  1. Third grade for both my boys. Yes, I will be starting my daughter next year when she hits third grade. We begin with Prima Latina. I sometimes wonder if 2nd grade would be a good place to start, but wih MP's progression, I wouldn't have a child begin the Form Series before 5th grade. My pretty bright 5th grader is in First Form and he's not struggling, but it is challenging for him. However, I have all three kids doing Greek Codecrackers from CAP and my second grader is just doing great. She's got the Greek Alphabet down quite well, and is starting to "get it".
  2. This. I stress about giving gifts. Sure, sometimes I'm shopping and I see something that I know person X will love and I get It for them, but more often than not, I hate shopping for gifts. And it's not that I don't care and it's not that I don't want to put in the effort. It's just hard for me. I don't particularly like gifts, and I have trouble buying them for other people.
  3. Good Morning, Ladies! Got my walking in this morning. I've been more diligent about that. Today.... ** school for the kids ** youngest dd's have a physical this afternoon. First one with our family doctor. They were seeing another dr. before the adoption was finalized because my dr. doesn't take state insurance. But now, we're all together at the same place. ** ds1 has basketball game tonight ** I'm going to try to get some baking done this afternoon ** dd has tumbling this afternoon Have a good day, my dears. Jean, hope you feel better and don't push yourself too hard.
  4. My dd sailed right through it. And she even got ear tubes put in at the same time. It did cure her snoring. She threw up a bit in recovery, but after that she was fine. The only day she was really "sick" was the day of the surgery. We did give her the Tylenol with Codeine that was prescribed for a couple of days, until it made her constipated. But she not once complained of pain. After the first day, it was all we could do to keep her down. They say no running for 2 weeks so they don't pop the clots. She watched a lot of tv and got totally addicted to Otter Pops.
  5. Yes, everything, every day. Unless I'm sick.
  6. I'm answering before I read any replies. I think of it as a boy's name, though it could be pretty as a girl's name.
  7. Well, I believe that whether you are a Christian or not is certainly not dependent on what sort of tv show you watch or books you read. However, I think the rub comes when as Christians, we are exhorted in Philippians 4:8 to think about things (which would probably include putting these things into your mind) that are truthful, pure, lovely, commendable and excellent. And so, as a Christian I should then place the books I read, tv shows and movies I watch, and music I listen to against this standard to see if it measures up. And then, if you are a Christian, and want to live your life according to Scripture, can you justify what you are watching, reading and listening to? I'm not going to be the judge of any of these shows and I admit that some of the shows I watch do not measure up to that standard. We need to judge for ourselves.
  8. Cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, green onions, green beans.... Those are my staple crops. We do experiment a little with other stuff, but those I count on year after year.
  9. Well, it's noon! Amy, Happy Birthday. Sorry I didn't get that in earlier. And in honor of the Hive, I am sending you telepathically, a cream filled chocolate cupcake delivered by a handsome snowboarder in a kilt. I hope you like chocolate. And I hope you like cupcakes. And I hope you like handsome young snowboarders in kilts. (Geez, I've been watching too much Olympics). Anyhow, school is mostly done. Kids are watching their science video. Dd3 is screaming because she doesn't want to take a nap. And I have a huge mess in the kitchen to clean up!
  10. Morning gals! Sorry I didn't show up yesterday. I don't know why. Today is Monday. I hate Mondays. We have a lot of school to get done, we have to have the house picked up for the cleaners.... it's just a hard day to get through and there's pressure to have it all done and be out of the house by 3:30, So, today... ** school ** get DS to practice his guitar. He just started lessons, so this practicing thing is going to be new to him. ** pick up house ** allergy shots ** dinner at my parents' house
  11. We did for a year. From a content standpoint, it's great. I learned a lot. It just bored the kids to tears.
  12. I was wondering what that was all about. When they played that clip when they announced the team and that lady kept having to defend their choice..... I kept thinking, if she's that controversial, why are they taking her? Are there some politics or money involved? There's gotta be other skaters just as good. I'm just a conspiracy theorist, I know.
  13. I don't like it so much. It does some like a pet name. I like Chloe better.
  14. I thought Wagner's skating was very good, but that little Russian girl was truly amazing! My dd and I were just slack jawed at that last twirly thing she did. As far as Wagner's attitude.... at least pretend to be modest and humble. Good grief! I'm crushing on the snowboarders myself!
  15. Lazy Saturday afternoon. Got most of my work done. Now just folding laundry and watching speed skating.
  16. Hi Ladies, It's a relaxing Saturday here. Slept in a little. Had a nice cuppa joe and then made breakfast and took 4 kids with me to Walmart. Somehow it's less chaotic, even with only one less child. This afternoon: - clean up kitchen - work on Children,s Church curriculum -work on budget stuff - fold laundry -watch Olympics (which I may do while I'm folding laundry) Jean, hope you feel better. Glad you got a good night's sleep last night! Amy, good to see your post. Take care of yourself during this time of grieving. We're continuing to pray for your family.
  17. I am enjoying it. However, the American sweaters are just down right hideous!
  18. I don't let my boys wrestle with their sisters or any other girls. There may not be anything inappropriate at a young age, but I just don't want them to even start. But that's just me.
  19. Oh mercy, I'm so glad other people's children are like that. My kids do exactly the same thing. They bug eachother and bug eachother and bug eachother all day, every day. And they try to drag me into the middle of it. And I cannot get away from them. They won't leave me alone. I tell my daughter,"I'm not listening to you" as I put my fingers in my ears and walk away from her and she follows me, complaining about every little thing that has recently been done to her.
  20. Well, dinner is over. The kids are watching Shrek. I think that's one of the few kids' movies that can truly amuse me. I love it! Got everything done today, but I am beat. I just feel stressed out all the time. Sometimes I think that's been affecting my ability to lose weight. Does anyone else feel that way? I don't know what it is exactly, but it just feel .... like my life has me in a stranglehold.
  21. Bring a book, some knitting, texting, bills to pay..... I'm sorry! I feel for you. Sort of. I've been to kids' birthday parties where I didn't really want to be, but fortunately they have all been at venues where they give you 2 hours and then kick you out.
  22. Morning Girls, Jean, will continue to pray for you! Tress, will pray for you, too. There's been a lot of conflict around here, too. I'd like to know what a "Happy Mama" is. And on-going prayers for Amy and her family. Wow! Lots to pray for this morning! Well, got my morning constitutional completed this morning. Got a nice bit of rain yesterday and they're predicting more. ** school this morning - Verse quiz, spelling test, health, literature, writing, math, science and Latin(for the boys) ** co-op this afternoon. Starting my rocketry class. ** ds9 starts guitar lessons this afternoon ** DS 10 has basketball practice tonight Have a good day, everyone,
  23. We do it pretty much as instructed. It works well for us! It's my second go round now, with my daughter and she seems to like it well enough. Not as much as my boys did, though!
  24. Take it easy, Jean. Don't push yourself. I know, easier said than done! Well, school is done! Kitchen is almost cleaned up! Dropped dd off at Kingdom Kids Had a few more late RSVPs to rocketry class, so I need to prepare for them! Picked up extra kid #1 from bus stop. The school district makes you meet the kindergarteners at the bus. :(
