helena
Summer's coming and we like to crank up the AC, close the curtains, and watch good movies. I'd like to make a list mostly (hopefully) from instant watch Netflix and Amazon. Our library has a lot of older titles too. Last week we watched some of the Judy Garland/Mickey Rooney movies, this week we watched the original King Kong. My kids are 11 and 14. Any suggestions? I'm so ready for summer. :D

Pod's mum
You need a dose of good ole Westerns too. We love some spaghetti westerns: Terence Hill in My Name is Nobody + They call me Trinity. Droll, grimy and funny. Add The Magnificent Seven and True Grit, the original ("Not bad for a one eyed fat man.") The remake is well done too. We have watched several of the films in Movies as Literature and I enjoy their selection too.

Tita Gidge
Wow, Wild Strawberries! I wonder if we are the only two people on the forum who like Wild Strawberies? Recently my son (still 8) and I watched The Seventh Seal together. He liked it. But Ingmar Bergman is not to everyone's taste. HuluPlus has the whole Criterion Collection (including Wild Strawberries, Breathless, Seven Samauri......) Bill We may be a small club, but those with the most refined of taste usually are ;) Seven Samuari ... another good one ... and the inspiration behind the name of our rescue tortoise, Ronin. It's been years since I watched The Seventh Seal and I'm jealous that your son liked it. My youngest is 7 and she isn't a Bergman fan. I put on films at bedtime, and anyone who wants to stay up may do so, but only if they watch with me ... she usually stays up because anything is better than going to bed. Anything except Bergman, that is. I love that she's so adamant that she'd rather go to bed than sit through something she hates, but .... to hate Bergman? She may as well change her religion!
