  1. Our gas furnace is a Goodman. We've been pleased with it.
  2. That sounds so exciting! I hope everything works out well for you all.
  3. I have read a couple of her books and thought the were worthwhile reads. I haven't ever participated in any of her group studies, but have seen and heard her on TV and radio and really don't like her speaking style. She a little too loud and dramatic for me to take in.
  4. When I registered with the state ten years ago it took around one week (give or take a day or two) to receive my card from the state. She MUST keep that card in a safe place, she will need it from now on for various reasons (driver's ed, some colleges have asked for a copy etc).
  5. I submitted transcripts for dd using only grades 9-12. I added that she had taken Alg.1 in 8th grade and the grade she made. No problems or any questions asked by any of the schools that she has applied to.
  6. My dd has been awarded merit scholarships of full tuition to a couple of private colleges. I have filed our FAFSA and our EFC is more than room and board at these schools. In reality we can not afford the room and board. Is there any possibility of her getting more aid from these schools?
  7. True manic depressives must have carefully regulated medication. It's all about Lithium levels being regulated. This involves seeing a MD regularly to check lithium levels in the blood. For some reason (maybe the m/d itself) many m/d refuse meds or think after being on the meds awhile that they can now stop treatment. It just doesn't work that way.
  8. Because they are so reliable. We have two Accords and have and have had very good service from them. We bought our CRV and our 1996 Accord from our credit union. Both of them were used cars.
  9. We didn't use Cobra once dh old employer quit paying the insurance. Part of the spendulus package is supposed to help you all with cobra. I'm not sure who you should ask about that though. Maybe your dh's old employer. If it still is too high check into state coverage for your children. We could not afford the cobra plan and bought a plan through Golden Rule for our family. I didn't know about our state's insurance plan for children until right before dh found another job. I shopped for insurance online. I still have the name and number of the young man that walked me through buying insurance for our family. If you would like that information send me a PM.
  10. First, I am so sorry that you and Denise are going through this. My dh was laid off and out of work for over six months in 2007. It was very stressful. For me, really leaning on God and the prayers of friends and family, got me through. It was without a doubt the hardest thing I have ever gone through. I made my grocery list from the sales flyers. If it wasn't on sale, I mean really on sale, not 10 or 20 cents, but more like buy one get one free, I didn't buy it. I bought a lot of store brand stuff if it was something we really needed. Over time I got a pretty well stocked pantry. Grocery sales usually go in three month cycles. Try to buy enough of the sale items to last three months when they are likely to go on sale again. I only shopped once a week. Dh also started praying together every day. That is something good that came out of the layoff and we have continued to pray together most mornings before he leaves for work. I will pray for both of you and your families. :grouphug:
  11. We have a 2001 CR-V (bought used from our credit union) that we are very pleased with. That said we only drive/buy Hondas. The only thing I don't like about the CR-V is the gas mileage isn't as good as the Accords.
  12. We all had it last week. Dh had the flu shot but still got the flu. It's wicked stuff. Drink lots of fluids, wash your hands and read the thread about Grandma's warming kettle. It could help. The silver lining for me is I lost four pounds last week due to lack of appetite.
