lynn
She doesn't really want anything but birthday without something fun to open, just won't do it. So ideas, please. She's 11, creative, loves science and math. No time to offer American girl. Edited October 10, 2016 by lynn
mamiof5
Having similar issue with 12yr old dd for Christmas. I hinted the idea of a digital camera and she's so excited!! Would your dd enjoy learning about photography?
Jaybee
A subscription to a magazine (or 2) covering her interests? I'm not sure which ones but I'm sure others will have some good suggestions. There were some on the magazine thread recently.
zoobie
Something to represent a cool activity? Wrap a stuffed giraffe for a zoo trip or ??? for tickets to a show?
bettyandbob
How soon is the birthday? I took my DD on a 3day trip to NYC for her 11th birthday. It was an excellent mother daughter adventure. We were able to go right on her birthday. Nana gave a gift of spending money for the trip to dd. An overnight at a science museum or aquarium or maybe a behind the scenes tour at such a place if you can't go overnight.
Mothersweets
I got my 14yo dd a Fujifilm Instax camera for Christmas last year and it was so much fun! My 11yo could work it easily, too. I have bought more film from Michaels using a coupon and it was cheaper than Amazon.
naturegirl
She doesn't really want anything but birthday without something fun to open, just won't do it. So ideas, please. She's 11, creative, loves science and math. No time to offer American girl. What type of science is she into? There are tons of science kits available in stores or in Amazon. We were at our science museum today and my son pointed out a physics workshop he wanted and several robotics kits. But there are also kits that revolve around biology, chemistry and geology as well. We also love some of the games Think Fun makes like Circuit Maze, Lazer Maze and Gravity Maze.
heartlikealion
Alternatively, could you take her into a store where she picks out the item? Michael's or the mall or a science museum with a gift shop?
lynn
Thank you. I have some great ideas for Christmas now also. Can't believe baby girl is 11 Thursday.
MercyA
Since she likes math and science, maybe a t-shirt from here: http://girlswillbehq.com/shop/ or here: http://www.amightygirl.com/clothing?clothing_themes=
SKL
I was wondering if there were some age-appropriate robotics kits for my similarly-aged girls. Would she like that?
Dmmetler
DD11 has both birthday and Christmas within the same month, and what I do is turn her loose on Amazon to make a wish list. I don'4 necessarily buy from it, but it gives a place for me (and grandparents) to start. Edited October 11, 2016 by dmmetler
