I am having a low level anxiety attack tonight

My spouse is active duty. I have very real fears about the national security of the country as well as the safety of my family in the states. Racists have regained legitimacy. The last time that happened, people like me suffered grave harm.

I am so sorry, Sneezy.  I am so, so sorry. ((hugs))

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Great quote bibiche, thanks for reminding me how important it is to stand up to Hate.

so next time I see the Wolfpack of posters "coming for the so called Hateful Racist Xenophobes ,". I'll try to remember the importance of history and this quote.

I have gotten so much good for me, my brand new homeschool, and my daughter from being on these boards and from the entire hive. It will be a real tragedy if that Wolfpack of posters succeeds in making me leave the boards again out of shame and anger.

Calling someone a hateful racist xenophobe no matter if you think you are right or not, justified or not, is NOT ok. You want to call a KKK member that, be my guest. I would agree with you :)

I'm so sorry. I was thinking when I took the dog outside for the last time before bed tonight of how unsettling this must be for many people I know and care for.

The sun will rise again tomorrow, but it won't be shining as brightly for many of us.

Don't let something as stupid as an election allow you to even think about it!

You stay and so are all of us who may disagree with others. That's just life. We can agree regarding some things and disagree about other issues.

If you get worried you can hide behind me for a little while... :)

I am having a hard time believing it.  They got predictions wrong.  My state wasn't the most red state.  At least one other voted much more heavily for Trump.  Well polling is fraught with problems and why we all still should vote.  I am very happy that my state voted yes for protecting state park funding.

I disagree with you. This odious man ran his campaign on both wolf whistles and blatant calls to racism, xenophobia, and hatred. I have no problem at all calling that out. And people who voted with him are complicit. Hatred MUST be named.

I did not vote with him. Your opinion of him does not mean you can label anyone else and attack them and come for "them." That's Hate too.

By the way way back before I left last time, I was getting attacked for not answering questions from people who were attacking me. At the time, I did not have time to spend posting. So I was shamed for not answering. Because I didn't have time, I was busy in real life.

I don't get it. What does it mean - the rolling smiley? Why is it disgusting?

They are complaining about this post with the rolling smiley in another forum, where if you aren't a member you and the poster can't see them.

Edit: which in my opinion is pretty twisted.

I took their complaints to mean they found it shocking to see a roll smiley, I assume because they feel it's a rude response to something they take very seriously.... Genocide & fascism?

Great, then you are not complicit and for that  I felicitate you. But you are wrong re hatred. People who vote for hate are hateful. People who vote for racism are racist. People who vote for xenophobia are xenophobes.  Hate=hate=hate=hate=hate.

Anyone who wants to can join the WTM Politics group. Everyone has been invited to join several times, it isn't a secret club.  People take discussion there because you don't have to pussy-foot around but actually have a political discussion.

That isn't twisted.  Come on over if you want to discuss politics.  DISCUSS is the key word.

Genocide and fascism should be shocking to everyone.  If it isn't, THAT's twisted.

I don't usually post on chat, but, I need to get something off my chest. This isn't a small minority voting for trump. This isn't just old people and nasty unliked people. This is a majority of your country voting for him.

Do you truly believe every single one of those people, the majority of your country, voted out of hatred and racism? If you do, then you have a very depressing 4 years ahead, surrounded by a majority of people who you believe are hateful racists.

Or, perhaps, there are other reasons and beliefs at play, and that some people voted for trump who don't agree with every racist or hateful thing he said. It's possible to vote for someone and still dislike half of what they said, it seems to me people aren't exactly fans of Hillary either.

I just can't get over the number of people who are calling the MAJORITY OF THEIR COUNTRY (if he wins, obviously) racist and hateful and xenophobes. This isn't a small group of bad people we're talking about here.

That is actually the point. It's not possible to separate his hateful, racist, divisive, ignorant self from his platform because that IS his platform Edited by Barb_

So if I don't say anything else to anger You into labeling me again, you will let your pack know I am no longer to be considered a Hateful Racist Xenophone, and I won't be shamed or flamed off the boards by the wolf pack?

Edit: that would be nice to know.

Yeah I get that. I scrolled up and thought she was quoting a few posts that made her laugh.

I get now that people perceive it as gloating.

She laughed at genocide, Liz. Literally quoted and laughed. There is no other way to perceive her intentions

Yeah I wanted you to know, since you seemed so upset last time we spoke. I was too busy to respond to you. Real life stuff, kwim? Definitely not a good reason to shame me off these boards.

Edit: No, everyone is not welcome on the politics forum.

Well, that's why I'm so upset by this. When a politician campaigns on KKK fodder and uses blatantly anti-Semitic "closing argument" ad, what does it say when people vote for him? People are genuinely scared for their wellbeing, and they now know most of the country doesn't have their backs.

I don't recall anyone doing that at all.

Her follow-up post seems to make it clear she's laughing at the "end of the world", chicken little reaction, not at genocide. That this election result = genocide might be an opinion shared by posters in this thread, but her post does not reflect laughing at genocide to me.

Well Bibiche mentioned it over there behind that firewall, it was her way of rallying the troops.

I stand by my point that that's twisted.

I actually have no idea what you are talking about. No one ever asked you to leave the Political board. I believed we asked you to elaborate on things and you chose to leave. You seem to have a bit of a persecution complex.

You are lying. You should be ashamed.

LOL It's absolutely true! I myself just for one am not welcome on the politics forum! Because you made it that way!

Ok, I should be ashamed.

Please stop trying to shame me away... Again. It's just mean.

Edit: to be fair, it was not just you. There were several people involved :) bullies!

Well, not anyone is welcome in the Politics group. I am not welcome there.

In the Current Events group, anyone is indeed welcome. Just FYI.

Lying is shameful behavior.

You are lying about me.  I don't appreciate it.  That is mean.  I am not being mean in defending myself.

You are lying to the people reading this thread, that there is some group "behind a firewall" that they can't join or wouldn't be welcome in.

I never shamed you in the politics group.  Anyone is free to join & read ALL the threads I've posted on and see that I didn't.

She QUOTED martin niemoller and laughed. There is no way to make that ok. It was a horrible thing to do. People are frightened and you don't kick people when they are curled up in a fetal position. Snicker privately if you must, but if you Point and laugh you should be ashamed.

The moderator of that group was extremely kind and patient with you.  I was disappointed that it ended up that way.

Yup.  They didn't follow the rules and were warned several times.  I think that's fair, don't you?

My impression was that the rules were very subjectively applied and that pressure from certain members of the group may have hastened the removal.

Just clarifying the statement that "anyone is welcome" in the Political group. That is untrue. There is at least one exception.

I always respond in a professional manner with no name calling or labeling. Sometimes this is unwelcome.

Like I tried to clear up earlier, i was demanded (not asked) to answer my attackers. I declined. Partly because I was busy, real life stuff. Um, I was busy!

To quote you earlier, did the Socialist, the Trade Union member, etc etc have a persecution complex?

No, they did not, they should have been spoken out for.
