  1. Are you saying YOUR dh did this? Or *someone’s* dh, just not yours? I’m confused, but whatever the case is, I definitely wouldn’t like my husband texting “My little Mojo” with heart face to another woman. Or my little anything to another woman. Or a heart face to another woman.
  2. No sexual connotation to me either. Like @chocolate-chip chooky I think energy or spark. So positive, but not sexual.
  3. @ArcadiaOh my! That plant on the left above with the orangey-pinkish blooms is stunning! Beautiful color.
  4. Oh that’s a bummer. I didn’t notice that it was different products! Personally, I’d much prefer wash and scrub over mist and oil! ( I don’t need either of these this year, though, bc I’ve already bought a boat load of Tree Hut Candy Cane stuff!)
  5. Surely not! My store has them along with their other holiday-type sets, like beauty advent calendars, candle advent calendars, gummie lips sets, candle trio sets, etc. So it seems like they just got this stuff last week probably. (And mine still had some today also)
  6. @Grace Hopper I’m not sure if you’re still interested, but I noticed when I was in the store this week, that TJ’s has the 3-piece set that @Corraleno posted above. I think it was $12.99. (The purple set that’s a Brazilian bum dupe).
  7. @iamonlyone I agree with PPs—I think it needs a bigger pot. Not huge (that might shock it), just the next size or two up bigger. I’d use cactus soil and put it in front of a window that doesn’t get direct sunlight. I’ll bet it blooms then, because it does look healthy.
  8. If these are meetings you must attend, then yeah, pick up something from your local grocery store for the potluck and lose the guilt. 3 days of your week for one organization is a lot, any time of year, but especially this week! The last thing you need to do or feel guilty about is not devoting a few MORE hours of your week to cooking. When the guilt tries to creep in (since it’s ugly like that), start telling yourself all the things you’ve done for this organization and remind yourself of the selfless hours you’ve already donated.
  9. That’s so pretty @Ginevra! I’m so glad you rescued it. And that will be a sweet memory for years to come. I saw a Thanksgiving cactus at Trader Joe’s about a week and a half ago and *almost* bought it bc I had been wanting one, then decided no, I don’t need it. Well, I regretted it and went back the other day and of course they were all gone! So now I’m going to have to seek out a Christmas cactus bc I’ve convinced myself I absolutely must have one or the other now lol.
  10. I have the stuff Le Creuset sells, but really I think baking soda works better. Heavily sprinkle all over the bottom, add just a *bit* of water to make it ever-so-lightly damp, and then rub the heck out of with your bare hands. I just keep rolling and rolling the baking soda with my fingers and the brown stuff comes off. You could use a dry sponge instead of your fingers.🤷🏻‍♀️
  11. Ok, here’s one that I got off this board and have been eating them ever since. Easy Fish Tacos. Cook frozen fish sticks. Put them on tortillas. Top with shredded cabbage. And here’s the magic—the sauce! Mix sriracha with Mayo and a bit of fresh lime juice. (You adjust the ratio to the heat you like). Drizzle over the cabbage and squeeze some lime juice on top. SO easy and very tasty!
  12. I would move the sectional to where the back is parallel to the coat rack by the door (so facing the wall with the door to the kitchen), then put the tv on the wall to the left of where it is now. That would make the picture window be more of the focus of the room, and you’d have the full view available. I think with that arrangement, you’d likely not feel like the space needed something. It would feel sort of like the room was “closed in” a bit with the window as the focal point. eta: if my dh was like “no way am I re-mounting that tv somewhere else” lol, then I’d probably just leave that space open with the nice view if I didn’t need more seating.
