  1. We got our first snowflakes of the season today. Tonight, there will be a hard freeze so I need to remember to detach hoses from spigots after evening chores. Need to stock up on birdseed when I'm in town today - and put extra bedding in the horses' stalls tonight. It is early for a hard freeze and my horses' winter coats haven't grown in fully yet.
  2. My dh is the same. We're just starting a big remodeling project and I've picked out everything. If a salesperson asks his opinion, he says, "Whatever makes my wife happy!"
  3. It's Japanese takeout tonight.
  4. I've read several articles in which doctors recommend getting rid of hand towels and using paper towels instead. Apparently, if you look at hand towels under a microscope, they are literally teeming with germs. :ack2: I threw all our hand towels away after reading that.
  5. For what it's worth, I'm 48 and have a tongue tie and it has never caused me any problems. I didn't even know I had it until a doctor noticed it and told me when I was 18 or 19 years old. It has had no effect on my life and I've always been able to speak and articulate clearly.
  6. Good morning! •school •finish up the last little bit of office work for the week •contact Amazon about replacement of an item that arrived totally destroyed in a squashed box :glare: •order curry paste •order hay •go through our winter coats, boots, hats, gloves, etc. and see who needs what •run to town with the kids after ds19 gets off work this afternoon •errands: bank, gas, walmart •bookstore •pick up Japanese takeout for dinner •figure out how to watch both Stranger Things and hockey in one night
  7. Do you use sesame oil? I always use that in stir fry because it adds delicious flavor.
  8. Sesame eggplant and almond butter tofu bowls
  9. We have three, which is just what we wanted. We had originally thought about having four, but decided that three was the perfect number as far as having enough time, money, and energy for each child. I had my youngest when I was 33 (I'm 48 now). Today I saw someone I know who just had a surprise baby in her 40's (her other kids are late teens/young adults). All I could think was oh man, am I ever glad that's not me. The thought of having a little one at this point in my life is just exhausting!
  10. This happened to me, too. It took me a long time to get my act together because every time I started to get healthy, lots of uncomfortable truths would start bubbling up and it would make me so anxious. It was like once my mind was no longer distracted by disorganization and clutter and junk food, the truth wouldn't stay stuffed down anymore.
  11. Good morning! It's a beautiful, cool fall morning here. The sun is just rising and the sky is all pink and blue. •school •maybe turn horses out in lower pasture (must check how muddy it is) •stop at vet's to pick up prescription food •post office •bank •get gas? •get groceries •mop floors (I'll be glad when it freezes so there's no more mud) •replace light bulb in kitchen •start making a list for Christmas shopping •ds17 golf lesson •dinner: sesame eggplant and almond butter tofu bowls
  12. I got a lot done today, which was a nice change. The last several days, I was feeling like a slug...or maybe a sloth. Just finished up my menu plan for the next week and a shopping list for the grocery store tomorrow. Now I'm going to watch some baseball with dh and hopefully get some reading in before I fall asleep.
  13. How scary for you and your ds! So was the person with the crossbow threatening others with it, or was he/she just carrying it?
  14. Mustard roasted salmon, sweet potato fries and roasted asparagus
  15. I would love to be able to do that. Unfortunately, we live out in the middle of nowhere and none of the stores here offer it, not even Walmart.
  16. Oh my. I'd be pouring concrete down the drain.
  17. Good morning! •school •menu plan (been putting this off for days) •office work (really been letting this slide and it needs to get done) •water plants •get bank deposits ready •research new countertops •kids Model UN meeting •dd violin lesson •dinner: the salmon I didn't make last night
  18. Yes, this. Janeway, putting it out to bid does not mean it was auctioned off. It means that the school district requested bids, or proposals, from contractors and then awarded the contract to the one that they felt would do the best job for the least amount of money.
  19. All done for the day, whew! It was windy and wild and cold during chores tonight. I decided to make homemade veggie pizza for dinner instead of salmon. I'm waiting for my hockey game to start, but I'll probably miss most of it. It doesn't start until 9:00 and I'm usually conked out fast asleep by about 9:05.
  20. I agree that you should just thank her and throw them away. I wouldn't breathe a word about not having eaten them because that will make her feel awkward. She sounds like a good neighbor and those are hard to find, so I wouldn't do anything to make the relationship uncomfortable.
  21. Does your dh have any friends or coworkers that know you and could be listed as references?
  22. I'm thankful that mine are all old enough now to deal with clogged toilets on their own. :)
  23. Good morning! It is chilly (40*) and pouring rain, so horse chores were not much fun this morning. Snow is in the forecast for this weekend - yay! I'll take snow over cold rain any day. •school •office work (paperwork for company retirement plan, financial stuff) •dust & vacuum whatever needs it •a couple loads laundry •go through magazine pile on dining room table •order more horse bedding and maybe grain (need to check how much I have on hand) •dinner: mustard roasted salmon with sweet potato fries and roasted asparagus •watch hockey tonight
