umsami
Love this, especially the "make your own textbook". http://www.npr.org/blogs/ed/2015/03/09/376596585/the-teacher-who-believes-math-equals-love?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=npr&utm_term=nprnews&utm_content=20150309 She has a blog, too...where she shows you some of her fold-outs and creations. :) http://mathequalslove.blogspot.com
MrsRobinson
I needed a math teacher like that when I was in high school! Cool link, thanks for sharing!

Southern Ivy
I so wish she had been my math teacher. My Algebra 2 and Geometry teachers made me feel like I was the dumbest person on earth. It's taken teaching math to my students and a husband who kindly reteaches me things for me to even begin to think that I MIGHT actually be able to do math.
Scarlett
I heard that on NPR yesterday. She reminds me of my mom. What I kept wondering is how she gets away with it in this day and age of strict curriculum. But good for her!

Miss Tick
Interesting Blog to browse through. I stumbled on her in the past when I was trying to something more hands-on for math. Like her build your own text book but for 4th graders. I gave up eventually. :001_rolleyes:

MistyMountain
Some teachers are really special and this teacher is one of the great ones. I love how she gets the kids excited about math and helps the kids who need it. That really warms my heart when kids needs get met.
MarkT
Love this, especially the "make your own textbook". Great enthusiasm. It is not a "textbook" just a better notebook. A student with strong math desires would want something to read like an actual math text.

mom31257
Thanks for sharing. The "textbook" looks like the popular "interactive notebook" idea. It's sort of like lapbooking. There are tons of ideas on Pinterest and several resources free and on sale at Teachers Pay Teachers. I put together a literary analysis notebook with my book club last year using resources from the above mentioned sites.
