dorothy
At the very least, embarrasing. My friends just brought lunch over. They have not seen my dc in months. I have not had lunch with them in months. We were having a nice time. My usually normal children - who have NEVER done anything even remotely like this is private - decided to draw my a BIG picture on our school whitebaord. It was a picture of an anatomically-correct boy peeing. The caption read, "I have to pee!" They thought it was hilarious. They are ds5 and dd8. I was mortified. I did not expect it and can't imagine why this would seem like a good idea to them. I am very clear about appropriate and innapropriate behavior - potty stuff is PRIVATE here. Is this normal or wacko? What do I do now, besides have the earth swallow me?:glare:

Jean in Newcastle
It sounds like your friends don't have children? I think your dc found a very effective way to get some attention while you were having some nice adult time with your friends. (And while it might have been embarrassing I wouldn't get too worked up about it!)
Andie
OH, you poor thing.:lol::lol::lol: What did you say to them? How'd your friends react?
Mommy22alyns
Sorry... Boys aged 5 and 8? Normal goofiness, IMO.
Jennifer3141
That's normal giggling at bodily functions. Your friends probably pee too. Don't worry. :D
mo2
I'd just laugh and chalk it up to normal child behavior. I swear my kids were born thinking the word "butt" is funny. And they are so proud of their farts they annouce them everywhere.
dorothy
"laugh" about it. They acted like they didn't see the "parts." And I said, "It IS anatomically correct. We have spent A LOT of time studying nudes in museums!"
Parrothead
At least your boys haven't learned to fart on command. That joyful occasion will arrive one day.
Stacy in NJ
If yours need therapy then mine need to go inpatient immediately. If I hear another fart joke or "subtle" reference to someones butt crack, I think I'll scream.:ack2:
Remudamom
With boys that age you got off easy.
Michelle T
My 12 yo DS would have thought that was hilarious! He currently enjoys spending large portions of his day saying silly words or phrases over and over again in goofy voices. I can't tell you how tired I am of hearing "blue tomato", or "weasel" in a silly voice. Anyway, boys do love their hijinks! I'm sure girls do too, but I only have a boy. And a DH, who still thinks that stuff is hilarious. Sigh. Michelle T
Pink Fairy
Little boys--gotta love 'em! Therapy for you might be in order, just to help you cope, but not for the boys. The boys are totally normal. :grouphug: :D :grouphug: ETA: Did I miss that one was a girl? Oh well, little girls can be stinkers just like little boys. Still no worries. TCoppock
Normal grammar school age behavior. We are doing Abeka Science and learning the flowers. One of the flowers is Trailing Arbutus and my son smacks his rear end and announces Trailing Ar-BUTT-us every time we study. Oh well... Tammyla
dd8 would be privately talked to at our house about what is appropriate behavior for an eight-year-old-young-lady. The ds5 would be given more of a break. Yes, normal behavior to test the boundaries and get some attention, however... my attention would not be wanted... kwim? And my ds thought all things dealing with poo or pee hysterical for longer than I care to remember.:001_huh: At the very least, embarrasing. My friends just brought lunch over. Peela
Very normal! Making too big a fuss about stuff like that only makes it worse, IMO!
WTMindy
Is this the part where I am supposed to look stern and not giggle? You gotta admit, it is a little funny. If it were my kids I'd have a little reminder about private and public appropriateness and take a picture of their drawing so you can laugh about it later. Ria
They are just being kids. I certainly wouldn't be embarrassed about it. Just laugh it off and move on. Ria
