  1. Thanks, y'all! Keep the suggestions coming. Old Navy online doesn't seem to have anything in his size, but we could try the store. We have AE in our mall, as well as JCP. So I'll check those out. I'm not sure if our western store has skinny jeans; I've only ever looked there for boots and clothes for me. :-)
  2. My 16-year-old only likes to wear super skinny jeans. He is outgrowing his 29x32s; I suppose a 30x34 would fit great, but this size seems impossible to find. 30s only seem to come in 30 or 32 length. Any suggestions where to look? Wendi
  3. But they have quite a lot of kids that are more than old enough to cook from scratch, and even do the grocery shopping. Why can't the oldest kids do a weekly shopping trip and prepare some meals?
  4. Wow. I can't imagine. I am still working on fast trotting WITH a bridle and saddle! (I have a tendency to let my heels go up when I'm not concentrating. I'm getting better. I'm also learning to work with split reins with one hand.) I absolutely love horses! You should post a picture of yourself riding.
  5. We only have one kid. We probably spend anywhere from $100-$150 on him, including stocking stuffers. We spend around $100 each on dh and me. Then we have about a dozen family members we buy for; we normally spend about $20 each for those.
  6. I love Corgis, too, but I was thinking since they were bred to hunt small animals in burrows, they might not get along with the bunnies.
  7. For the past year or so, dh has been bringing up getting a dog. He brought it up again last night, saying maybe we could even adopt a dog for Christmas. (I know this is generally considered a bad idea, but if we're not traveling or having guests, does it matter so much?) The quandary is what kind/age of dog to look for. We have two rabbits, so we need to avoid breeds that tend to have a strong prey drive. We wouldn't ever leave the dog unsupervised with the bunnies regardless of how well they get along. I feel like a puppy that grows up with the bunnies will have a good chance of getting along with them, not considering them prey, but I have never trained a puppy. So I'm hoping to find a dog about a year old who has been in a foster home with cats. (Already housebroken, introduced to walking on a leash, and accustomed to being around small animals.) We'd love a dog that would go jogging with dh, on walks and hikes with the family, play frisbee or ball in the park with ds, etc. However, we don't have a huge house, so the dog would also need to chill out and relax, not need constant action. A retriever seems like a good choice, based on activity level and family-friendliness. What about Aussies? Our riding teacher has two Aussie/heeler mixes that are amazing. Any other ideas? Also, is my idea of looking for a young dog that's got good cat experience the right idea? Obviously the bunnies would have to meet the dog first. (Funny story: Our lionhead/lop rabbit weighs under 5 lbs. Once when we were helping with rabbit adoptions at a local pet store, we had her there with us on a leash and harness. There was a golden retriever rescue group there as well. She hopped right up to a group of about six LARGE retrievers, stood up on her back legs (prairie-dog-style), and sniffed them, allowing them to sniff her. She was not afraid in the least.) Thanks in advance! I know I've brought this up before, a long time ago, but now it seems like dh is getting more serious about it. He knows ds and I love all animals, and would say yes to anything. I just want to make a wise choice, as this is a big commitment, and although we both had dogs in our families growing up, we've never had a dog since we've been married.
  8. Luke and Leia? Not exactly literary, but if they're brother and sister. . .
  9. Cute stuff! Can anyone recommend any Etsy sellers in particular? I would love to get a really pretty smocked dress. Wendi
  10. That only works in some cases. If the hours worked by all the part-time employees adds up to the equivalent of 50 full-time (30 hours) employees, the company must provide insurance.
  11. I am the proud great-aunt of a beautiful 2-month-old girl. Now that we finally have a little girl to buy a Christmas gift for again, I want your suggestions of where to get adorable, well-made, but reasonably priced baby clothes. Thanks! Wendi
  12. I agree you should redo your drawing, with all the names included. If you really feel bad for "Linda", maybe you can offer her a discount off a future order, as runner-up?
  13. Glad to hear positive reviews! We're hoping to see it soon. Wendi
  14. I wouldn't bring up the "date". Let her figure that out. But I would tell her that trying to manipulate you into changing your plans for your younger dd's birthday is unacceptable. "We already have plans for dd's party this year. But I think your salon idea would be great; maybe you can treat dd to something like that next year." Wendi
  15. I wish I lived near some of you horse folks. I am really starting to think about living in the country someday, and having a couple of horses. But I know they are so much work! This week, I spent a long time grooming "my" horse at our teacher's place, while the teacher and ds gave "ds's" horse a bath. She's taught us a lot about their care.
  16. Turkey Gravy Cornbread stuffing Mashed potatoes Roast green beans and butternut squash Apple pie with ice cream There are only three of us, but make a lot because dh and ds eat a lot, and I won't have to cook again for a few days!
  17. He's adorable! His personality sounds like one of my teacher's young horses (3yo). She will follow you around like a puppy, and can't get enough affection. So sweet! Your horse is really handsome and sounds like a wonderful horse! I have never seen that breed before.
  18. I think we may also be losing half of the child tax credit, down to $500. I haven't heard as much about that part of it, though. Wendi
  19. It's for tax year 2013, as far as I know. If your rates do go up, you'd want to change your withholding so you're not underpaying and hit with a huge bill. The payroll tax cut, which seems likely to disappear, means you'll see more taken out of your paycheck starting Jan. 1. (That's about 2%, I believe.) Most people in the news seem to be saying that the income tax rate will not be raised on those making under $200,000 ($250,000 for a couple). For people who make less than that, it seems like the main hit is the loss of the payroll tax cut. (Assuming that Pres. Obama's plan for letting the income tax rates increase for the over-$250K group, but letting the under-$250K group keep the current tax rate, is approved.) Wendi
  20. For chicken - Chick fil A. For burgers - In 'n Out (with Freddy's a close second). Wendi
