  1. 3 loads of laundry are done with more in the works. Went to town and got a huge, overflowing cart of groceries. Got a big pile of new chore gloves and ordered a new pair of chore boots because mine have a hole. Found out that the Amex bill had to be paid by yesterday in order to get discount. Oops. Our hickory flooring sample showed up. I like it much more than the oak we currently have. Time to clean the kitchen, get some hay steaming, and make dinner.
  2. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: I hope you get good news from the MRI.
  3. That would be no big deal and it wouldn't occur to me to complain to a manager. I probably wouldn't even correct the employee. I'm okay with getting extra food because I have two teenaged boys, aka bottomless pits, and it will always get eaten. Also, saying "a third pound" sounds strange. I could see where that would add to the employee's confusion.
  4. He must be hearing something that you can't hear. I'd probably be curious enough to follow him and see what it is.
  5. :grouphug: , Scout and Pink and Green. It's been nothing but drama here this morning with dd15. Apparently, she is the only child in the history of mankind who has to take three tests in one week. :svengo: Such cruel and unusual punishment!
  6. Thank you! :) He is feeling great, thank goodness - he hasn't even had any of the typical side effects from the shots. To make a long story short, last Friday morning he was climbing into a machine at work and either a bat or a bird flew out and hit him in the neck. It was dark so he wasn't able to see what it was. We checked with an infectious disease specialist, who advised that ds should get rabies shots since he may have had physical contact with a bat. Their teeth are so tiny that you can get bitten without even knowing it. It is probably much ado about nothing and we don't even know for sure that it was a bat, but we're erring on the side of caution. He got five shots on Friday, one shot today, and he has to go back two more times.
  7. My oldest ds scored a 32 and my younger ds scored a 34, both on their first try. Innate ability played a big part - they have always done well on standardized tests and are quick readers and thinkers. However, I do think that test prep was very helpful. They spent a couple months working their way through test prep books and taking practice exams.
  8. Good morning! It's a beautiful morning here, sunny and cold. It was so nice to have the sun rising as we did chores, instead of having to stumble around in the dark. •dh is taking ds19 to the ER for round 2 of rabies shots and will then drop him off at work •school •make shopping list •pay Amex bill so we get the early pay discount •go grocery shopping •stop at post office •laundry •order grain for dd's pony •attempt to track down our flooring sample (we ordered a box of hickory planks from Tennessee that were supposedly shipped out over two weeks ago, but haven't arrived yet :glare: ) •do thrush treatment on horse's feet •dinner: sweet potato taco bowls
  9. Today was super productive for all of us. I got lots done around the house and barn, dh painted more rooms (it looks so nice), and the kids were busy all day. That extra hour really comes in handy! My dinner plans have changed to roasted spaghetti squash, polenta, and broccoli with vodka sauce.
  10. I don't use non-stick pans and I don't like spraying because it makes a mess, so I use parchment paper. I like this kind that is already cut to fit cookie sheets: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FW49GSQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  11. It doesn't bother me and I have never understood why it is considered rude. I wouldn't do it, but only because I hate wearing hats. If someone else wants to, I have zero problems with it.
  12. Good morning! •change clocks •so much laundry •tidy up pantry •plan my week, including menu planning •order several things •go through house and restock kleenex, paper towels, etc. •clean upstairs bathrooms •make a bowl of salad for fridge •clean hay steamer and descale boilers •scrub horse's feet and treat for thrush •dinner: mediterranean bowls with falafel •watch hockey tonight
  13. I am so sorry you are going through this. I hope things get better very soon! :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
  14. Regional differences like this are so interesting. I'm in the midwest and the last time I saw anyone wearing a monogram was back in the early to mid-80s, during the Preppy Handbook era!
  15. Oh yikes. I feel itchy just reading that!
  16. We just stopped at Coldstone and I had ice cream for the first time in months. Oh ice cream, how I've missed you... The girl there was being all flirty with ds19 and gave him a huge, overflowing bowl of ice cream. It was like twice as much as she gave the rest of us...so funny!
  17. Good morning! •drive 1.5 hours to city •winter clothes shopping at Cabela's •Bath & Body Works (annual fall pilgrimage for dd & me :) ) •food shopping at World Market •spend an hour or two at Barnes & Noble •lunch at Chili's •drive home •mad scramble to get caught up on today's chores •watch hockey tonight
  18. Most of my list did not get done. I got my daily routine done and some cleaning, but that's it. Ds19 got 5 shots today and has to go back for round 2 on Monday. Dh was irked at the attitude of the doctor, who was arrogant and didn't seem to even know much about rabies. Thank goodness dh insisted on getting the opinion of an infectious disease specialist, who told the first doctor that he was flat-out wrong. :glare: We're watching a Hallmark Christmas movie tonight. I need something mindless and fun after this stressful day!
  19. Dh just called. Our family doctor was not there today. The doctor that saw ds said no shots are necessary. He called down to the ER and the doctor there agreed with him. Dh asked the doctor to consult with an infectious disease specialist. Lo and behold, the specialist said shots are absolutely needed in this situation - so dh and ds are at the ER waiting for the first shot.
  20. Well, today has not gone according to plan. At work this morning, ds19 was climbing into a skid loader when something, a bird or a bat, flew out of the cab and hit him in the neck. It was still dark out so he wasn't able to see what it was. He called me and was worried that it might have been a bat that has rabies. I kind of pooh-poohed that idea until I did some googling and read about people in similar situations who got bitten without even knowing it. The recommendation is that if you are even touched by a bat, you should go to the doctor. So dh has him at the doctor's office right now to see if he needs shots. :001_huh:
  21. I know a few people like this and that character trait seems to make their lives pretty miserable. It's like instead of having their own beliefs or interests, they put all their energy into being contrary and rebellious. I can see how you would want to nip that in the bud with your child.
  22. :grouphug: I would be very upset, too. What in the world was that doctor thinking leaving a message like that? I hope all is well with your ds.
  23. Our dogs all get a dollop of canned food on top of their dry food. I keep 5-6 different kinds of canned on hand so I can switch it up for them. Even my picky eaters are excited at meal time.
  24. Good morning! •school •tidy up house •2 loads laundry •order Kind bars •place Chewy order •when ds19 gets off work, go get flu shots (I have been trying to make this happen for a week and it is getting done today, no matter how busy everyone is.) •stop at vet's and pick up medicine •go to bank and post office •get a few groceries to tide us over through the weekend •dinner: Japanese takeout
  25. two more loads of hay were delivered - our sheds are so full that we can barely close the doors :) kitchen is clean laundry is done for the day :hurray:
