Where's the best place to buy Teaching Textbooks?
LaMere Academy replied to Pink Fairy's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
As far as I know TT cannot be discounted by any retailer, so I don't think it matters where you buy it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong... -
"Fall Into Reading"...Anyone Doing This?
LaMere Academy replied to Saille's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I usually do her reading challenges, but hadn't been thinking about it with school starting. Thanks for posting, I'm going to join...gathering my book list now... :001_smile: -
I'm trying to use less meat to try to save money. My menu is on my blog http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/LaMereAcademy

1500 sq. foot house ...
LaMere Academy replied to Haiku's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Ours is about 1,900 sq. feet. Need another bedroom, if not 2. I'd love for everyone to have their own room! -
Yes, I try to, but only when I see a post by them that I like. You get a certain amount of rep each 24 hours and I like to give it away and not let it go to waste. I think the more a person participates on these boards in a kind, intelligent manner, then they deserve rep to show they've been here and been a positive member of the community here. Did that make sense? I have a killer headache and feel that I rambled.

He joined the Navy
LaMere Academy replied to swellmomma's topic in General Education Discussion Board
My 14 year old son joined Civil Air Patrol in the spring and he's enjoying it. He's already been able to fly a plane (take controls after the pilot got them up to a certain altitude) It's so like the military and it's hard for me to hear him yell back at his 1st Sargent to answer or do the motivation chants and such...but that's what he wants. His goal is to go to the Air Force Academy after high school. I had no clue they had a Navy League, I think it sounds great. -
we used to go camping as teenagers and my now husband, (then not) used to smoke a brisket for 24 hours, then wrap it in tin foil, then throw it in the back of his pickup, we'd drive to Lake Texoma, then later that night throw it on the campfire and we'd all eat it...and the next day too after it sat in the ashes (wrapped in tin foil of course) all night long. I'd say it's fine. It's cooked meat.

S/O Are you done having dc?
LaMere Academy replied to Murphy101's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I can't vote because adoption would never be an option. As I understand the question, if I thought I was done having children in my marriage but another came along unexpectedly? I'd certainly have my child! -
Movie quotes you use
LaMere Academy replied to caitlinsmom's topic in General Education Discussion Board
"Brothers don't shake hands, brothers gotta hug!" Tommy Boy "Mommy, the rhino's getting too close to the car!" "Oh,he's scared, he's just a little guy!" Tommy Boy "But why is all the rum gone?" from POC "Get your own tots" ND "Do you not realize I have had diarrhea since Easters?" Nacho Libre "Do you remember when everyone was shouting my name, and I used my strength to rip my blouse?" Nacho Libre "Be excellent to each other" Bill and Ted "Taters?!!? What's Taters??" LOTR...you must then say "PO TA TOES, fry 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew" Also we quote from Seinfeld regularly...not a movie though. My 8 year old says "George is getting angry!" all the time now and my 14 year old loves "These pretzels are making me thristy!" I also know a "low talker" :) and describe her as such. I love "Good luck with all that" -
No but my dd, almost 13 sweats alot too! She's very clean and wears deoderant but if she's hot at all, she has wet stains on her t-shirts and she gets embarassed too. I should buy the clinical and see if it helps her. I don't remember ever dealing with that as a teen. No advice, but dealing with it here too.

No I totally agree about rape and incest myself. I know good can come from that, but personally if I was raped I don't think I could carry that child and I don't think anyone else should HAVE to. Now, if you're just being foolish and your become pregnant I think it's wrong to have an abortion. But yes, I agree with his exceptions and always have thought that way. *ETA my dh just reminded me that mother's health would be another legitimate reason in our opinion. Of course most mom's I know would risk their health for their babies.

Agree and if I thought we could do it and not get a total nut job at my house in return AND made to look like nut jobs ourselves, then I would love to do it for the money. :tongue_smilie: It's too bad they can't get let it be reality and let the families learn from each other like it's supposed to be. However, I will admit to watching. :)

Spouse work hard so you can homeschool?
LaMere Academy replied to Blessedfamily's topic in General Education Discussion Board
My husband works 2 jobs so I can homeschool the kids. He has always done this when needed. He did have about 5 years where he didn't have to, but for the past 3 he has had two jobs again. It's rough and I hate it but we can't survive unless he does. I do appreciate it very much. -
I only saw the clips as well and was very disappointed in Walters. Besides the Rep. on the show (forgot her name) I expected the others to not be respectful, but I did expect she would be neutral at least. Really, it just seems to me that Obama is getting the star treatment in Hollywood and I'm so wondering WHY??

My thoughts exactly. If you're not interested then I'd give him a card with a gift card to a general place like Target or Walmart.
