i give myself allergy shots weekly.  Most of the time it puffs up a bit and itches but that's it.  For some reason I can't fathom (since everything looks fine when I look at it) the sites hurt this time.

Let me know if I need to throat punch anything.  I'm that kind of friend. :hat:

So... why change the table then?

Because sil inherited from a grandmother or for some reason it is very special to her, and she wants to keep it in the family. And dh agreed to take it without consultation.:( It is pretty and nice and all, but I love my table. Which is now taken apart and put in the garage. It will be saved until one of the children get a home and need a table. Then grandbabies can be raised up with it. I hope. That is what I am telling myself, anyway.

Next Generation was very pro-Socialist, pro human compassion, anti-violence. One of my favorite shows. Just as culturally/socially aware as the original was, in a different social context.

The Borg were a metaphor. :P

Star Wars is just FUN.

They lost 50-45 but made a good showing.  The loss was at least in part due to bad refs.  The other team molested our point guard the entire way down the court for an hour and it was never called.  Ya can't do that, yo.  He's amazing, btw.  No one can guard him.  He does what he wants and goes where he wants, but the constant physical contact and jersey pulling must wear on him and affect his game even though he keeps a cool head.

I agree about the abbreviations, but I am used to them.  It is what it is.

In this case, I would advocate the overused apostrophe for clarity.  Ds's.  Imperfect but permissible.

Now I have to know your plans.  Also, where are your dd's located?  These are things I suddenly need to know.

Kitten Killer!  (But possibly necessary)

Yay for a hard fought game.  Boo for bad refs.

I *think* I have finished Christmas shopping.  First time ever this early.

Good morning.

DD is Pirate 101ing, DH is sleeping, DHorsies are likely starving, but DM (darling me) am coffeeing.

(The DDogs and DCat are fed, happy, and napping.)

I am also in a mood.  I suspect that the stress of Preparation Day is building (thank you, Susan, for the accurate name.)

Uncommon Goods looks to be a site very bad for my bank balance.

Dawn, I'm sorry about the table.  I vote with the "ditch it" crew, FWIW.

Jean, :grouphug: .  I had these injections in my arms when I was trying to make my body not eat my young and they burned LIKE FIRE.  Mega-sympathy coming your way.

Tex, do I need to bring the bazooka and visit the ref?  (Payment for the Plan.)

We are StarWarsians.

We have a table like this.  My grandfather made it.  Fortunately, an uncle with a vacation home took it until my brother built a house big enough for it.  It is huge and round.

Slache, have a good ultrasound today, and report asap.

Yes.  Is this the gender one?  I am thinking it is too early for this.

I've found kindred spirits, so I'm not totally disillusioned. Sorry, but I read any post that includes those as coming from the mouth of some Donna Reed/Pleasantville type. :p

I suppose I should actually see Pleasantville before I comment more..... but here are some alternatives for you in the meanwhile:

swsd_ (said with sarcasm dear husband/wife/son/daughter )

di_ (dear idiot son/daughter/husband/wife)

pdd_ (piece of dog dung son/daughter/husband/wife)

cbimd_ or cbibd_ (can't believe I married dear husband/wife or can't believe I birthed dear son/daughter)

TLTYN_ (too lazy to type name husband/wife/son/daughter)

Pick One.  :D

I dunno, for me it's just not that hard to type out "son", "daughter", "wife" and add age if relevant. But then I hardly post here from my phone and I type around 150 WPM on these new fangled computer keyboards. I was slightly slower on an IBM Selectric back in the day. :P

Good Morning!  I slept in until 6:30.  Woo-Hoo.

Susan, Elephant Ninja throat punchers at your sevice.  What the heck?  Defective y chromosome?

Tex, I'm so impressed with your self-control.  I think sitting behind fans would have inspired me to join them in vocalizing displeasure at the calls.

I have Lamb's and Nesbit's Shakespeare.  Maybe I will add some after Christmas.

Renai, cyber sales are only a couple days away now, but I highly suspect they will not benefit the two carts I have filled on two currently opened tabs.  Because I'm optimistic like that.

What tabs do you have open? I wanna take a look.

Easy for you maybe.  I have 5 daughters...  And arthritis.

Typing dd5, dd7, dd9, dd11, and dd13 is much easier.

There is much to do today. I awoke at 6am because of dumb alarm, but stayed in bed until 8am. It is now 9 and I am still in jammies. I really should hit the store to get forgotten and changed-mind-on stuff before it gets too crazy. But, I don't feel like it. But I must.

I believe it is and no it is not.  Said the woman who had ultrasounds 2x/wk for much of pregnancy.

True story:  I was so excited to have my kids watch Star Wars, but then they were nonplussed.

Also, while I sat here on the couch with my coffee in my lap, the kitten tore around the room, running across my body and coffee at such a high rate of speed that nothing even spilled.  I think I will sign her up for agility trials.  She is half nuts.

