  1. I was homeschooled, always thought I'd have 6 kids (and live that "perfect" dream of a "happy gets along family":)) I have step-daughters 19, 16, & a daughter 13 with an 8 yr old son my husband and I had together. They all have summer birthdays so they all move up in age in the next couple of months. I really wanted more children for a long time, when my son was younger. I still love to think about how it might have worked out, if I had kept having a couple more. BUT, I can honestly tell you that for the first time.... I am happy to be "on my way out" of this stage and into the grandparenting stage. (Not that I have them now... just that I know they're probably coming) Everyone's different, but turning 40 yrs old, as I did in Sept.... made it somehow "right" that I am done. I don't think that the "love those babies" stage ever necessarily goes away.... But want another baby for ME to take care of 24/7 has. :)
  2. You poor thing!! Prayers for full recovery. I still remember the little girls from our church, from when I was around 10. She fell 3 floors and ended up healing... it was slow, but incredibly she ended up ok!! I wish the same for your son! :)
  3. I'd say that 9pm would be the earliest I'd think he'd go to bed. I'd ask what's been happening before... (ask his foster mom or whomever) My daughter goes to bed between 9:30 and 11:00pm and gets up on her own at 6:45am or so to leave at 7:45am for school. I have no idea if you're dealing with adhd or anything. Here's something to think about... if you are, it could be that means he'd be in his room for 3 hrs or more before sleep. Hugs... this is hard! :)
  4. Transition from here to not is sad :( But, it's also a part of life, right? Glad that you're helping your loved one :)
  5. Wish that you were close, I'd send my 9 yr old ;) He'd love all the Myths studies :) Then you could have 2 kiddos... and I could have coffee in peace ;)
  6. Is the new Lodge stuff still made in the States? Not sure about that... If you look up good cast iron, and if it needs to be older to be safe... Goodwill has a ton, usually. I burn off everything in my woodstove and start from scratch :) (Coconut in small amounts is good to wipe on at the end of drying it on the stove, after cleaning :))
  7. If you want one laid out, I would say that Classical Conversations' memory work could be completely secular, with minor cross outs. It would take less than 30 minutes, probably. And of course it depends on if you want all history to be as though there was no recognition of God. It could take an hour, I suppose, if you wanted to take all references of God out. :(
  8. 25 degrees less and faster... How much faster, I'm not sure. BUT, it's more even :) (cuz of the air whooshing around) I really love mine, and wouldn't choose to purchase an oven without. :)
  9. I was homeschooled and wouldn't have cared to do this. I would have been angry and unamused... :(
  10. "Doernbecher Children's Hospital provides the region's widest range of children's health care services and serves as the primary center for OHSU pediatric programs." It's in Portland, Oregon. I have no idea how much of a problem it will be for her until I go early June for her appt. Usually, I think of this hospital for very serious issues, so it was just a bit scary to get a call from them, without a first call from my Drs office. (no one even asked me if they could send the x-rays forward...) hmmmm
  11. I wouldn't want that to happen.... It's really not food that's safe for humans :( I bought 2 bags of dog food in the last 4 years... I'm on my second of Wellness... Glad that's not on the list :( I usually feed raw.... Hope all the WTM Pets are ok! :) (And sorry about the dogs that were lost before, due to bad dog food :()
  12. Where are you? Are you directing this year? Just curious.
  13. :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::laugh::laugh::laugh:
  14. Weird timing, this thread is for me!! We're set to go to the children's hospital with my 13 year old (almost 14 yr old) She has scoliosis, and no one mentioned it till her sports physical.... We were sent for an x-ray and then with no call from our regular Dr, I got a call from Doernbecher's. :( I was surprised that it was bad enough for that... since our chiro has never mentioned it. She's done ballet and other dance her entire life.... Hoping for both of us... that none of the kids have serious problems :(
  15. I know, it seems like we could really help his family!! :crying:
  16. I asked our Kempo instructor about doing a "self defense class" with my daughter. He offered 4, 1/2 hr private lessons for $100. :) (He charges $25 a half hour for private)
  17. Praying for.... Chen Guangcheng Hope he gets to leave.
  18. Not me personally, but both my parents were the babies of their families. Both of my g-mas thought they were just gettin' older... and "Poof" they were having babies :) I'm super happy they had babies, because our whole family wouldn't be here if they hadn't. I'm also super sorry that I didn't really get to know my g-parents. BUT, I've had a chance at life!! :) So, there are sweets and bitter-sweets about it. But... the "sweets" reign!!! :) Enjoy your new little one :)
  19. Well, it's something that the more you're exposed to it, the more you can be sensitive. So, like any allergy, that's a serious concern. My daughter is allergic to peanuts, and I wouldn't be comfortable with that situation. What does your Allergist say?
  20. This sounds like a GREAT option!! If you continue AoPS, I'd love to hear how it goes :)
