  1. Sorry :( I hope you feel better! Hoping you get some sunshine your way :)
  2. I so would have liked to be in a room stacking chairs for her!! (or with :)) I would love to look around the school where she's a principal; is there a link? She speaks English, right? I would like to have her as a speaker sometime :) Great!!! From a beginning where we could have never heard about her work... to here... Amazing!! :)
  3. Actually, he might do very well in the kennel, but pay for the extra walk or two a day, as he's a house dog and might not "go" in the kennel area. I always ask that mine be taken out so I know that he'll "go" :)
  4. Could you just use "Lexy" because... well... that's the dog's name. Here's the thing about names... people move... friends change... and... well... It's a really cute name :) Otherwise, say you name is... Ally :) then before you know it, an Ally moves in right door. ;) Anyway, not much help... As far as dogs responding to a new name, it really won't be a problem. You just call them the name, and they respond :) I like the name Harley or Lucy for a cute dog ;)
  5. Yuppers!! Just think... the soup is what... $7.00 for one person... at the spots where you have to find a seat?? I'd pay the $200 and not even think about it!! ;)
  6. Well, I actually think it'd be better. Do school for education; do daycare to take care of children while parents work. Public school should be to educate children, not be childcare. So, school Tues-Fri would be less busses etc...Take care of "What Mondays do we actually HAVE school?" What about giving reading lists of suggestions for the Library Reading contests that are actually productive. Encourage parents to be involved with actually educating their children. I could see actually putting the school year together, totally different than they do. I think that to be productive, we need to start thinking outside the box, instead of in it. :)
  7. Well, I'd say that I'd pay him $5.00 a day plus a bonus for a "good job".... But, seriously... I have SUCH a hard time with this. I mean... I want to make sure they "see" my animals... I would take steps to make sure it's "accident free" Like, a check list... First I would make sure all the doors are "Open" or "Closed" so animals can't get stuck inside rooms. Second, I would put a check list together. (And have him check the things off) If it's once a day, it might go like this "New bowl w/water" "New Bowl with Food" "Scoop Litter & Take to trash" "Visually see.... Orange Cat, Black Cat, Brown Cat" If the cats are social... then "playing with/loving on" are optional and you could pay a certain amount for say... 15 or 20 minutes of that.... Anyway, just my thoughts...
  8. Hmmm, We can't get excited for things that may be cancelled; it's too hard on my children. Of course, with people being like this I often don't tell my kids till we're almost on our way. I would call up the other "disinvited/basically" friend and do something special with her. Fun for both of you, and probably not an hour away. :)
  9. Really, milk is of little value (IMO) if pasteurized. But, not homogenized, with fat... is the best if you're gonna do it. :)
  10. Well, I would prefer that he ask... I like my icecream without sharing. I share lots.. but not really food... :)
  11. I'm seriously sorry :( Hugs!!! On the diaper part, it depends on why, right? But, Pure Aloe Vera Gel worked on little ones I used it on..
  12. Oh my... I called my 7 year old over... and then rushed him off. The Bible has some parts that need explained easily to children :)
  13. Hi There! Here's the deal; we have a couple ways to do our history cycle. I'm wondering which way would be best; can you please give me your thoughts. For kids under 1st, we are doing another class instead of "classical history"; For kids in 7th and 8th, we are doing The All American History (2 years) and starting for Highschool, MFW.(which starts in Ancient) So, for 1st-6th, either..... All 42 weeks... over a few years... or 1 book a year. One is more "rushed" and one is "more relaxed" but doesn't fit into the "do a History Cycle each year. So, 1st SOTW Volume 1 2nd SOTW Volume 2 3rd SOTW Volume 3 4th SOTW Volume 4 Or All the books split into 30 weeks each (1 chapter a week) which has us doing Volumes 1-4 over 6 years... (plus a few weeks for other history info we've found) Which one, and why?? :)
  14. Yes on the insurance ;) It's between $350 and $500 I think...Maybe a bit more. This puts up over budget, but with a fundraiser or two... we'll be ok. I'm very excited, and because it was so hard to find, I value the thought... hopefully which will be "the opportunity" for us to be there. It's big enough for us to actually grow into... I'm SOOOO excited!!! On Monday, I'll know whether to cry or be excited!! :)
  15. Sorry for you! Mostly sorry for her kids... and sorry for this situation she can't/won't get herself out of... SHE may be ok going through it, but her kids have no choice ;( Sorry!! :(
  16. Maybe a poster with pictures of all your kids... and ones of your mom... with a "Happy Mother's Day" Caption at the top....
