  1. This sounds like a good time to take a gap year, work a part-time job, take a few CLEPs and establish residency in CA. The credits he would receive in NC might not even transfer.
  2. I'm thinking of doing this in a couple of years (high school math).
  3. Yes, take him. The stings could be infected, even if he hasn't been scratching. It happened to me a week ago and I am on antibiotics as well as antihistamines. ETA: get a sharpie and dot the outline of the affected areas -- then in a few hours you can see if it has changed for better or worse.
  4. Praying for you and baby. :grouphug:
  5. Oh my goodness...another mom with a love of Japanese stationery products. Opening a store would be great but to make it better, catered meals would be brought in every day.
  6. I'm so sad. My mom (now 79) went on a double date with him when she was a teen or maybe her early 20s. Here's a link to Wichita Lineman performed before that terrible disease took him away. :( RIP Glen.
  7. At the end of this past school year I quit several major activities. It feels *great* even though I won't see my friends as much as before.
  8. Just wanted to add...the drive up and down the coast takes a lot longer than it would appear to take based on a map, so plan accordingly. You have some great suggestions here!
  9. It is for a daughter. She has not been a very enthusiastic reader until now.
  10. Thank you! I just pulled the six per year out of my head...I think we could do more. Some have already been covered...Iliad, The Scarlet Letter, and we're not finished with The Odyssey.
  11. I hadn't thought about it but I think six per year would be about right.
  12. If you had two years to read classics/Shakespeare, which titles would you choose? (must include Dante's Inferno -- I have had a specific request for that.)
  13. The beginning of Saxon Alg 2 (first two lessons) contains a *lot* of geometry, just to warn you. It seems to be an entire review of the geometry covered in Alg. 1. However, your student will get a lot of practice with it throughout the course. Don't let those first two lessons scare you off!

They have Geology programs.
  15. Lori, you are so awesome. Thanks for spelling it all out. :hurray:
  16. Taking logic prior to 8th grade may be too early. You're fine.
  17. I don't know a lot about it but had the impression that illegal opioid drugs (stronger than from the pharmacy) were the cause of the spike in deaths.
  18. Never knew you could freeze avocados!
  19. Every time my detailed weekly plans change and get scrapped. This year instead of plans we will have a 1-page syllabus for each course and highlight it as items are completed.
  20. The lint trap is easy - love it. The knob can be turned between settings. I haven't noticed a soak cycle but that doesn't mean there is not one. The water does not fill if the lid is open. The washer is fairly quiet. The biggest unexpected plus for me is the dryer. It actually dries clothing in one cycle and the clothes can sit for a while without wrinkling. My previous dryer never got clothing dry the first cycle and my clothes would wrinkle horribly.
  21. I have had my new SQ washer and dryer for a couple of months now -- basic older models with knobs, not digital display. Love doesn't begin to describe how I feel about them. I never imagined I would enjoy laundry but I do now. I call them my maid and butler.
  22. Thanks for posting...interesting!
