  1. :grouphug: Sorry about that!! Thank God you were right there with him.
  2. Hi There, So... did you decide to do Latin, yet? :-)
  3. I've thought of it... we did all the training... here's the tough part... "You're inviting THE STATE into your house...." and I don't like them (the State) as guests.... Carrie
  4. I was reading the Cindy Neuschwander's Books (Sir Cumference) to my 5 year old last year. I also found them a good read a loud for my olders to read him. Gotta sneak learning in for both when you can:-) She also has some other books out. I like this thread. Gosh... we watch too much TV.... should be reading... should be reading... Carrie:-)
  5. How bout... "Home Educating is what we're doing till the kids go to College"... it's "Part of them living here... kinda like eating, sleeping, and all of our other activities....". I plan to homeschool my son forever... but how long is forever? :-) Sometimes... that's next week... and sometimes... it's till he's ready for private school.... (private 2nd grade... or private college? :-) I think many times it's just a friend trying to have "conversation starter" :-) Carrie
  6. I hate those "litter box" things. Just me... I also wouldn't put my male pups in a diaper... which I know someone who does that... Yuck!! Sorry, I just think that's gross... Puppy crate or leash.... Till she gets settled... (Yes... Leash a lot... crate...not too much:-) At night... I'd expect to take it out once... or so.... (whatever the normal is for that size/age dog) I'd expect to "newborn baby" it for a while.... If you have linoleum in the kitchen... I'd be staying in there for school and such... taking outside to "pee-pee" or whatever you're gonna teach it. And.... try not to let it go inside... but cleaning off a kitchen floor (or hardfloor) is easier and not as long lasting of a problem as the carpet. Also, remember... when you get crazy excited (or others do) that can make serious accidents. Calm... especially when getting out of the crate. No excited baby talk when you take it out... :-) I did carry my kitty around when she was little... all over... while I vacuumed... and did everything.... Carrying around it great, too:-) Like a little doggy sling:-) Good Luck... In a week... it'll be "more normal" for all of you:-) Carrie
  7. I re-filed my whole filing cabinet and all the paper I had been waiting to file... for the last how many every years... I threw away way over a laundry basket of papers... burned documents that needed to be burned. Yay... a couple more hours and my office will be clean!! At least as clean as it's every gonna be!! Carrie:-)
  8. Well, I'm sure someone will think that "River" is a great name.... I know that there are "Rivers" out there:-) Personally I like Lucas over the others... and I wouldn't do the Beau thing.... Best Wishes!! Carrie
  9. I am SO sorry... you're sure nothing's broken?? My mom fell down a couple of steps... and wasn't able to do anything... for a few weeks..... (Something in her foot ended up broken...) Really sorry for you... doing the what is it... hot / cold.... thing?? Carrie
  10. I like... the Core Knowledge Series... I've found them at the Goodwill, although the Pre-K and K are newer?? Along with the Latin Centered Curriculum... listening to Story Of The World.... with Singapore Math:-) I also really like the "Teaching the Trivium" (From a Christian Worldview...) Carrie:-)
  11. I would see if I could do daycare for part time... For me... probably 9am-right after lunch:-) Carrie:-)
  12. I was looking at this. Is it required to use "That Bible"? Is it like King James/ or New King James? I really don't want.... another Kid's Bible... Carrie:-)
  13. I think it would be a lovely show of hospitality and follow the "Christian Classical" modeling, therefore encouraging THEM to follow your example with others. I feel embarrassed about our floors and all of the unfinished spots in our house, and so I understand not wanting to make your house a place of "always ready to entertain". If I were you, I would think about decorating a spot/the eating area of your church and invite perhaps two couples at a time... to your Church Building. It would give you a spot to go... perhaps another kitchen to use. I would do the main part, and ask one of them to bring a salad and one a dessert... or something like that. Then.. you could have a Sunday School room set up for a movie for the children... or a play area... Carrie:-)
  14. I have experience with this. I purchased a "Foreclosed" on house and this is what's suggested. After you rip up the carpet and pad, you paint a special paint over it. I had my whole house painted with this, on the floorboard. You just "roller" it on the floor. It's really not expensive. For the whole house it was way under $100. It keeps any smells down, and I'm sensitive to smells and such.. and no problem for me:-) Carrie
  15. Hey Tracy, Bumping your post to say that when I read it on a blog... I thought... "That's the inspirational piece I need to read at our next CC Day." Do you mind?? I'm not sure if you'll see this... I'd like the original thread... but... this one will do:-) Thanks! Carrie
  16. My daughter went straight into LCI at 3rd grade and did fine:-) Carrie:-)
  17. I wanna do this!! I've challenged myself to do it to my house... and office!! I'm filing right now:-) Carrie:-)
  18. Wow... I'd be scared that somehow one of us would start a fire.... that would be "Next Year's Regret" :tongue_smilie: Good Idea... though:-) Carrie
  19. I'd send a nice letter to the teacher, burning no bridges:-), and tell her that you appreciate all the teaching she offered.... and then send in your withdraw letter. No need to go back... Order your stuff... or continue using what you have... .brew some coffee and make some hot chocolate... and get started home educating again:-) You know you wanna:-) "Just Do It" :-) Carrie
