  1. Do you mind sharing your original recipe?? Sorry, no healthier options from me, but would love to try yours. I can tweak it a bit for less sugar and oil and I'll let you know how it goes 😊
  2. If you can come to an agreement with your neighbor and find a good balance between your income and what you can pay her I don't see why it wouldn't work. Yes, it'll be a change. But at least at home they are somewhat following what you have chosen. She's not choosing their curriculum, hopefully she'll be more of an aid, following the plan and curriculum YOU have chosen for your family. Yes, it might not be your same teaching style etc, but you would still have much say and involvement in your kids education. At school you would have no choice of what they are taught and how. If the kids are willing to try, she is willing to try, and you can come up with an arrangement that benefits both parties (your family and her), I don't see why it can't work. I hope you can figure out!! I'm sorry you are going through this, it must be really hard :(
  3. Have been thinking of you! Praying you are somewhat ok
  4. I didn't know there was a book. No, no way. So glad teacher asked.
  5. I have never done them, so this is good to know! The recipe I have calls for 10 minutes of mixing, so hand mixing would be ok?
  6. No I wouldn't have. And I wouldn't have thought of offering to dial it for him.
  7. Ughhh!!!! Thank you :( Maybe a friend has a kitchen aid or one of those big bulky things I could borrow? Ugh!!
  8. I'm so sorry you are going through this! I would make a priority to work on the relationship with my daughter. As much as I could I'd try to get to the root of this. What was her plan? Is there someone encouraging her to run away? What was she going to do? I mean, she's only 10...what was her plan for food, shelter, transportation etc? Just a couple comments on your op are red flags for us. Her own computer at 10? Paying for a broken cellphone...her cellphone?? We have 10 and 12 yr old daughters, also have a young adult. Our oldest didn't get her own laptop til she graduated from highschool. There's just TOO MUCH out there for us to be comfortable with our girls having their own computer. A couple years ago a police officer came to our church, gave us parents a wonderful talk about online safety. Part of it was making the right decision as of when a child has access to electronic devices. I really encourage you to try to ask the police station if they have someone who could talk to you and her about online safety, electronics usage etc. And your expectation for her to pull away?? She's only 10. Maybe you felt better left alone, but maybe your dd is very lonely. I really wish you the best!! I'd definitely make her my number one priority. Children need to feel loved, and I can't tell if she feels loved or wanted right now.
  9. I feel for your kids :( I hope never ever anyone thought of me as something they have to get out of their wallet. Not sure if I'm reading much into your response, but it really came across (for me) a little too harsh. I hope I'm wrong.
  10. I think actually your brother proved a point. He's not able to take care of his own deals. Maybe he doesn't need financial help, but the relationship between him and mom is for him to deal with, not you. I'd talk to him and let him know I'm apologizing to mom for backing out on her, and I'd probably reschedule my visit until he figures out things with mom. I'm sorry you are in the middle of a messy situation that is not yours to deal with :(
  11. If we gave them their own cellphone at 13? Definitely yes. But we don't. We checked our dd's phone as needed at an older age than that.
  12. I'm along the lines of the ones who are getting married decide what would they like. Parents putting together guest list? No way. Hope the couple can find a happy medium. Choose the guests they'd like, and the type of reception they would like.
  13. Lol!!! Noooooo!!! In all seriousness though, I don't want a huge and expensive new appliance. Would cinnamon rolls won't work with a manual mixer? It does say to mix for 10 minutes... don't want to burn my little faithful hand mixer :(
  14. Oh my! This things seem fancy!! I just use a small hand mixer. We don't bake a whole lot though. I do want to make Cinnamon rolls from scratch some day... hope my little hand mixer works :)
  15. Google Mrs Mungo baked oatmeal (there's a thread on this forum somewhere). We tried it and it's SO good! I believe I did cut on the sugar though, can't really remember. Sorry I can't post link, can't do it from cellphone.
  16. Oops! Totally missed some wording there, or somehow read often only during apple season. Yeah, we all eat apples, love them. Fuji, gala, honeycrisp (when on sale) are usually what we get. We don't care for red (we find them dry and grainy) or green (just too sour)
  17. I didn't vote because none of the options reflected our answer for the second question. Our kids eat apples constantly, regardless of if in season or not. "An apple a day keeps the doctor away"
  18. Magic Tree House Box car children Biographies Sir cumference And our 8 yr old LOVES sports, so he's read a lot about football, baseball etc
  19. I live at home. AZ is home for us. I'm sure it has it's disadvantages like any other places, and I do long for cooler fall and spring, but I don't like harsh winters, so I'd rather live in sunny and hot AZ. Love the dry heat (compared to mushy, hot, humid). We like the cost of living as well (compared to other more expensive places). We have family and friends somewhat close by. Dh has lived in AZ most of his life. I am very far from where I was raised, but don't have too fond memories of my childhood, so it's perfectly fine to live far from there. Hope you find a place you can call home :)
  20. Have been thinking of this as well. Hope it got resolved!
  21. Dh is hard to gift, he really doesn't need or want anything. I always get him t-shirts, got him a cardinals T-shirt which he'll like. I always get nuts, pumpkin seeds and beef jerky. And yes, another dh with bday right before Christmas 😰. What he really wants is an F150, and I can't afford that :(
  22. I love our round stone thingamaggig, the garlic press, spatulas, the round caddy to put tools. Also have the crockrock. Love our set of measuring spoons and cups. Oh, and absolutely love my wine opener!! I do like PC :) ETa: which meat thing is everyone talking about? Now I'm curious :)
