Page protector w/marker for handwriting workbooks??
SonshineLearner replied to Tardis Girl's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
How much were the dry erase crayons?? :) -
and you just started CC :) I told my husband that if he moved for a year at least... and liked his job, that I would move. Here, we live a mile from my parents... I've lived by them for most of my life. I've lived in this town for over 10 years... things I like about it and things I don't. If you tried, since your parents are close... could you rent out your house? :) Actually, with us doing CC too, I planned to visit my husband on our off time... stay here doing CC.... and do a bit of back and forth... BUT, I didn't have a newborn, my youngest is 7. :)

Need Help Spelling a Baby Name
SonshineLearner replied to Spring Pea's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Adellyne :) Addyline. :) Adelynne :) Don't worry, it'll never get spelled correctly :( So, it's just how you think it's easiest :) How do you spell it for the song?? Isn't that the song??? Adeleine? Which, BTW, I really liked Abrielle... (like your Aubrielle) I've only seen one of those. Do you say ... Auna staucee uh? Or Anna Stazia? :) -
We've had occasional help, but my husband said it was so he could give money to the guy across the street that's out of work.. My husband overpayed the guy... I would have liked twice as many hours for the same cost :) That being said, I wish that I could have an organizer!! More than a housekeeper!! :)

Hey There, Will you tell me about it?? :)

How much to pay mommy's helper?
SonshineLearner replied to Capt_Uhura's topic in General Education Discussion Board
$3 an hour. (I'd ask her mom what she wants her daughter to make... I might say $2 or $2.50 because I want my children to appreciate making money and work hard as they're getting older!) -
Hey Y'all, It was a very good practicum! I've never been able to "just attend" any practicum/training yet. I have to add that Tutor Training was incredible, both in Salem and Tigard. But, Tigard's practicum, I was able to just relax and listen and soak in..... and it was very informative! It was really great to meet Beth, too! (and she is just as cute and beautiful as her little pic on here!) Sometime we'll have to have a PDX meet-up, because I know that Pam and a few others would like to get together, too! :)

Head lice: can I treat to prevent?
SonshineLearner replied to Crissy's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Lice Treatment Professional What?? There are professionals for this? I've heard that there are things you can spray each day... I got some lice away type stuff from England a few years ago.... when my step-daughter's mom said the girls got lice each year. The mom considered it "kinda bonding" to comb away the mama lice whatevers.... I considered it... "Surely Gross"...... and so got it... it's sweet almond oil among other things... Thankfully, they never got it again... (and even the first time... was on her week! Yay!) -
There are tons of threads that are really good. Some have had their kids put their phones on the charger each night, some have them bring their phones to have text messages erased(you can verify text amt of #'s by looking at the phone bill online) Ours is.... remember not to send any photo that is in any way revealing. Remember any photo can be loaded to facebook ect... by anyone else that you send it to.... The phone is always something I can ask to spot check by picking it up and looking through the messages... and I've done it! You really have to just go over the text part more than any other. Also, is it like dinner time years ago? No answering the phone during dinner? No looking at texts? You'll have to see what will make your phone happy with your teens using them... which is partially done by habits that the parents follow... :)

SonshineLearner replied to starwarsmomma's topic in General Education Discussion Board

Asking the hive...
SonshineLearner replied to Tidbits of Learning's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Gosh.. tough one! I have a friend that I love her "british sayings" and I've pointed out sayings before.. because years ago, I had a friend Viv from England... and it reminds me of them. BUT, I don't do it everytime, and I'm not making fun of her. I took speech too. My name has two r's so... it was hard to say my name my whole life. I've been told others can't hear it now, but I've been self conscious my whole life... about it... even though I really like my name anyway. I say you have to think about if you like the rest of your friendship. If so, tell her that once was good, can she get over commenting about your flaws? I mean... I speak properly, and don't point out when others are incorrect... all the time... (like I instead of me... etc..) I was lucky (or cursed:) with a mom who hs me.. and started speaking correctly when I was young. She made it a point to speak properly... but no one wants to be corrected all the time.. :) -
Pacific Northwest Friends: Salem, Portland?
SonshineLearner replied to jaynaheath's topic in Parents' Forum Networking Board
Hey there!! We're having our Classical Conversations Practicum/Seminar (cost for adults: Free!) Wanda Sanseri of Spell to Write and Read (SWR) will be the co-guest speaker for the afternoon part.... I'm looking forward to hearing from her... I heard a bit at an advanced 2 hr crash course this last year and enjoyed learning many things! I'm in the Salem area CC group, (director) but since you're moving to PDX... that won't work for your family. BUT, it'd be fun to meet you if you end up wanting to come to the Practicum... If you do... pm me and I'll give you info... It's Thurs, Fri and Sat from 9-4. Wanda's part is from 1pm-4pm :) Carrie:) -

writers - why is this happening to me?
SonshineLearner replied to rookie's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Poor You! I have a 3 page paper on "Why I want to go to ______ College." It's all I have to do to finish going to college... free!! And... I just have writer's block on WHY I want to go. Can't I just stomp my foot and say, "Cuz I wanna!" :) Good luck!! A beautiful view... with some nice music... and snacks helps my dad... and he writes professionally... An excuse for a mini vacation!! :) -
Wow... I don't look forward to seeing how my children parent. I'm a crazy mix of parenting. Yes, I spank my children, but I nurse forever.... (hopefully they'll nurse for quite a while) I don't vax, I wear my baby for years, I put my children in carseats safely... I co-sleep... (even when I escape downstairs... and leave my husband upstairs to be the co-sleeper, now that my son is much older) I don't put my children in daycare...(well, I did when I was single) I cloth diaper... I guess I'm a Jesus loving, freaky hippyish sorta wanna be... who nips my babies like a lioness when they won't listen. Maybe I'll havta get a job or move when my kids have children..... I'd probably freak with a grandbaby stuck in a crib drinking formula and crying......

I am WORN OUT. (sorry - LONG)
SonshineLearner replied to Denisemomof4's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I am SOOO sorry. You have to what's best for your collective family... You included!! I wish there was a spot where you could offer your daughter a place to be... and you could have a day off a week.... if that wouldn't make the whole thing worse for you... I'm really sorry!!! I wish for you... a good break!! :) -
IEW condensed cd.. .Isn't there one?? Opinions??
SonshineLearner replied to SonshineLearner's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
A teaching DVD? besides the whole set? I actually have the whole set, but not everyone in the group will take the time to watch all of it... so I was thinking of the "compromise" :)
