  1. :grouphug: I totally understand where you are comming from! My husband's been deployed too. It seems everything happens when the they are deployed.
  2. I saw that too and I am starting next month with FLL with my second child. I have decided that since the older version worked well with my oldest then it will do just as well with my second child and third. From what I could see online it's still the same material but it's seperated instead of together. I thinks it's recommned to add the new writing program, writing with ease along with FLL but I have decided that wasn't needed for my children. The orginal FLL 1 &2 book will serve my family just fine.
  3. When we are done with this tour I will be doing just what you asked except I will be tossing my children along with a cat and dog into a pick up truck pulling a 25ft travel trailor. Our first stop will be to IN to pick up the truck and RV and begin our trip to MN to visit family that live near the headwaters of the Mississippi, then head down to MO to visit more family, start traveling west to see the Grand Canyon, turn around towards TX and FL to visit friends (military) and then finally to our new duty station where ever that may be. I am already saving my change for when this wonderful event will take place.
  4. Maybe just stop swimming in their pool. My daughter has tankini and I bought two of the same in different sizes. It's frusterating but it's the only way to get a suit to fit her properly. One peices go up her butt after what seems a month of buying it (she's growing like a weed recently), one size tankini is small on bottem but right on top and vise versa with the other size. I would limit time spent maybe more of a public meeting place if the friendship is wanted to be continued. Make a plan to visit a museaum or something. Back to clothes. I don't send anyone home due to their close but my children know or are learning that we don't dress like that. We we live conservitive is out the window and shopping is extreamly limited. I do send home due to behavior and tell either walk them home or call the parent.
  5. I am planning on doing this with my children at our school. I talked to the principle and was told when we register we can use the library, host nations class, art and music. I look forward to it this year.
  6. I ordered the 1/2 books too just in case extra help was needed. We are just finishing up with 1 and I think Ican just move onto 2. I am going to use the 1/2 books to keep one child busy while I work with the other. Nothing wrong with extra review and my younger ones enjoy the ETC.
  7. I just wanted to say that it's great that he went back on the course. I almost drowned on the 8th DC trip, never told the adults in charge or my parents. It has taken me 20years to finally enjoy the water with a group of people
  8. I have the bedroom to my self 80% of our marrage due to him being in the service. No way would I volunteerly have us in different rooms. Besides that would mean we would need a six-seven bedroom house so everyone could have their own rooms.
  9. I am on day 3 of trying to figure it out. Then again I don't have time to sit and read with the kids all around me. I can get on only bits at a time and learn better by someone showing me that reading and doing.
  10. please tell me I am not the only one who has done this. The school year hasn't started and I have already bought a few items that I now regret buying and they were an impluse bought items online. I bought a few ebooks and HST Plus.
  11. thanks for the replies. I am going to stick with just FLL 1/2 for now since I do have A Becka reading and Draw Write Now books. Between all that he should do just fine and he's joining big sis with MFWs
  12. I use flash cards and time sheets. My oldest enjoys this and I plan to start with my second child with them. For multiplication there is Timzed Attack. Not sure of correct name but close and you can use the free verson for the facts. Take dominoes and use them for different operations and dice too. There are wraps or print out some coloring sheets where you do the operations and color the answer a certain color. When playing with cars or other small toys I talk about facts and will bring out the dry erase board. HTHs
  13. okay so I just skimmed thru the posts and yes it's about no public display of affection but no one is going to come running if the service member is hugging on his children or has his wife's arm in his. It's more like the making out and being totally inaproperate and it happens mostly among the younger military personal. I have many a times have had my arm in my husbands and he has held his children. He has given me pecks on the cheeks as well. Yes there are some moments when a peck or arm holding isn't allowed but for the most part it is. Since he's just joined they may have stricter policies. I have been with involved with the military for over ten years and I have never seen or heard of anyone getting writting up for improper public displays of affection.
  14. First off :grouphug:'s. You may just have to get out of your comfort zone and just keep trying everyday to get out there. We have been living in our new home for about 10 weeks now and still is hard for me. We are still 'friendless'. We know many people but it sure would be nice to have that one family or two that you can always get together with and share with ya know. In time it will happend.
  15. oos misread the post. The only time I have delt with a credit card company was with my mother in law when she passed away. They wanted their money but she was passed and didn't have a dime not even to give to her children. We sold the house but it took care of the other stuff like taxes that she never paid or the house payment. They finally just stopped calling after we sent them copies of the death certificate.
  16. After our Apologia Botany I will be using Real Science 4 Kids Chemistry the pre level and level 1. My game plan is to use it twice a week like with the Apologia. Day 1 is reading/narriation of lessons and Day 2 is the experiments/projects. If I am able to find library books related to the subject yippie skippie but it's slim pickins here and we just been going thru our books without adding much outside books. I am also using MFW's but we like science so Real Science 4 Kids is our extra science.
  17. I am teaching my oldest Latin (Prima Latina) but the younger two will tag along otherwise they will get into trouble. We are using Apologia Science and it has latin words and that perked her interest in to learing more about Latin. I never took Latin in school so it's a learing experience for me too. We are also learning, very slowly, Japaneese. I do not have a curriculum for that but a $30 progam that speaks the basics and the book, First Thousand Words In Japanese. We attend a church with quite a few Japanese and we are learning a bit of conversational Japaneese there.
  18. I just finished up for the year except for the basics like folders and pencils and similar stuff. I spent close to $3000 for three children and this included priority shipping since things take forever to ship here or I have it shiped to the states and have a family member ship priority mail here. I went with a totally different curriculume for 1st with my son than for my oldest. I am hoping next year it will be a little cheaper but I will still budget for $3000.
  19. I looked at a friends WWE2 and I am going to assume that 1 is very similar to 2. Who has used it and what did you think about it? It looked like copywork, little dication and a little narriation. From what I have seen I can do that with the curriclum I have for my younger two. According to FLL1 its all the writing you need for that age and I also have A Bekas reading. I could pull copywork/dication/narriation from what I have right?
  20. I cannot sell what has been given to me even if the person says it's okay. I just don't persoanally feel right. I just pass it on to another family and hope that when they are done with it or not going to use it that they just pass it on.
