HELP (again)! Potty-training Katya
SonshineLearner replied to Cindy in C-ville's topic in General Education Discussion Board
There are a couple of options. First, there are nighttime pullups that are more absorbent. Second, I found some pull-ups that are reuseable that I think would work well. They have the elastic on the sides... like disposable. I almost bought them for my 6.5 year old... as I don't think he'll be out of pullups for a long time. My 9 year old nephew.... is still in them. I've just decided that it's not worth it. I just stopped helping him in the restroom in the last few weeks. He'd still prefer help. (he's literally 6 1/2) I'm thinking I'd do pullups and then just bathe after... After a while.... perhaps offer a treat.... if she goes on the potty. I'd offer maybe... some play money... and a toy at the end or something.... (probably not food...) Carrie:-) -
I bought coconut oil.

I have no idea if your daughter is ok with peanuts... but I always look to see that it's made in a nut free facility. (the first one I bought... oops) Also, just know that excema can be helped by putting Crisco on your daughter after a bath... (pat dry... put on Crisco.... let "sink in") Then... Coconut oil is good:-) Carrie:-) OH.. I buy it through Frontier Co-op and Azure Standard co-op. I buy it by the half gallon. You can also buy it... for more... at any Health Food Store:-) -
Does this sound like a good birthday dinner?
SonshineLearner replied to Luanne's topic in General Education Discussion Board
If white gravy would go ok with the baked chicken... it's my favorite... Course... I make it when I kinda sizzle/fry my chicken in butter... and use that as a base for the gravy... with milk and flour.... and tons of pepper and some salt. Yum!! Either way, your dinner looks lovely. Butter on the mashed potatoes would be good as well. Yum!! Carrie:-) -

HELP!! dd is not fully getting Latin! we are using
SonshineLearner replied to hmschoolmom22's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
I would say First Form... as that's great for Henle... which is where she's headed next year. I'd tell her to do her best with LNST and that her grade will come from First Form... Now... here's the part you'll have to deal with if you choose this path.... First Form is Church/Ecclesiastical... and Henle will be done with Classical pronunciation. If not that... if you wanna really study with her... then Henle now would be good:-) I'd tell your daughter not to sweat it... that LNST is TOUGH at that level. The good thing about it may be at the very end... if she can get the vocabulary down... and wants to take one of the Latin Tests.... I know that there are a couple of Latin books to help you get your teeth sunk into Latin:-) If it was my daughter... I'd literally just tell her to relax... go back to the very basics of learning Latin... and just let her know that many many people have a problem with LNST. Give her a Hug.... and let her know... that just because LNST isn't going well... doesn't mean that Henle will be the same. Personally, I've heard many more good things about Henle than LNST. I WOULD expect for studying Latin to take 1 hour or more a day, and I would help her with the grammar questions and flashcards... and recitation.... Carrie -

I buy huge things of it... there are different "kinds" for different uses:-) You can mix it with different things for deodorant. I think we did Baking Soda, coconut oil... and something else:-) I rub it on my daugher's skin....etc... Carrie -

I'd try to help him find the social resources that are available. Isn't it right to explain that your family isn't doing well?? That you aren't able to help your own family, yet alone anyone else? BUT, that you want to help him find any social help that you can for him?? Hugs... and then more hugs... Carrie

I'm wondering if anyone is using the Singapore Series for their older students. I'm thinking that we'll use the New Elementary Mathematics hopefully starting in 7th. I also have the Videotext Algebra course (just A, so far). I'd love to hear about your experiences. Including your thoughts on how it is to teach the courses.... (And how far you've gone:-) I really am enjoying doing the Singapore with her now, and hope to continue enjoying it. Carrie:-)
