  1. @ScoutTN Which slippers? It’s quite possible you told me on another thread (that I started!) about slippers but I can’t find it. My slippers saga continues…😂
  2. I always love this topic and enjoy reading everyone’s responses. I usually have a list of a few things to tell people who ask (usually MIL, mom, dh sometimes), but this year I can’t think of much. I’d like to take my wedding band and engagement ring to be re-sized and call it “my present”, but usually we like presents to be things to unwrap, so we’ll see. I’ve also been looking for TWO YEARS with no luck for a replacement for my slippers. They’re the moccasin style. I’ve tried the $100 UGGS, didn’t like them. I’ve tried the Dearfoams, didn’t like them. My old ones are terrible and I must find something this year. Other things: Injinji toe socks Maybe earrings (cheap, kohls) Body scrub (although I just bought this one for myself and LOVE it!) I’d like to have a NEST Birchwood Pine candle, but they’re so crazy-expensive that it seems kind of silly. But man, that one smells so good! I have the little bitty votive one and would love to have one this bigger size! That’s all I can think of right now!
  3. I’ll pray for you both to have a restful and peaceful day after such a rough night.
  4. For toppings on a grilled steak or grilled chicken taco, go with lots of freshly chopped cilantro, chopped white onion, and fresh lime juice. Serve on charred corn tortillas if possible. This is my favorite recipe for the chicken.
  5. @TechWife That will be beautiful together! Love it.
  6. I have the non-covered version of a Staub casserole dish that I replaced my Pyrex with. I love it! This would be similar in a covered version.
  7. Sometimes when I’m in a new town/city and don’t know who’s good/safe to use, I’ll head to the mall. I mean, it’s definitely not my first choice, but I actually (usually) get a decent enough upper body massage at one of the mall places. Sometimes I just use the ones right out in the middle of the aisle. But yeah, massage and Epsom salt hot bath (2 full cups of salt), and then my heated rice bag is my go-to first line of defense. I hope you feel better!
  8. Wow, that is super weird! Really, just bizarre. I mean, if you have to completely unload someone else’s cart, wouldn’t it be just as easy to walk to the front and get your own empty one?!
  9. I’m not much help bc I’d feel the same as you. I do think personality comes into play—MY personality. I’m a very loyal person and value that quality highly, so I feel very strong emotions to disloyalty. That makes it hard for me to just forgive and move on even when I *know* that I should.
  10. Swiss Army Knife Cologne sampler set (I like the one from Macy’s—I’ve bought it for two of my dc) Nike crew socks Crocs/slides/etc
  11. I started buying my dc matching pjs for Christmas when they were little bitty, so at least 15 years ago. I didn’t have social media and I never bought matching pjs with us (me and dh)…just the kids. They looked so cute in the Christmas morning photos with their little matching jammies, plus they’d keep wearing them long past that day. Now I just buy them a new pair of flannel pj pants that they open on Christmas Eve (and they wear those all year too).
  12. I’d do SW alabaster or functional gray, depending on shade of red and what other colors/shading on the brick. Like this.
  13. When I had strep throat a year or so ago (it was truly miserable!!), the doctor at urgent care asked me if I had take anything for pain and fever. I said “an ibuprofen”. He said “that’s not going to work. Take 3 ibuprofen 3 times a day for a couple of days.” Supplement with Tylenol if needed. So yeah, I upped my ibu real quick and that eased the fever and pain and gave the antibiotic time to kick in. It took 48 hours for any real difference. Ymmv.
  14. I saw the lemon curd at our grocery store and really wanted to buy it (I love their jams!), but didn’t really know what you do with it. How do you use/eat it?
  15. I don’t have them out yet so I can’t take a photo, but our first nativity was purchased after Christmas when our oldest was about 6 months old. I always loved the idea of having one the kids could play with and found one on clearance in a Hallmark store after the holiday. The little people and animals are made out of wood and they came in a little box/manger scene that you can latch. I loved it and bought it and have put it out every Christmas for the last 18 years. My dc played with it countless times over the years. ❤️ I’ll keep putting it out forever, even though they’ve long since stopped playing with it About 12 years ago, we added a wooden set that I found at Hobby Lobby and really loved. So we have those two. oooo…I actually found the nativity somewhere! Mine looks just like this one.
  16. @marbel Thank you so much! I’ve read The Christmas Party by Heyer but not any of the others. I’m excited to have some new reads for December! I enjoyed The Mistletoe Murder and Other Stories by PD James, if you’re interested in short stories.
  17. @marbel Ooooo…tell me more about these Christmas mysteries please! If they’re cozy and especially if they’re British, just go ahead and list links and/or titles please lol.
  18. I’m not sure what a good sale price is, but kohls has a pretty good sale going on right now on stuff like this. I normally dislike their “never know what the real price is” model, but sometimes it works out and I really get a good deal.
  19. I use Chat Books now for its complete ease of use. I’m not trying to make gorgeous books with embellishments, just trying to take photos from my phone and put them in a photo book—both times for my mom. Both times it was 100% on my phone—pictures and app. I completed the book with photos and captions in about an hour. Not sure if that’s what you’re looking for though.
  20. I most certainly wouldn’t get rid of a high-end new set that came with a house! I haven’t had a top loader in ages, but I have liked both of my front loaders. One was a GE that made it through more military (rough, rough!) moves than I could count. It was an older style (purchased maybe 15-ish years ago) and would get moldy where the fabric softener is placed and need regular cleaning there. I never really had stink in the drum and didn’t do much to take care of it other than run a cycle with a washer cleaning tablet once a year maybe?? My new set (also GE) is about 2 years old and smells and looks great! I haven’t left the door open or done one single thing to keep it “clean”, BUT it has the new vent fresh option so you can run that and it dries the whole thing. I love the front load bc it holds a LOT of towels/king bedding/etc and doesn’t get off balance or make a ton of noise. It spins like crazy though and gets tons of water out, so drying doesn’t take long at all. I like that, too!
  21. I’d do one of those pre-made salad kits you can get at any grocery store/Costco/wherever (poppyseed kale, southwest crunch, etc)
  22. I bought this one and the matching dryer a little over 2 years ago. So far, so good. (Delivery was a complete and utter nightmare, but the machines have worked great with no problems once we got them!)
  23. I think he’s hilarious too! I’ve seen all of his stand-up acts on tv, but I didn’t know he was on SNL!
  24. I’m sorry you aren’t well! I was quite sick for a week when I had it in the fall of 2022. Most of my family started feeling better around that point (a week in), but I still felt congested and just not turning the corner like them. I went to urgent care on the 13th day since first symptom and sure enough, had a sinus infection. I’m prone to them and pretty much knew at that point, so I went in to get antibiotics. They did an X-ray on my chest too since I was still coughing, but thankfully it was clear. I hope you feel better soon!
