Popular Post Loowit
We have been socially distancing since the whole Covid lockdown stuff started. We were trying to protect DH mostly, but none of us wanted to get sick either. All but one of us has high risk factors. We continue to mask, do grocery pick up, etc. We threw caution to the wind and went on a trip to see DS graduate from boot camp. Super important trip for all of us. We took precautions like masking indoors, choosing hotels with good cleaning procedures, and so on. We even avoided doing a sit down restaurant, which we had planned originally. About two days after we got home, I got sick. I figure it is a my own fault. We went to the museum on base, and I forgot to bring a mask with me. No idea if that is where I picked this up. It isn't Covid, I don't think. I have had three negative tests. But I am still miserable with a cough, runny nose, etc. It was worth it to see my boy graduate, but now unless I am miraculously better by tomorrow I won't get to go with him to the airport to see him off, and I have no idea the next time we will see him in person will be. I am glad that none of the others have caught this, so there is that. edit to remove picture Edited April 19, 2022 by Loowit 63 1
mommyoffive
Awww, I am so glad you got to go see him!! Yay. That really stinks that you got sick. I have heard so many people are getting other things other than Covid now that everyone is basically done with all the restrictions and things. I hope you feel better soon. Are you feeling to ill to go tomorrow? Or is about not getting him sick? Could you just mask and go? I hope you feel better soon.

I am afraid they wouldn't let me in the airport with "covid like symptoms" even with a mask, but I could be wrong. I would definitely mask if I went. Spryte
I’m so sorry you’re sick, but also so happy for you that you got to see him! You must be so proud! Hoping you feel better and better! And that no one else gets sick. Oh! If you’re worried about DH, maybe continue with precautions? It took my (elderly) parent nine days of illness to finally have a positive RAT. Yikes!
NorthwestMom
Yes, I work with children and all the common childhood diseases are back - colds, norovirus, etc. It sucks. Congrats to your son!
fraidycat
Aww, it sucks that you got sick. But, I am glad you got to see him graduate. I hope you feel better soon.
freesia
You do look proud and you should be!!! Thanks for sharing the picture. I hope you feel better, soon. We just got over a non-Covid cold ( multiple tests for multiple people) and it’s not fun getting sick again. The break was good!

maize
I doubt anyone will stop you from entering the air port. Wear a mask and go see him off!
Jean in Newcastle
If it’s at our large international airport, there is no screening to enter the airport. You do need to wear a mask (required for everyone. ). If you are actively coughing or sneezing then I might consider staying home for everyone’s peace of mind, but if your cold symptoms are more subtle then I would put on a mask and go.

Loowit
Update: Thanks everyone for your sympathy and suggestions. My son changed his flight to very early this morning so he wouldn't have to get a hotel room for overnight. I was feeling a lot better this morning and was able to go see him off. I wore a mask the whole time, even though they dropped the mask mandate at the airport (I think, it is so confusing right now). Also, because he is active duty military, I got a pass to go see him off at the gate. It was hard letting him go.
mommyoffive
Yay for feeling better and getting to see him off. Sending lots of hugs, that has to be so hard sending him off.