  13. Yeah, that’s weird and rude, imho. They’re probably just worried that people will choose your “fill in the blank” dish over theirs if there are two of the same dish. Classic rivalry and jealousy would be my guess. I’d take my assigned dish and whatever else I wanted and wouldn’t think twice about if they care. 🤷🏻‍♀️
  14. Have you tried her beef enchiladas? They are amazing! I haven’t tried her tacos, but I need to.
  15. Well, since that was me and my thread a couple of years ago, I’ll chime in. I LOVE Costco! But, I have two different ones within 15-20 minutes of me, so it’s really convenient. I was in both this week. 😏 I think this would be a fun time for you to check it out because they have such pretty stuff this time of year—all the holiday gifts, sales on things like housewares, blankets, etc. I do have things I buy regularly there every week or two, but this time of year is nice to browse all that other stuff. But please, do not go on a Saturday for your first time!!! It will likely be busy any day, but shoot for opening on a weekday if you go. And report back! Just for kicks, my out-of-the-norm purchase this week was the Bonne Maman jam advent calendars (thanks @Corraleno!). One of my stores had them, the other didn’t. So their stock varies even within 10 minutes of stores by each other. I get quite a few clothing items from there, too! I adore this sweater and have 3 from last year and 2 from this year!
  16. It sounds like you might like porcelain or bone china. I have (and love) Fiesta, but they are definitely heavy. However, my Christmas dishes are porcelain and they are a very nice weight—not heavy, but more substantial than corelle for sure. It doesn’t sound like you’d be interested in solid white, but Costco has a lovely set of Mikasa bone china dishes $20 off right now, making them (I think) $79. Good luck! I’ll be following along, as I do on ALL dishes threads.😁
  17. I’m so glad he’s ok. I’m sure the first moments of that phone call were gut wrenching before you knew he was fine.
  18. We have these, as well, and I love them! But I don’t transport food in them—just store leftovers in them. (My lids don’t get perfectly dry, but I have the cheapest builder-grade dishwasher that exists) I got the ones @BusyMom5 linked above for my mom—they’re similar to the Costco ones and she seems to really like them.
  19. Since a hostess gift is truly a “thought that counts gift” (ime I usually don’t know the hostess) I think giving something like hand soap is easily re-gifted if the recipient doesn’t like it. And with food allergies, chocolates, cookies, etc seem more risky of a gift to me than soap. Just my two cents 🤷🏻‍♀️
  20. Oooo…those look very nice!
  21. My go-to for simple hostess gifts for people I don’t know is a bottle of Bath and Body Works foaming hand soap with one of the pretty soap holders they sell. I put it in a pretty little gift bag with tissue paper and a simple card inside saying something like “Thank you so much for welcoming me into your home.” My other go-to is a candle—usually I’ll do those small ones from the same store. (The ones with the black lid)
  22. Our usual menu, all made by me since we don’t travel or have family come to us. (We save traveling for Christmas.) This is the same menu we have every single year. Roast turkey breast fried ham Cornbread dressing corn green beans Mac n cheese mashed potatoes deviled eggs Southwest crunch salad from a bag rolls (Costco bakery) homemade cranberry sauce (pioneer woman recipe) lemon meringue pie (I’ll make) cookies and cream pie (Edward’s frozen) pecan pie (Edward’s frozen) sweet tea apple cider I’d like roasted Brussels sprouts and also sweet potatoes, but I’m the only one who would eat it, so it’s just not worth it to me.
  23. @ScoutTN Which slippers? It’s quite possible you told me on another thread (that I started!) about slippers but I can’t find it. My slippers saga continues…😂
  24. I always love this topic and enjoy reading everyone’s responses. I usually have a list of a few things to tell people who ask (usually MIL, mom, dh sometimes), but this year I can’t think of much. I’d like to take my wedding band and engagement ring to be re-sized and call it “my present”, but usually we like presents to be things to unwrap, so we’ll see. I’ve also been looking for TWO YEARS with no luck for a replacement for my slippers. They’re the moccasin style. I’ve tried the $100 UGGS, didn’t like them. I’ve tried the Dearfoams, didn’t like them. My old ones are terrible and I must find something this year. Other things: Injinji toe socks Maybe earrings (cheap, kohls) Body scrub (although I just bought this one for myself and LOVE it!) I’d like to have a NEST Birchwood Pine candle, but they’re so crazy-expensive that it seems kind of silly. But man, that one smells so good! I have the little bitty votive one and would love to have one this bigger size! That’s all I can think of right now!