I have made:

raw cranberry salad

peanut butter pie

These are the two easiest items.  Next up:

making pie crust, which I really hate, though I found a gf mix in the pantry yesterday - still very labor and ingredient intensive

squeezing key limes

To be done later:

peel and boil sweet potatoes and make sweet potato casserole

make pumpkin pie

make key lime pie

examine the turkey to make sure it is thawed and prepare it to go in the oven tomorrow morning

If you want to type out these words and opt out of the internet madness, you may.  No one will come to your home and force you to type the annoying subs at gunpoint.  Promise. :hat:

If: you'll

Then: ya'll

(Because ya=you, because Southern, yo)

That is all.

Honey!  Y'all is a contraction for "you all", and the apostrophe goes where the letters are left out.

You will (you'll) is a pronoun/verb contraction, but I stand by my assertion.

Been on the phone with SIL, who forgot that cream of mushroom soup contains wheat flour and is now going to the store because she needs the natural brand without it.  I do appreciate this.  Her family is dairy light, so I had to cop to the key lime pie being full of sweetened condensed milk (no real way around this) and the peanut butter pie having one block of cream cheese for the entire, piled up thing.  My nephew evidently has a dairy issue I did not know about.

We should probably just all get together and graze on grass in the backyard while sipping mineral water at holidays.

No.

BTW, I can't believe that you are arguing grammar with Queen Ellie.  omg.gif

I am not arguing. I am giving my point of view. I have tried the other way, and it hurts my fingers and eyes to do so. Thus, I shall continue with ya'll. It will be the only word I misspell on purpose.

I just googled it, and had NO IDEA it was an actual debate. Good grief. People need a life.

P.S.  I spelled it like you did for a long time.  Then my kids corrected me.  Sigh.

But that means letters are being left out on the wrong side of the apostrophe. Every other contraction removes letters from the right side, not the left.

Good morning. Happy Wednesday.

I have to buy more pie and whipped cream because I've already eaten most of it since Saturday.

Also, here's a non-sequitur that will either make you angry or that you'll completely ignore: I loathe the "DD", "DS", "DH" abbreviations on parenting and family forums across the internet. It just reeks of Stepford Family forced pleasantness to me. Why am I alone in this?!

I did no latch hooking last night because I got a copy of Star Wars: Battlefront. This game is not healthy for me. So many hours already... omg. I can't believe that graphics like this are even possible on a gaming console. Kids today are spoiled. :-P

It's going to be a latch hook happy Thanksgiving, and then on to the soldering wires onto a glove while I wear it (to make sure everything's positioned correctly and fits right it really can't be... uhh.. flaccid.)

Oh and I accidentally served the frozen peas I had meant for peas and onions with dinner last night. I can't wait to see what sort of disaster zone my local grocery store looks like a part of when I get there in a couple of hours...

I always found DH and So on creepy but I'm over it.

I feel you on your need for symmetry, but the rule is that the apostrophe goes where the letters have been removed.  I know this because I'm on my third round of First Language Lessons.  I can also chant the being/helping verb chant and most of the preposition chant.  (and a few other things that make awesome party tricks along with tying a cherry stem in a knot)

I just remembered that I dreamed I kissed my not quite a boyfriend in high school Andy.  It was present day.  We decided to kiss each other now because we never got around to it back then.  (Bad timing.)  I kissed every other teenage boy in a tri-county area so I'm not sure why Andy got left out.  Bad timing.  Yeah, that's why.  Andy wrote me the most beautiful love letters, which I symbolically burned when he dated someone else.  He chased me for a long time.  Anyway, I think I have reached oversharing mode so now I will make a pie crust.

Before I go, though, please note my tried and true motto - Kiss early and often. :gnorsi:   :leaving:

The apostrophe is replacing the 'a' in 'all.' Ya all = ya'll.

I just got a call from the vision clinic wanting more details about dd16's vision loss. They moved her appointment from Tuesday to within the next 45 minutes! I'm glad I'm off on vacation. Is this still counted as vacation??

So the barn where thanksgiving is being held has no bathroom, of course. People will have to walk across a corn field to clean-freak sil's* house to use the restroom, wash hands, etc. No, thankyouverymuch. They still want me to make a 7-layer salad and dessert, and only dh and dd16 (maybe not, she don't know about the restroom thing) will be going. So the twins and I and probably ds20 will be at home. I guess I should plan on making dinner here tomorrow. I was planning on Saturday when my brother will probably be down. What to do? What to do?

*For those who don't know, I have 6 sils.

2 are super duper fancy (with white carpeted huge houses) clean-clean-freaks. They have never been to my house in the 22 years dh and I have been married. Because gravel road.

One I absolutely can't stand. Long story, but not too clean-freakish. Still fancy.

The one that gave us the table. Very nice, kinda fancy, kinda clean-freakish, but not rub it in your face. This is the one I will leave my kids with if I die.

The one that is hosting thanksgiving in a barn. Very clean-freak. This is the one that cleaned the crumbs out of my silverware drawer. I have to add that this is not a barn that houses animals. More like a garage I guess.

The oldest sil don't have much to do with family gatherings and does her own thing. Not a clean freak at all and not fancy. My favorite, but she is not motherly at all. Poor choice to raise my kids if I die.
