  1. Hey Thanks... Well... the title had "Math" in it :) Glad I have the WTM people to help me think!! :)
  2. I'm not exactly sure of the title, obviously. BUT, it's written by a young woman... to young girls... It's been out a couple of years ago... or so.. Thanks!! :)
  3. Thanks!! Yes!! (Why couldn't I find it when I searched??!!) Anyway... perfect!! :)
  4. Gosh... I'd wonder why there's such a response. I'd be journaling it for sure, and I'd ask about something like fun fruits or asking for them to just let him having something tasty. At this age, food treats can be important!! Did you ask the driver for some help? What are your true responsibilities? Is it your responsibility to buckle in? Or... just to make him available? Could you take him to the meeting spot? I'd ask her why she thinks he won't get in the car. Sorry :(
  5. Hey There, I went looking for the thread about Homeschoolers signing up for the box tops program... (as a group) Now I can't find it... :)
  6. We never got summer... Well... we got about 4 or 5 hot days... :(
  7. Hey there... I'm looking for tracing paper to fit in our notebooks. Last time I had 9x12 cut... and 3 hole punched.... But I'd rather buy it as 8.5x11 and... wow.. hole punched would be awesom~ Any ideas??
  8. Obey was in ours... I thought about it... It's different than a child's obedience. And... I'm not sure that my husband would say I obey him... I do try to observe a type of deference to his decisions. I wouldn't vote if that was in a poll, though. :)
  9. Sadly, they're right. You have absolutely ruined them for accepting society at large. Regretfully, you have probably taught them logic; what a shame! You might have gone so far that they can count back change, and not need a calculator for simple mathematics. Do you understand how that makes others feel? The also might allude to meanings behind sayings, and expect others to know about books that aren't at a simple level. Perhaps you aren't excited to see them reading Twilight, and don't think of it as book report worthy. Wait! Perhaps your kids are beyond book reports. I have to agree with your friends and family, your children are beyond hope of being ignorant! For Shame! :)
  10. We say the Latin Table Blessing, since my son (now 7) insisted on learning it when he was 3. He leads most often. Sometimes my husband just "prays" and then ends it with something that reminds me of his Catholic upbringing. (Just the way he ends it :)
  11. I tried Cursive First, but now am using Handwriting Without Tears... Good Thing I don't have to cry anymore! :)
  12. My mom's fresh whole wheat bread with honey. (my whole growing up life) Nectarines or peaches cut in half and filled with orange blossom honey... (mostly at age 12) (real) Mozzarella and fresh tomatoes on fresh deli bread... with olive oil (age 20, NJ) Lots of them at Zingerman's in Michigan. (as well as lots of other treats) Oceana?? in NY Great Seafood spot in Seattle... can't remember what it was called. It was right after I was married... with a friend... pan fried halibut cheek (not the name the menu said :) and then for dessert a set of 3 creme brulees. Orange, Chocolate(wow, incredible!) and also green tea, I think (not my favorite..) And... for my 39th BD this month... The Melting Pot! WOWOWOWOW! Incredible! First, spinach artichoke cheese fondue, salad course, then a really awesome platter of all kinds of meats... and tuna... salmon...etc... (my husband added lobster tail to his) and it was incredible! Then.... chocolate fondue. Original with chocolate and peanut butter... and the other one was "The Turtle" or something.. pecans and caramel (basically like the Turtle candy) Well... that's it so far...
  13. :( How sad! Let us know how this works out! Praying things will be ok!
  14. Well, I'd say that next time you should purchase with a credit card that gives you extended service... and purchase the stores, too!! :)
  15. Actually, if you can't do just Essentials... that's a local decision. You are allowed to just sign up Essentials kids... although perhaps first priority of class space would be to kids who want to attend both... :)
  16. Mine leaves at 6:45am and returns btwn 5:30 and 6:30. His actual work hrs are 7:30am-4:30pm, but people stay to talk or finish up work. He travels about 30-45 minutes each way for his commute. Closest he's worked to home in years!! :)
  17. Fruit Dip! Cream Cheese and Marshmallow whip blended.... ( I think regular cream cheese & small jar of marsh whip) You just whip together. I was first served this with nutmeg on top, but I don't like nutmeg much. It is delicious!!! I just serve without the top sprinkled..... :)
  18. I have to say that if I were able to live in France or some spot like that... I'd stick my kids in school for a while for some "language immersion" :) And.. wow... some time to explore by myself... all the coffee houses... and pastries!! :) (Oh yes.. museums and other education opportunities..., too!)
  19. Bummer! I'd probably be "on my way out" and offer to meet them at Starbuck's and treat them to a coffee!! :)
  20. I HATE the thought of my child in public school. When I go visit, I feel like I'm crawling with roaches, the halls make me feel just freaked. BUT, she has started back part time, and because of the fact that she's only doing electives... she's loving it. She's also doing part time the hs group that I'm in charge of... She really doesn't like it, and doesn't want this type of education. As my older step daughter says, "no one goes to school because of the education; they like friends". I have to say, that our homeschool friends just don't let their children do things that my daughter can do. Most don't spend nights, never get to go anywhere without parents staying with them. She felt sad, lonely, and not able to do "friend activities" with them. Not that you can't get together with families, not that she doesn't like the kids in her group, but the relationships were always "co-op dependent". Perhaps because we have older children, we're just not as protective. (Although inside I'm paranoid like all the other mother hens) Anyway, just in the first couple of weeks, she's been able to go to our local festival with her new "friends" and also been invited to spend the night... (which I couldn't go for until I could meet them a bit more...) And the education... Well, I know our schools are as decent as other "decent schools". So, while it's not the highest education she can get, while I don't like a "government worldview/anti-Christian", I do like the fact that she can jump in and make herself happy. We'll see how it goes... Still hanging on for my son... (7yrs old) can at least stay with me through high-school... :)
  21. Pam... Foot Massages? That's what I'd want.. Chocolate (with salt is my favorite, now!!) Hansen's sodas! Special Water! Good Movies (fun!! nice!!) Chips and Salsa! Guacomole (Baja Fresh with salsa and chips...) although the chips from Chipotle's are really good... they have lime salt on them (yum!) Candles.... Wanna come to a candle party with us? One of the only candles I can handle is the Partylite candles (only some of them) Love... I love you!!
  22. Thanks so much! I'll let you know how it goes! I went with the more "long term reliability" one... and then got the cord and adaptor... didn't know how long of a cord... so go the 5 ft one... hope that works... The teacher has to turn around and write... etc... so I decided the corded one wouldn't be best... ;) If this works... I'll be able to save her voice!! :)
