  1. This looks beautiful! I'm taking a sociology of religion course and one assign, net requires that I visit a religious institution, and given my Christian upbringing and the amount of Buddhist and Hindi temples I've been too, I wanted to try a mosque (I've never been in one). I think we will take a little jaunt into DC for it, and dh loves Turkish food so it'll be a win for all. :)
  2. Yep, I would, without much thought honestly. The only move that would give me pause would be international, but only for the logistics. I live for moving. I grew up military, was civilian for my first ten years as an adult then went active duty and married active duty. I LOVE moving. It drives me. I don't have any great desire to be near my family, even though we are very close, and I make my own community wherever I am. I have lived all over the country, and I certainly have my preferences, but there are few places I would adamantly not want to go. I'm a West coast gal that's lived in the south a few times and I definitely say you should go for it. :)
  3. Love Love your family Love your neighbors Love the planet Love the unloveable
  4. Yes, at night I use oil then foaming cleanser, it makes my face feel great. I just rinse with water in the morning. I went nuts in Korea, we went to this huge shopping district in Seoul, and I probably spent about $400-500 on skin care and makeup, I got a bunch of sheet masks, some cleansers, some skincare sets, some snail cream, several BB creams and cushions, a few lipsticks. I'm still working my way through a lot of it. Then I realized that I could buy a bunch in Hawaii where we were living at the time, so I frequented Nature Republic and Tony Moly. I don't have sensitive skin though and I vary my routine a lot, I'm also a total makeup addict.
  5. I second the Asian skin care lines. I bought a ton when I was in Korea last year, sort of stopped using it when life got busy and then just started again two weeks ago and I'm already seeing a huge difference in my skin. If you google Asian skincare routine you'll get some good info but I think one of the things that makes the biggest difference is oil cleansing. I'm currently using some Laneige cleanser and their multi-berry yogurt peel and mask, they are incredible, my skin feels like satin.
  6. Thanks everyone, upon reading about the medical care yesterday, I decided that as long as I have kids, Thailand would have to be the place. While Bangkok is a short 45 minute plane ride from Siem Reap, it's just too scary to go that route, it's the "kiss of the death" Lanny spoke of. The bright side is my husband has lived in Bangkok, we have family there, the medical care is better than here in my one emergency room experience there, and jobs won't be hard to come by. And we can go to Cambodia very easily so I can still get my fix. :D My husband is Asian, so we will still stand out, but not as bad. I imagine if we go this route we are looking at a few years of planning, and both of us have lived in developing countries, so while culture shock is definitely a thing, it's not like we've never been outside the U.S. long term. Off to look up I am a triangle.
  7. One thing that's not as big an issue as it would be for many is that we do actually family very near there that would be easy and fairly cheap to visit. I could definitely still see the loneliness being overwhelming, even though its been over a decade since I've lived anywhere near family.
  8. Thanks! Lots of good information and things to consider. We will see where it goes as I wade into research. Maybe just a long vacation, but you never know. :)
  9. Since we went to Cambodia last year it's been calling me back. I desperately want to move there. We've moved a lot but not abroad and usually associated with a job. This time we'd be doing it one our own. My dh is multilingual and I don't doubt ever of our abilities to learn the language and get jobs. Tell me your experience moving abroad. What would I need to know and need to plan for? Thanks!
  10. I don't often eat breakfast, but most days I'll have some sort of brunch. Cheese and crackers with fruit are my go to, but leftovers and sandwiches are good too. I just don't care for breakfast foods that much.
  11. Yes to all of of this. Even being very thin and very fit doesn't give me very visible abs because I'm sort of square shaped and carry fat in my belly. Unfortunately, pregnancy wasn't very kind to my skin, so even if the definition was visible it wouldn't look smooth.
  12. I've seen that one before but it never fails to get my goat. Without going political, I cannot believe that so many people are okay with this and actually vote for this.
  13. Fun post! I love traveling and dreaming up vacations! I have been bitten by a major travel bug. :)
  14. I love my Charge HR, but the Blaze looks awesome for dh, for the first time he has a job where he can have electronics on him, definitely thinking about this for his birthday.
  15. I love our house. I've moved a lot and grew up fairly poor so home ownership didn't seem like it would be in the cards for me. We bought this house just 2 months ago and I chose it on my own. It's the nicest house I've ever lived in. The kitchen is what sold me on it, I've been so inspired to cook and bake lately because I love it so much. I've painted and furnished it exactly as my dreams have always been. It's perfect for us. I don't love the town but I love the neighborhood and the specific location, it's walking distance to Target, grocery store, and a few other things. The neighbor's are great, the yard is small but manageable with an in-ground pool that I think is going to be awesome in the summer. It's too big for retirement so we will downsize in 10 years or so, and go to a nicer town as well. The exterior is a bit boring, very blocky 1960s style, but it was a total renovation inside.
  16. I used to work as a weather forecaster, I loved it. It was challenging, exciting, scientific, and you get legitimate feedback on how you did. I would also love working at or owning a book store, working with the homeless, or working with LGBT youth, though I'm not sure in what capacity. I'm currently working toward a sociology degree that I hope will help me get into the business of helping people, but probably in an unpaid capacity. I would hate anything in the medical field, been there, done that. I have bad feet, so nothing where I had to wear heels or stand constantly. I'll be a dissenter and say I wouldn't enjoy working on an archaeological dig, I had to do that for a class once and it was interesting and I got to find something really cool, but it just didn't float my boat.
  17. 1. Pandemic 2. Scattergories or scrabble 3. Agricola
  18. I'm a pretty good cook, I like to try new things a lot, so a weeks menu for us may have 4-7 new dishes in it. However, I almost always follow recipes, very rarely just throw things together of my own accord. Dh does almost all of the chopping for me too, which I absolutely hate doing so it really makes me more inclined to cook nicer meals. I enjoy cooking and baking and being in my kitchen.
  19. I'm on day 24 and totally over it. All I want is wine and pizza. I've never struggled this much with it, I think it's because I accidentally had something with corn maltodextrin and something with rice flour. It's making me feel super discouraged and I just don't want to do it anymore. The thought of even entering the kitchen makes me want to stab myself. On he bright side, dh and I discussed at length how we want to go forward. We decided we will eat paleo from Sunday mornings until dinner on Fridays and then relax but not go crazy on Friday nights through Saturday. If we can avoid the slippery slope, I think this will be a really good moderation lifestyle for us.
  20. BWI's official recording was 29.2 inches, the most in recorded history. We are very close to BWI and that seems about right for here too. My kids have barely seen snow before, and since we just moved here from Hawaii, it's been quite the exciting thing. Now that it's not windy, we are going to head out to make snowmen and play for a bit. We have a great hill on public land right behind our house, so we need to fashion some kind of sled. Anyone know if boogie boards would work?
  21. My life has just improved immeasurably. Dh found a compliant cashew milk, and while it's not half and half it definitely is making my coffee creamier. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
