Moxie
I need a dessert/treat/cookie for a thing tomorrow. It needs to be gluten free-ish (person avoids eating gluten but isn't allergic). Are Rice Krispie treats g free?
snickerplum
Yes. A super easy g-free option, especially if you don't want to buy "special" ingredients.
Laurie
Rice Krispy treats are only gluten free if you use gluten free Rice Krispies. (The regular Rice Krispies have a malt flavoring that is not gluten free.)
umsami
You need to use the GF Rice Krispies, which I used to see at Target, but don't anymore. The three ingredient peanut butter cookies are GF....can put a Hershey Kiss on them too. (! cup peanut butter, 1 egg, 1 cup sugar.)
Seasider
If you're going to make something, the Betty Crocker baking mixes aren't bad. I stir some chocolate chips into the chocolate cake mix, and dust the finished muffins with powdered sugar.
AnniePoo
GF Rice Krispies have been officially discontinued. What about puppy chow with rice chex? Or Betty Crocker Brownies. Ice cream? Buckeyes.
yucabird
Could you make the rice crispy treats, subbing corn flakes? For something a little fancier, Nigella's flourless chocolate cake is simple-to-make and delicious: http://www.nigella.com/recipes/view/frances-flourless-chocolate-cake-2443
umsami
The Betty Crocker brownies are really good.

AnniePoo
If you had rice krispie treats on your mind, maybe you could make them with fruity or cocoa pebbles instead.
umsami
You could also buy popsicles or ice cream. Most varieties are gluten-free (but check first...stuff like cookie dough and cookies and cream is out.)

Mama Geek
Several flavors of Bryers Ice cream are even though not certified. There are other brands that are fine too. If you go to a health food store you can get not kelloggs brand rice krispies that are gluten free.

I used to have it on Subscribe and Save with Amazon, but they stopped being able to get it around late Nov/early December....so I kind of forgot about it. There are GF brown puffed rice in the health food aisle. Just saw that Cheerios is releasing five different types of Cheerios as GF in August of 2015.
