momee
I boxed it up, posted on here and the co-op email group. No one wants to buy some of it and I hate to toss it. So much guilt of spending money on stuff that didn't work. Vent over.
Southern Ivy
I know of a bookstore in Tulsa that specializes in used curriculum. Do you have anything like that near you?
dsmith
You could donate to the Book Samaritan. That's what I'm doing - nobody is buying and I can't throw it out. Most of it is in like new condition! The Book Samaritan1715 Grandview AvePawhuska, OK 74056
Zoo Keeper
Donate to Book Samaritan...help out some other homeschoolers in a tight spot. TheBookSamaritan.com has the info and shipping address. TammyinTN
I agree...definitely donate what you can't sell. Someone would love to have it.
Susan C.
If its not that great and you believe in your heart no one else would want to use it, save a child some misery and toss it. :D There is a place you can donate it to, I think in Oklahoma? If there are new editions out, then toss or sell very cheaply. I am whittling my stuff down. I have no trouble selling cheaply to the local homeschool group. You can also do package deals, or put it all on the free table at the next used book sale.
stephanier.1765
I just recently purged everything homeschool since our youngest has now graduated. I found it easier to donate the whole lot. Plus it made me feel good that other homeschoolers would enjoy some of the things my sons and I enjoyed during our school days.
Vida Winter
You could donate to your local thrift store or used book store.
redsquirrel
I donate it to the library sale. That place is full of homeschoolers!
SarahW
Other ideas: Paperbackswap. I run across older edition homeschool books there often. With PBS you pay for shipping, though you get a credit for your own use. Facebook group called Homeschool Curriculum Free for Shipping. You can ask for money via Paypal to cover the cost of shipping. Chris in VA
I think if you donate to a charity (like Book Samaritan) you can write it off your taxes. Get a receipt.
Zoo Keeper
Is Book Samaritan still active? I remember there was some question about it a couple years back... ? It was still active last year.
Peaceful Isle
It was still active last year.Yes, I just donated to them last summer 😃
Dmmetler
There's a used bookstore in a city we go to a couple of times a year that has a large homeschool/education section. I take all my stuff there, they buy what they want, and then I donate the rest.
Farrar
If you want to save shipping, just post it up for free on your local site. Or charge just $1 or a small amount for it or something. I've made good money selling stuff for very little. I mean, it doesn't make up the cost I spent, but getting $5 for something is better than nothing and then it's out of my sight. Or announce that you're coming to the regular park day with all your old stuff to give away. You can't possibly have resources that you used and liked that no one wants at all! I don't believe that! Guest
Thus is the fate of all shiny things. Somebody seriously needs to zombify this thread during the next curriculum buying season.
SparklyUnicorn
No guilt here exactly, but I often cannot get rid of some stuff. There is no inexpensive way to sell stuff. I don't mind giving stuff away for free, but I also don't want to pay money to give it away for free. So, I hear you. I do sometimes just throw stuff out. At least books can go in the recycling bucket.
