  1. My quiche is just so-so, so I want to try a different recipe. What is the best quiche recipe out there?
  2. Does anyone have/use this particular crock-pot: The Crock-Pot® Programmable Countdown Slow Cooker? (the one I just bought is model # SCVC609C-SS) I got it for a good price at Costco and it came with a free Little Dipper pot. The reviews on this model at Amazon are not very good and I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with it and could give me some feedback before I commit to keeping it. Or if you have a recommendation for a better slowcooker to get, please post. Thanks, Brenda
  3. I have a family of 7 (4 teenagers). Do I need a 6 or 7 quart? Do you prefer round or oval? Is it worth paying more for the enameled, or is plain cast iron better? Is any brand just as good as any other? Where's the cheapest place to get one? Thanks for your input. mom2jrcsc
  4. I find it terribly bland and boring. Tell me some good (and easy) ways to fix it.
  5. What makes a better pot roast, oven roasting or crock potting? The crock pot is certainly easier.
  6. But need something bigger to hold more yummy veggies. I used a bottom round roast which is a pretty tough cut of meat. I salt and peppered it. Browned it in the iron skillet on both sides in oil. Added 1/2 cup of red wine, covered, and put in a 300 degree oven. After cooking 1 hour, added potatoes, carrots, and onions. Cooked another 2-2.5 hours until tender. It came out fork tender and so good. None left.
  7. Anyone have a basic shortbread recipe that tastes like Walkers shortbread? There's so many different recipe versions out on the web, I don't know which to choose.
  8. and roasts them himself using a hot air popcorn popper. You can't get better flavor than that - it's to die for. And it's pretty cheap. Even after paying shipping, it comes out to only $6-7/lb. He's got me hooked - I never even liked coffee until a few months ago.
