  1. I'd like to go to northern New Jersey, where dh grew up, so ds can see it. Of course, it would be convenient to go to NYC as well. Short trips from NYC to Boston or Philadelphia might be fun. Did I just go over budget? If it was to be just dh and me, I'd like to go to some pretty beach in southern California, then up to San Francisco. Or to Prince Edward Island. There are too many places I want to go!
  2. Someone on here told me about zulily.com, and I recently bought my great-niece's Christmas present from there, but they also have women's clothes. I have seen a bunch of cute tunics on that website today. Check it out!
  3. When ds was little, I sold Pampered Chef for awhile. I really like and use a lot of the products, and doing the shows was fun - like having my own cooking show. :-) However, I was terrible at calling people and getting them to book a show. And as hard as I tried to coach the hostesses, I was frustrated that no matter what I did, I might show up and do all that work for three people. The shows were work, too; that's a lot of product to haul into someone's house, set up, cook food, clean up, then bring everything home and wash up.
  4. I caused the same problem in my early lessons, too. The horse would just stop, and my teacher would say, "She doesn't know what you want her to do." I'm doing much better now, so when she doesn't respond, it's usually not my fault. :-) Being ridden by newbies in the ring isn't exactly exciting for her, I'm sure. The other two lesson horses, though, were in a pasture together for 9 years before being bought by my teacher a few months ago. They're much more eager to have something to do, and are happy to be working together (ds rides one, and I ride the other). (They don't slouch around looking sleepy and bored!) Horses' personalities are funny.
  5. She's so pretty! She looks very curious about her new surroundings. Lovely horse. I'm so jealous!
  6. If you're sure your child would actually have 8 days of testing, then is it possible to plan some field trips and/or library days for the littles in the city? Depending on your younger kids' ages, you might be able to find a reasonably quiet spot to do some schoolwork, then head to an interesting spot or a park to play in, then do a little more work before it's time to pick up your 10yo. But I would clarify that each child really will be there for 8 days; that seems highly unusual.
  7. Hope it goes well! I can't wait to see more pics!
  8. I like it. Cross-body purses are pretty popular. Plus it looks Western (I live in AZ), and kinda retro. And it's a bit different than what anyone else would have, without being weird or drawing too much attention. So, yeah, I like it. :-)
  9. Penny? I like the city names - Savannah, Memphis. Miss Kitty? Sassy? Justice? Liberty?
  10. Impressive. So is she just responding to verbal commands and feet/posture?
  11. I agree with everyone else. Don't bother to meet with him, just go to the doctor you like or find a new one. I'm not always an easy patient (I have OCD, and have had a few weird reactions to drugs, so I tend to ask a lot of questions or ask for different drugs sometimes). But I've never had a doctor refuse to listen to my concerns and explain things. I have also never had trouble getting the nurse to act as a go-between to relay info or questions to the doctor. I wouldn't continue to go to a doctor who wouldn't explain why my suggestions were not heeded. I'm sorry you had this experience. Given the complexity of your son's case, I'd see a specialist.
  12. :grouphug: I don't have any expertise in this area, but I just wanted to offer you a hug, because I know this is stressful. I hope you are holding your healthy new grandchild soon!
  13. Various songs from Phantom of the Opera, which I was listening to earlier. Wendi
  14. Try not to panic. I had a lump in my armpit once, and it turned out to be an infection in a hair follicle or something like that. Antibiotics took care of it. If you've been sick, a lymph node is another likely explanation. Don't panic, okay? Wendi
  15. Those are so cute! Unfortunately, I live in the desert, so . . . rain shoes. Hmm. But they're so cute! They look really comfy, too.
  16. Pretty! Glad you like her. I'm jealous of you! We had fun grooming horses today at our lesson. I was really loving on "my" horse there; I got her looking pretty and even braided part of her mane! I loved on her a lot. My teacher said the horse's former owner (she's only belonged to our friend/teacher for a few months) would be so happy to see us together. :001_wub: And I do like riding her; she listens to me really well, and her trot is smooth. And she has a buddy who she's extremely attached to (the horse ds rides); it's adorable. Anyway, horses are so amazing, and I'm happy for you! Wendi
  17. I use the built-in trackpad on my MBP. When I want to play certain games, I plug in a wireless optical mouse (Logitech brand).
  18. Our old bunny (extremely snuggly but not the sharpest Crayon in the box) recently discovered that making noise may bring a human (me), who then may give the bunnies a treat. First he was jingling a toy with a bell on it that they had never played with before, so I went to see what was up. While there, I refilled their water bottle and gave them treats. Next, he found that the clip for connecting the pen together could be raised, then dropped, repeatedly, to make noise. So it's a new discovery for him: make noise, and Mom might come and give treats. Wendi
  19. Well, the bunnies have been around dogs, but not a lot. Like I said in the OP, the younger one calmly met a whole group of golden retrievers without being bothered. The older bunny is not so brave, but he has been exposed to dogs in the past. (The rabbit rescue owner has dogs who are typically out in the yard whenever the bunnies were having playtime in their exercise pens. But that was years ago.) The bunnies live in an x-pen upstairs. I would put a baby gate in the doorway to the room so the dog couldn't get close to them. If the dog and bunnies seem fine when the bunnies are in their pen, I'd let them out into the room, with the dog still on the other side of the baby gate. And see how that goes. Dog would be in a crate whenever we're out, and at night. We are still discussing things. I read Breedfreak, and read some of it out loud to ds. It's entertaining and informative! It still seems like a golden would be a good choice, but we would need to set aside some $$ to prepare for medical issues. I don't really want a really huge one; do females tend to be smaller than males? I know I will have to wait until we don't have bunnies to get a Corgi or Westie someday. Wendi
  20. Roast tiny potatoes, garlic, broccoli, and butternut squash with turkey kielbasa. Easy! Wendi
  21. That was true for me. I've been pregnant four times; the only time I had any morning sickness was with ds. I miscarried the other three. So dh and I were actually happy and relieved whenever I got sick, although it was not fun! Wendi
  22. She looks pretty! I'm excited for you! I'll be thinking of you when I go to my riding lesson. Hope it goes well!
  23. where do you buy tunics? Can you recommend some styles?
  24. Thanks, y'all. I think I'll take him out to try some jeans on today. One of the problems is that he only likes skinny jeans, except for his one pair of boot cut jeans that he wears with his cowboy boots when he rides. And even on the Levi's website, many of the styles were not available in 30x34. So we'll try Old Navy, AE, and Aeropostale today.
