  1. A head CT is very fast...like seconds long. Even if she needs contrast, the IV would take longer to start than the actual CT. Unless you're talking about a decades-only machine, which I don't think are in use any more. MRIs take longer, maybe 20 minutes?
  2. We used to love the tie bar...everything was $15. Then they sold the company and all the prices went up.
  3. So what am I missing? Should I make fried? Or poached? Or over-easy? Or just call it good? :D
  4. Warm roasted veggie sandwiches with cheese. Get a nice crusty loaf of bread. Slice it open lengthwise and fill with roasted peppers, onions artichokes, tomatoes, etc. Add cheese...mozzarella or provolone. Wrap up in tinfoil and bake until warm and cheese is melted. Remove from oven, keep in tinfoil and wrap a clean dish towel around the outside. Transfer in a soft-sided cooler. Soooooo gooood. We do these with turkey for tailgates/team meals.
  5. Gah, Aimee. That truly stinks. I'm sorry your DD and you and your family are going through this. :grouphug:
  6. There was a similar thread recently. http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/565231-writer-momsdoes-one-need-an-mfa/
  7. LOL. At my boys' school there is a priest who'll get the boys lunch if they forget it or don't have the money. He probably makes it hard for them to "learn a lesson" but they all love him for it.

It is warm and very pretty to look at.
  9. I think the comments about man colds and men not being able to handle childbirth are reflective of the men the commenters know. The men in my life are the tough it out, tape-an-aspirin-to-it men who don't like to be babied, especially not over a cold. Edited to add: the women in my life are that way, too. :D
  10. AFAIK, Mercy said a comment is sexist. Not a [female person] she.
  11. My understanding is that it is a "mechanical" type issue. If your dura was punctured, you're leaking spinal fluid so the pain is from pressure changes around the brain. It might not completely go away lying down but it would feel worse sitting or standing. I would definitely call your doc on Monday. My other worry would be a blood pressure issue.
  12. I am sorry you're suffering. It could be possibly be a headache from the epidural...if the dura was punctured and it never healed. The headache is worse sitting and standing and better lying down, so the fact that it starts every morning makes me think it is possible. The other thing I'm wondering is chronic dehydration that is giving you a headache.
  13. Oh my gosh, me too! That play is going to be all over SportsCenter, etc for a long time. Poor guy. The snap looked a bit low, I thought.
  14. The punter fumbled the snap and it got picked up and returned for a touchdown. The announcer had just said something like, *all they have to do is get this punt off succesfully*... Mr. unsinkable and I looked at each other and said, "THAT'S the kiss of death." And we were right.
  15. So how did you get your concussion? And why did it take your friends 2 hours and several long periods of you not breathing before they called for help? They probably would have never recovered if you hadn't made it.
  16. IMO/gut instinct...the young man lost something very important to him (sports) and he doesn't want to lose anything else, like classes/credits/academic progress. I think any plan that he would accept would have to make sure he doesn't lose ground or perceive himself as losing ground. Some of the responses are pretty harsh and make me wonder what their idea of purpose of education is.
  17. It was for the Very Hungry Caterpillar. "The plot was repetitive and the main character was flat and his motivation was one dimensional. The MC's transformation was predictable." Mr. Carle took issue.
  18. But did she get a muffin? :leaving:
  19. This thread is raising my blood pressure. BP that high causes damage. Period. It increases the risk of heart attack and stroke. It sounds like your hospital choices are limited...time means tissue. So if it is a heart attack, the longer the trip to the ER to get care, the more damage is done. I'd get my ducks in a row about which ER, as a general life plan.
  20. (I saw you on the birthday list and saw that you were on yesterday...I hope you see this!) I hope you have a wonderful day!
