Alicia64
My son loves his teacher. I've been focused on other things this year and just realized that I didn't pick up a small gift for the teacher. I'm thinking a plate of homemade cookies. Any other suggestions? He's not married, is in his 50's, quiet, fairly introverted. Thanks, A.
Junie
My first thought was some interesting guitar picks. A quick amazon search pulled these up (but they are pricey, unfortunately): http://www.amazon.com/Vincent-Van-Gogh-Guitar-Picks/dp/B00ZKJ72IY/ref=sr_1_14?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1450744790&sr=1-14 Maybe your local music shop would have something like this? SparklyUnicorn
Just don't buy one of those boxes of Rocher chocolates. Let's just say I now have to go and buy another box to give to the Russian teacher. :leaving:
whitestavern
What about the guitar pick maker? It's like a hole punch but in the shape of a pick. You can make picks out of anything. My son's teacher had one.
Pippen
Personally I'd go with a plate of goodies along with a gift card. My guitar player is really fussy about picks. Unique ones that I've bought sit on the shelf as decoration, and he didn't like the DIY picks made with the pickmaker. We had a lot of fun buying them, but they just weren't useful. Kerileanne99
The guitar pick maker from Think Geek came to mind:) http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/e91b/?itm=126231473085custom0electronics_%26_gadgets%26custom1music_gear%26id9e91b&rkgid=1844138446&cpg=ogpla&source=google_pla&adpos=1o1&creative=46958729205&device=m&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=Cj0KEQiA496zBRDoi5OY3p2xmaUBEiQArLNnK-F8oc9kJGOb2J_cCKPkD1gTJVpbjXX0L0BX-a8ste4aAkJy8P8HAQ But how about music note cookies or guitar shaped cookies? Bluegoat
I gave our piano teacher some pickles I made, and a thing of tea and an ornament.
AmandaVT
We gave DS's piano teacher a gift bag of cookies and a small ($10) gift card to starbucks.
goldberry
I'm in favor of consumables (goodies, gift cards). Many people don't like a lot of clutter and small gift purchases easily end up as clutter. Then there is guilt attached in trying to get rid of it. I convinced DD to go with Starbucks cards for her teachers. Edited December 22, 2015 by goldberry

I've been given so many of those tiny little gifts and then. . . what? I feel terrible about tossing! I went with a plate of homemade cookies and a gift cert. to the movies! Thank you everyone! SebastianCat
We gave our piano and guitar teachers Chick fil A calendars, which come with cards redeemable for free food each month. But we have a Chick fil A right down the street from the church where they teach lessons. I try to give "teacher gifts" that are either a) consumable, like cookies; or b) regift-able, like a calendar, gift card, etc. Especially when I don't know the teacher well, I want to give more generic gifts that they could regift if they can't use it themselves.
