  1. There is a blog about a woman who became her professor's nanny after his wife died. She ended up marrying the professor. I can't remember if she graduated or not. /end tangent
  2. :Iagree: Yes, thank you, and God bless you, Chris Mintz. And the same to all the others whose names we don't know who helped yesterday. I am so thankful for the people who react so selflessly in a crisis.
  3. It looks like Cabelas and REI are 2 retailers.
  4. Can you find a local retailer who sells them and ask for help? Talk to a manager and tell her the situation and see if they use the same security device?
  5. :crying: I don't know what else to say besides it's heartbreaking.
  6. The couple doesn't call the shots in a vacuum. Each person is influenced by her family's traditions.
  7. I think couples are wise to consider the culture of weddings in the families. If kids have always been included and then a wedding excludes kids...people are going to be confused and disappointed. IME, If someone is from a family where "kids included wedding" is the norm and is marrying into an "adults only wedding" family they're really going to have to think long and hard which way to go.
  8. I was just telling DD the other day about a this situation that happened to a group I belonged to: We had 21 people for a celebration, sit-down dinner. My girlfriend chose the restaurant, based on the fact the owner's DD was her dance student. She just wanted to give the business to the owner; she didn't get a special price or anything. It was something like $35 or $40 per person, that included everything, tax, tip, etc. We all paid my friend ahead of time. When we got there, there was an extra place setting but we didn't think anything of it. We got soup and salad and the server didnt put anything at the empty spot. But when the entrees came out, they had an extra and put it at the empty spot. My friend said no one was there, that we only had 21. The waitress said something like, oh then someone else can have it. No one else wanted it so it sat there. The bill came for 22 people and my friend disputed it, saying we only had 21. The waitress sent the owner out, and he wouldn't take it off the bill. My friend was emphasized there is only 21 people in our group, that she NEVER would have made the arrangements for 22 people and he just didn't care. We were all digging in our purses for money (most didn't have any or only had a few dollars bc we figured it was already paid for). That restaurant lost 21 customers that day. And my friend told the waitress to wrap the extra plate of food up, and include a soup, salad, bread, and dessert!
  9. Hey Mark...just curious: Is your avatar pic a shutout to Fury Road? It is one of our fav movies here.
  10. I'm so sorry. I don't have advice but tons of sympathy. I hope ou get some answers. :grouphug:
  11. You win all the LOLs. Oh, my. I scared the dog laughing and he's still miffed at what he thinks were my bad throws.
  12. When I used to cook at a restaurant, there was a couple who would only come in on the nights I worked bc the girl loved my salads bc they were so pretty. I didn't just toss the stuff on top, I arranged it.
  13. The dog was particularly clumsy tonight. He missed every piece of chicken I tossed him. One piece somehow bounced under the stove so he had to lay down sideways n the floor and scrape it out with his paw.
  14. That does sound nice. Since we all composed our own salads, I'm complaining about my own salad.
  15. :grouphug: I get the picky eaters. We had years of pink pasta and naked meatballs because sauce made my kids: :willy_nilly: (This was a salad bar at home situation...I'm mostly first world complaining about my own salad.)
  16. ME! That's who! Because it always happens Does this happen to others? I made a beautiful spinach salad. Teriyaki chicken, spinach, cukes, apples, purple onions, candied walnuts. I put some dressing on, toss it to distribute the dressing and: ALL THE YUMMY STUFF GOES TO THE BOTTOM. I know, I know, it is all heavier than the spinach. But I hate that! It looks so pretty before I toss it.
  17. Thank God for you. That is one of the biggest reasons kids leave college...poorly wrapped Rice Krispie treats.
  18. I'd wrap them in waxed paper first if you are worried about sticking.
  19. Oh, that is tough. I'm sorry. (((Hugs))) I hope the rest of the day is better. Happy Birthday!
  20. The eclipse hasn't started but the moon is so bright that our shadows are super sharp. It's amazing.
  21. I hope today was/is wonderful! Happy Birthday!
  22. Better check the dates of the scholarship. That was last year's question. https://www.wcupa.edu/_services/fin_aid/documents/CottageInn.pdf Here is this year's application with a different question. http://www.cottageinn.com/cottage-inn-scholarship/