  17. I find out on Monday.... (the board meets on Sunday) SO, pray for me/us please... It's 12 rooms or so.... and perfect location. I'm SOOO excited with the thought.... $2500 for the "utilities" and the person said that he doesn't need "rent" but he's checking with "The board"..... and I'm thinking that between $1000-$2000 more for "donation".... for the 30 or so weeks we use it.... :) Don't know if this is a "Decent price" other places, but I think it is here... and it's the only place I've found... :)
  18. Yup, what others say... Organic, no soy or corn... pasture fed... Way to go.... (and get the "parts" for your dog...if you have one :))
  19. ugh... my husband uses his own food dehydrator for meat. It leaves a smell in the dryer. I love bananas, strawberries (for salad later, with some almonds/pecans...YUM!), fruit leather.... Lots of stuff :)
  20. Gosh, this being on here is just like a tease!! I keep thinking about it. There are at least 5 classical schools within 1.5 hrs from here that I can think of. I am soooo excited. I really want small and just so I can hear her, but of course, then all those who want to hear couldn't... so.... I would love to put something together so all around here could... sans any distractive noises... I am REALLY excited and just wish for more INFOOOOOOO...... Because I already have people asking questions... and... well... I just hope I'm close :) (And, I so hope it's not the one day I have something planned :)) Or, during the time I'm suppose to be in Israel. :)
  21. I'm sorry; that stinks! ;( Hugs... and... well... that just stinks... I'm really sorry! :(
  22. This is what goes against "following Christ"? http://www.crnano.org/whatis.htm What is Nanotechnology? A basic definition: Nanotechnology is the engineering of functional systems at the molecular scale. This covers both current work and concepts that are more advanced. In its original sense, 'nanotechnology' refers to the projected ability to construct items from the bottom up, using techniques and tools being developed today to make complete, high performance products. With 15,342 atoms, this parallel-shaft speed reducer gear is one of the largest nanomechanical devices ever modeled in atomic detail. LINK The Meaning of Nanotechnology When K. Eric Drexler (right) popularized the word 'nanotechnology' in the 1980's, he was talking about building machines on the scale of molecules, a few nanometers wide—motors, robot arms, and even whole computers, far smaller than a cell. Drexler spent the next ten years describing and analyzing these incredible devices, and responding to accusations of science fiction. Meanwhile, mundane technology was developing the ability to build simple structures on a molecular scale. As nanotechnology became an accepted concept, the meaning of the word shifted to encompass the simpler kinds of nanometer-scale technology. The U.S. National Nanotechnology Initiative was created to fund this kind of nanotech: their definition includes anything smaller than 100 nanometers with novel properties. Much of the work being done today that carries the name 'nanotechnology' is not nanotechnology in the original meaning of the word. Nanotechnology, in its traditional sense, means building things from the bottom up, with atomic precision. This theoretical capability was envisioned as early as 1959 by the renowned physicist Richard Feynman. I want to build a billion tiny factories, models of each other, which are manufacturing simultaneously. . . The principles of physics, as far as I can see, do not speak against the possibility of maneuvering things atom by atom. It is not an attempt to violate any laws; it is something, in principle, that can be done; but in practice, it has not been done because we are too big. — Richard Feynman, Nobel Prize winner in physics Based on Feynman's vision of miniature factories using nanomachines to build complex products, advanced nanotechnology (sometimes referred to as molecular manufacturing) will make use of positionally-controlled mechanochemistry guided by molecular machine systems. Formulating a roadmap for development of this kind of nanotechnology is now an objective of a broadly based technology roadmap project led by Battelle (the manager of several U.S. National Laboratories) and the Foresight Nanotech Institute. Shortly after this envisioned molecular machinery is created, it will result in a manufacturing revolution, probably causing severe disruption. It also has serious economic, social, environmental, and military implications.
