  1. Tell your kids to do school when they want... Have them spend time with your dad if that is good... Let them watch tv, and play the wii... If pics would work.. take those... Do only what you want to do for these next few weeks :) Do NOT worry about school. Everyone here understands! Sorry for this part... of life.... being so hard :(
  2. She's beautiful. Didn't see your post before... Prayers for a full recovery!! ;)
  3. Hey Pax :) I have no idea if you're in the Salem area... but feel free to pm me with your email... and I'll let you know what I like around here... We have a Christian Co-op that's going on this coming year. Also, Christian or not, Exodus Books is a great Homeschooling Bookstore. :) Gilbert House is great... as is OMSI :)
  4. I believe we all have a sinful nature, although some don't mind selfishness rule... and some try to rule over their sin nature. I like to think that... I try to live a life that is pleasing to God. :)
  5. Yup... you need an attorney!! Get one before you sign any papers or checks... Sometimes signing checks can end up really bad for the future chance of getting what you should. (Make sure anything you sign or take... has NOTHING about it limiting your future entitlement.) Sorry :(
  6. http://www.cancercenter.com/cancer-hospitals.cfm I'm not sure if any of these would be close enough... but I really am sold on the metronomic chemotherapy. My mom and dad have met people who came because their last DR said to go home and get their things in order, because death was close. (And they are still alive!!! :)) There are numbers on the site to call and talk about possible care. http://www.cancercenter.com/search.cfm?q=metronomic Carrie
  7. Very Cool!! My dad knows fluent Ancient Hebrew :) Want to pm me and have me ask him about what program next? Would he be ready for college courses? (He teaches Seminary level courses and might have an idea ;))
  8. I'd be in my sneakers... or underneath where ever my purse/pocketbook was hanging :) You'll find them whenever you get back... somewhere weird... In the fridge?? ;)
  9. So great that you're there :) Anyone want a teen sent to them to work for a few weeks in the summer?? Course... she doesn't know Spanish... but she knows some Church Latin :) And she's great at baking :)
  10. Chinese churches seem to be most places that I've lived. (I've lived a variety of spots :)) Also, how about the mocha what's it called? I wonder if they have a spot for kids.... Also, some places have not really "Saturday school" but specific groups for children whose parents are trying to have them play with other kids... that speak whatever language :) I think it's incredibly wonderful to have your children maintain some fluency of Chinese... My friend's g-pa went back to China about 10 or so years ago... after being gone 50 years.... He was able to get into speaking Chinese again by reading through the Bible each day..... and when he went back had a blast being the "tall white guy with no accent".... People would stare around looking for who was speaking Chinese... and then look up :) Anyway, I wish... only wish... that my children were so fortunate :) :)
  11. Germ freak as I am, I liked when I saw the Episcopal Priest, dip the wafer in the wine and give it to the person... :) I can't stand having someone else's spit in my wine... even if the "wine kills the germs"
  12. In my ideal church, we would use unleavened bread, broken (so fewer germs :) and wine... cuz.... I very much doubt it was unfermented. It's not "yum" lets eat... It's remember... and do it this way... :) Communion or Lord's Supper...
  13. I SOOOO feel your pain. Are the songs about God? and true worship? If so, close your eyes :) I'd seriously talk to them about what their music choices are meant to become... Why Johnny Can't Sing Hymns is one of the books I've heard about lately. :(
  14. Just one thought... make sure that the house you buy will work with the asthma... stuff to think about... I don't know what kind of "tests" for air count... good purification system.... (not new carpet ect... that you're gonna need to off gas... hopefully not carpet at all....) Sounds like a good deal..if you're happy in the end :)
  15. I think it's more of "why" you're having babies :) I can say that I appreciate that my mom can be a Grammy and not a "mom" to a lot of little kids right now. Of course, it's your own business... But, after around 15 or 20 yrs of having babies... it seems like at some point a person might reach "enough kids" versus being too old. My parents were both born to their moms ... when their moms were about 45. So, I am glad that their moms had them :) Their fathers were both older than 45... Course, my g-pa died when my mom was 15... and I loved my g-ma... but essentially I didn't really have grandparents. (My g-ma lived till I was 13... after being really sick for a while... so I had a g-ma long distance... till I was that age..) :)
  16. I see her... but I don't see her name. I do see... that speakers can change at any time. I'm worried about that. I don't want to pay... and then not listen to her. I saw Pudewa and someone else, too. I like them :) But, I'm wondering if people change... and I can't get my $$$ back... if I'll just be upset. :(
  17. It would be nice for the Capital to get a spot!! And, I think I could get a church here!! (And, I'm wondering how many of us she's thinking) And, of course, I will need to see how much $$$ we need to gather. I think it's doable. I am wondering if small... is better. I had thought of that with the other speaker I was thinking about. Would it be better to just have a large handful be there so that we can really just listen to one person?? And then the next year ask someone else?? I don't know how many hours I can concentrate on one person.... Perhaps if I got to record it and go back over it later?? The other person I was thinking that if I got a church and a room full of people that I would need 35 people to pay for travel, food and speaking fee. That would still be a pretty intimate conference. (that's if I can get the church for pretty much free.) I had thought of trying to match up with a Classical School to help foot the travel expenses... :)
  18. So, I'm excited because I got the general email back about my response for wanting SWB here in Portland (or Salem) I'm a little bummed with the reality that my email was one of... probably hundreds. I'm wondering... if Portland will have a chance... (or Salem) I REALLY think that Salem/Portland needs something like this... although of course... one of the ideas was smaller. I would love to have small so I can listen.... of course large isn't as selfish... (but then reality is... I'd be dealing with problems instead of listening to talks... and I want to listen..) How many people could really show up in Salem or Portland?? And, how many more emails to Patricia before I am considered obnoxious? :D I'd really just love to listen to her. One thing I've thought about it maybe she could come for small for the weekend and then do a talk at a Classical School, too.... or something like that. (selfish and then not :)) I need some academic conferences.... :)
