Vida Winter
Someone got the bright idea to reformulate Lipton tea and now it tastes like dishwater. I'd like to find a good, inexpensive tea to replace it.
Catwoman
Have you tried Red Rose? It's stronger but not bitter, and it's around the same price as Lipton.

Catwoman
I love red rose english breakfast tea! :iagree: That is good stuff!!! Their regular black tea that comes in boxes of 48 or 100 tea bags is good, too, and I drink a lot of it. I think I just paid $3.69 for the 100-count box at Walmart last week. It's around the same price in grocery stores, too.
Vida Winter
:auto: .....off to get some Red Rose! Thank You, ladies!
redsquirrel
There is a Tetley tea called 'British Blend' that is pretty good. I prefer PG Tips or Bewley's for my everyday black tea, but not all stores in the US carry those brands. It is imported but not as expensive as Twinings. hornblower
If you can find Suraj, it's a good inexpensive every day tea, with just a hint of Assam. It's often in the section with the Indian foods, rather than the regular teas. someone is selling it on ebay so you can see the box
Corraleno
If you have a Trader Joe's near you, their English Breakfast Tea is excellent and quite cheap (and I say that as someone who lived in the UK for 10 years and drinks a lot of really strong tea). fraidycat
Lipton has always tasted like dishwater. Red Rose, Red Rose all the way! :) I know I'm late to this party, but when I live in certain places in the US and can't find Red Rose, I get large care packages from my Mom with giant boxes of Red Rose. Plus stock up my suitcase on visits home. PG Tips is really good, too. A little pricier than Red Rose.
hornblower
Let us know how you like Red Rose, Vida Winter. I guess I'm in the minority but I detest Red Rose & Lipton equally. Red Rose English Breakfast is barely drinkable for me. Twinings English Breakfast would be my grocery store default if I couldn't get Suraj or splurge on Murchie's.... dsmith
I like Trader Joe's Irish Breakfast tea, which I believe is only $2.99 for 80 bags. Also Tetley British Blend is good and about $3.99 for a box of 80. I love PG Tips but it is more expensive and gives me really bad heartburn for some reason. Vida Winter
Tried Red Rose tonight - very nice, and I'm making a list of all the others mentioned here so if they can be found, we can try them out as well. Thanks for all the help.

LaxMom
We indulge ds and spring for Yorkshire on Amazon. Yorkshire gold is my favorite. But, then, I like a bracing cup of tea.
lailasmum
Yorkshire tea is my day to day tea but I live in the UK and it's probably cheaper. It's probably the best tea bag and pretty strong.
Peach
We generally get the Tetley British Blend, which Albertson's has now. Walmart usually has Luzianne and it's my other favorite.
