Ottakee
I am loving the weather this week. Today a friend and I went out kayaking... In t shirts and capris. It was beautiful. We saw a blue heron several times and a bald eagle circling around. Some years by this time we have snow.
creekland
I'm officially jealous. We have a great week this week too, but I'm stuck in school - great kids - but I'd rather be outside. We ought to have school on snow days and take abnormal great weather days off instead. We did that when we homeschooled. I do it when I'm working part time. Not being able to do it is a big negative (for me) of working full time (sigh).
umsami
Oh, it must have been lovely. Had a few friends post pictures from Michigan and NY today....about what a lovely day it is. I wish kayaking where I lived didn't have the risk of moccasins and such. :)
MEmama
It's beautiful here in Maine, too. Really unbelievably so. Last year on this date we had our first big snowstorm and lost power. Today the windows are open. Love! :)
T'smom
I think I live near you! I am in MI and I posted on fb today about wearing shorts! I spent most of the day raking and blowing leaves, but the weather was so great, I was loving it.

I don't know for sure that they were either going kayaking or had already been.

Mergath
Fun! It was really nice here in MN today, too. Today it got up to 65, and it's supposed to stay this warm for at least a couple more days. This weather is bizarre.

That said, another friend and I do have thoughts/plans of kayaking in the snow if we can get a nice 2-4 inches of fluffy snow while the bayous are still ice free so we can navigate them.
creekland
I'm staring out the window here at sunlight and the computer telling me it's 64 on the way up to 71. It's supposed to be that way essentially all week. :glare: I'd love to go hiking or kayaking instead. Homeschooling rocks. It just doesn't pay the bills (sigh). Ottakee
I went horseback riding today and hope to walk the pier by the beach tonight at sunset. Tomorrow is riding with a group of friends, walking with another friend, and the hopefully kayaking with my boys and possibly riding with my girls. Thursday is another kayaking, walking, and riding day. Next week will be clean the house and do my work week. In Michigan you have to take advantage of 70° days.....esp. In November.
MEmama
We went mountain biking today--in shorts!! I'll take this warmth as long as it will last. Ski season is plenty long. :)

Ottakee
It was so nice today that we cancelled school.. We used to do that too. We never took snow days, we instead would take a SUN day....esp a late fall one or the first nice day of spring

Granny_Weatherwax
We went hiking in a local forest preserve yesterday with some friends. The weather has been beautiful here! I'm in IL, too, and the weather has been beautiful. I have hiked 30 miles in the last 3 days and will be heading out for about 5 more today. I wish I could kayak but the nearest body of water (the town lake) is drained every fall for bank clean up. :(

I have hiked 30 miles in the last 3 days and will be heading out for about 5 more today. Hiking sounds fun. I'm sitting here watch a class finish up a quiz on photosynthesis and when they're done, I'll start cellular respiration. Later I'll get to grade their quizzes (and those from another class). I wish we could go out on a hike talking about photosynthesis and cellular respiration! Earlier today I got to do a lockdown drill with my plant and animal class - teaching them practical ways how to prepare and fight against an intruder in a classroom (or anywhere, really). It's sad to know that's been incorporated into our curriculum, but I guess I'll admit we've had discussions with our own boys about the same topic should the skills ever be necessary. It just has never been part of any specific class time (just as fire drills weren't at home, but we went over what to do if the house is on fire, etc).
rocassie
Yeah, we are loving the MI weather right now. The kids are all outside enjoying the sunshine and warm. I'm just about ready to join them with a book to read and a glass of lemonade. Instead of getting a snow day we are having a sunshine day. :)
FaithManor
Dh would have the boys out now in the lovely Michigan weather if it weren't for us being knee deep with my parents issues. The river is not close enough for the boys to haul them alone, and ds has never towed the trailer before and needs that driving lesson. It is gorgeous out there!

reign
I'm in Michigan too! It was such a nice day but we spent it at co-op and karate. It was nice not needing a coat. The snow will be here soon enough.
