor is supposed to take the Sacrament to shut-ins, the hospitalized, etc. on a regular basis. This has always been true, but the Synod recently published a document regarding this time specifically because there were so many questions about how to proceed, and some churches trying to do their own thing.
  12. As far as I understand, in the LCMS it's still a no. Presanctified communion is not to be done. Doesn't mean some churches aren't doing it, but as far as synod is concerned, they're in error.
  13. The official statement of the LCMS is a big NO to online communion.
  14. And the very dry way in which he said it is perfect, right? I love that show, too!
  15. For dealing with people like that, I just keep repeating this quote from Gilmore Girls to myself: “People are particularly stupid today; I can’t talk to any more of them.” I've said it a lot this year.
  16. Everything here describes me, down to watching it again tomorrow!
  17. In one more year, I'll be able to say the same! And with everything so up-in-the-air about what school is going to look like, I don't see myself bailing before we're done (even though I may have considered it in the past)! 🙂
  18. I Love Lucy M*A*S*H Golden Girls Downton Abbey
  19. When dh and I were newlyweds, the apartment building we first lived in required us to have a co-signer. His parents happily did that for us...we always paid the rent, they weren't involved in any way other than having their name on the lease. If they hadn't been willing to do that for us, I don't know where we would have lived, because that was pretty much the only place available that we could afford, and they definitely required it.
  20. I left the house three days in a row this week, and to be honest, I'm exhausted. 😉 We went to a local, outdoor historic site just for fun on Wednesday, because the weather was beautiful. It was the first time we'd left the house as a family since early March. We didn't come across a single person while we were out, so it was low-stress, and we all enjoyed it. Yesterday, I had to finally take my oldest two to the orthodontist for appointments that had been cancelled, rescheduled, and rescheduled again. It went well, but it was a little stressful because everything was different. Today was grocery shopping day. I go once every two weeks, I need two carts, and it takes at least two hours (plus another hour to put everything away when I get home). That is super stressful, and I don't enjoy it, but I also don't want to put the burden of shopping for a family of seven on anyone else, plus it's still hard to schedule delivery or even pickup here. I don't have to go out again for almost two weeks, and frankly, I'm relieved.
  21. We have the complete series on DVD, but it's also available on Hulu, which is easier than switching discs.
  22. My sons and I have been watching that on an endless loop since the beginning of the year. They stay up later than their sisters, so after the girls go to bed, we watch MASH...none of us has gotten tired of it, and we have no desire to watch anything else. Last night I dreamt I was at the 4077th, and it seemed my sole purpose there was to annoy Frank Burns, and it was working! 🙂
  23. We're watching through that right now...I had forgotten how funny it was! We watch more retro TV than anything else. I Love Lucy and The Dick Van Dyke Show are our favorites.
