  1. I also HAVE read TTUAC and their "Helpmeet" book and somehow ended up with their NGJ magazines coming to my house until I moved. I know people who follow their methods and I have had long discussions and my opinion remains the same. Rubbish. Dangerous Rubbish. HITTING AN INFANT IS ABUSE. An infant? A little baby who can't even crawl or speak? There is no way around it. IT IS ABUSE. An infant does not pull your hair because he is NAUGHTY. He pulls your hair because he is an infant and they have reflexes and one of them is reaching for and grabbing things. Study child development for goodness sake. We could probably have long discussions over spanking an older child BUT THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR PHYSICALLY HARMING AN INFANT. PERIOD. If you cannot handle the ups and downs of parenting an INFANT without resorting to physically harming that infant then DO NOT HAVE CHILDREN. And I don't care if anyone agrees with me. There is nothing you can say to change my mind. I will go kicking and screaming to my grave with this same belief.
  2. Here they are called that and that is how they refer to themselves as well. I never heard that in the states though.
  3. This has never happened but if it did I would do exactly as above.
  4. A cruise with my in- laws would be a fate worse than death. :grouphug::grouphug:
  5. Well I will definitely post them sometime in late January. I would LOVE to have you here!!
  6. I just hit 4000 posts. 4000!! And my title didn't change. I am still an Amateur Bee Keeper. I want recognition darn it! You don't change levels at 4000? Oh poop. :tongue_smilie:
  7. Can you please pick me to run the U.S. Dept of Education? Pretty please? :D
  8. That's a tough one... 1. Is there any way your dh may find out on his own and find out you already knew about it? 2. Could you wait...give your dh more time to grieve and heal before telling him?
  9. 1. I am an introvert although most people would not think so and I am exhausted at the end of every day from having to be "on" all the time. 2. I've been engaged 4 times. I had major commitment issues when I was younger. I actually called off one wedding a month before it happened. But I have been happily married now for almost 15 years. 3. People tell me all the time that they are intimidated by me which is SO WEIRD to me since I am a lot more shy and thin-skinned than I appear to be. 4. I love 70's and 80's rock. Aerosmith, Van Halen, AC/DC, Motley Crue, etc. 5. I hate cherries and cherry-flavored anything. 6. I had a chance to have a "fling" with someone famous when I was 19 years old and I turned him down. 7. I am not nearly as "conservative" as some think I am and a lot more "conservative" than others think I am. 8. I am obsessed with crime shows like CSI and Bones and Criminal Minds. 9. I have a paralyzing, irrational fear of stinging insects like bees, wasps, hornets. 10. I hate it when people drink our of their soup or cereal bowls. It grosses me out and there is no rational explanation for it.
  10. Uh, yep. And because I just felt like "coming out of the closet" on this. Everyone was so gaga over this book that I felt like there was something wrong with me because I didn't like it. But I also don't like Karen Kingsbury. Or Saxon Math. I'm such a rebel. :D
  11. "My granddaughters laugh with joy after giving their baby dolls a spanking for “being naughty†because they know their dolls will grow up to be the best mamas and daddies in the world—just like them." This is from Michael Pearl's blog. This makes me want to VOMIT.
  12. I love all the funny inside jokes I have with my 13yo ds and I love that he is not too cool to hang out with me. :D
  13. I did not like Ann Voskamp's "One Thousand Gifts". I thought it was self-indulgent, theologically sketchy at times, and reading it was like wading waist-deep through sticky-sweet molasses. There. I said it. I know Christian homeschooler moms are SUPPOSED to love this book but i didn't. I'm sorry. I'll turn my membership card back in. Let the tomato-throwing begin.... :tongue_smilie:
  14. I loathe the Pearls, their books, anything to do with them. Truly LOATHE them with a fiery passion. Did anyone else see this on Anderson Cooper's blog? http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2011/08/15/video-spare-the-rod-spoil-the-child/?hpt=ac_mid And part two http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2011/08/16/video-spare-the-rod-spoil-the-child-part-2/?hpt=ac_t1 I want to cry and scream and then use the same punishment on those parents AND the Pearls.
  15. My job now... I am the Principal of an International Christian school in Malaysia. I love it!!!!
  16. :iagree: He is my husband... if they take a stand against my husband they take a stand against ME.
