Merry Christmas - Mashed potato poll

I was reading Heather's Thanksgiving thread when I realized how many different ways people make mashed potatoes.  So what do you put in yours?

 

I usually put in milk, butter, salt and pepper.  I started making mashed cauliflower a year ago and now sometimes I will make mix of mashed cauliflower and mashed potatoes with cheese, milk, butter salt and pepper.

I don't make mashed potatoes, DH does.  He is constantly finding some new recipe from America's Test Kitchen to try for mashed potatoes, so whatever and however he chooses to make them is FINE with me.  I hate making mashed potatoes!

 

Sometimes he puts in just butter and salt.  Other times he has varied with sour cream or cream cheese.

Butter, chicken stock, salt and pepper. We used to use milk but switched to chicken stock due to a dairy allergy. As it turns out, I prefer the chicken stock to milk. When ds had the dairy allergy we also used olive oil instead of butter. Now that the allergy is gone the butter has returned.

Just a little milk, sour cream, cream cheese.  I tried using olive oil once and everyone hated them.  Maybe I just used too  much. 

 

I would love to add vegetables - shredded kale sounds awesome to me - but I know that would never fly around here.

Oh we're boring mashed potato people. We just use margarine and milk. Each person uses salt and pepper to their own taste. I'm the only one who puts a dollop of sour cream in them.

Pots thru a ricer for zero lumps, butter to coat the startch molecules, then heavy cream. Restaurant style.

Butter and sour cream. I leave a little cooking water in them because I never have milk.

I boil the potatoes with a few cloves of garlic, then I whip with butter, a dollop of plain yogurt, and enough milk to make them creamy.

I put a little bit of milk, butter, a bunch of cream cheese, with a sprinkle of nutmeg.

didnt click because we're on so many food restrictions - a little soy milk, a little (some other milk) and some broth and some olive oil or home-made vegan butter . . . and salt, but not pepper

I leave the skins in.  I like the lumps.  Super smooth mashed potatoes kind of gross me out.

I usually spoon in some Greek yogurt along with cream, butter,salt&pepper.

For holidays/fancy, we use a ricer and add butter, sour cream, cream cheese, and a little garlic salt.   Depending on the consistency, we might add a little milk.    

 

For everyday, mash with milk, butter, and a little salt.    

 

I add pepper to mine at the table.    The rest of the family can add more salt or pepper at the table.

LOL SeaConquest, I checked off "other" because I always put garlic salt in my potatoes along with milk, butter and cheddar cheese.

Mine will probably kill a person, so I don't eat them too often, but they're goooood!

I love garlic mashed potatoes but never thought to boil the potatoes with some garlic. Thanks!!!
