  1. We keep it in the fridge. It doesn't bother any of us using it cold. It would be a little more expensive, and maybe cumbersome, but you could always get a huge box of ketchup packets from Sam's Club and keep it in the pantry :)
  2. I love that movie! :D In the old movie, Wonka was mean and creepy.....Johnny Depp in this part just cracks me up lol
  3. We all go to the same family practice. I have had the same experience mentioned above with pediatricians. The last time I took any of my kids to a ped was when they (rudely) handed me a form to sign to say that I am knowingly endangering the health of my child (by not vax'ing). We had to get in to see a doc that day, only appt. I could get, and I knew it was going to be an unpleasant experience. Before that visit, the last one was when one of the docs tried to forcefully retract my intact son (at 9 months old) and insisted there was something wrong with him and that he needed to be cut. So, not only do I not care for the attitude, but I question their education (in this area anyway).
  4. I was sneaking sips of scotch and pepsi as far back as I can remember - mainly at family get togethers while all the grownups were playing cards around the table. I first drank enough to get a buzz around 8th grade. I hit the bottle pretty hard in 9th (never liked beer, went straight for the Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, etc...right out of the bottle) and I was pretty much over it by 10th grade. I probably haven't had more than 10 drinks over 10 years (and sometimes that was just a sip). I pray my kids escape the fascination.
  5. We spent a little under $600. I spent about $350 on our 3 kids, maybe another $40 on 3 niece/nephews, and about $200 for a single mom with 2 boys (through the woman's shelter program). We don't buy gifts for adults (most adults around us have the money to gift themselves all year long anyway) and don't exchange gifts with each other.
  6. Thanks for the replies everyone! I think I will make UG resources my priority (buying) and utilize my (incredibly lacking) library system for D level resources when she needs a bit more. Oh, and yes, this is for Year 1 :)
  7. Levis (525s I think), Lee and maybe some St. Johns Bay have worked for me (also a size 16, pear shaped though). Even when I was thin I had trouble (always have had a rather large backside lol) - as soon as I found pants that fit my thighs, butt, and incredibly short self the waist in the back stuck out so far. The only jeans that ever fit were Lucky's (and they may still fit at this size, but there's no way I'm paying that much for a size I hate so much and don't intend to stay at lol).
  8. That sounds like my dd. I don't think any book has ever taken her 2 to 3 weeks :tongue_smilie:I'm not sure she could stretch a book out that long if she tried lol I'm not sure sure what to get. I'm thinking maybe I'll try D for unit 1. It's easier to know if something is too much rather than not challenging enough.
  9. Thanks! That's what I was hoping to hear. With our current curriculum, it seems to take a lot to bring it up to her level, the TM is becoming a vague guide lol
  10. I have a question about where to place my dd(10) in TOG. She has always read a few grade levels higher, but she's pretty average everywhere else (maybe slightly above in some areas). Is there something on the site that helps with placing? It would be good to know what students are expected to know going into the D level. I guess what I'm wondering is would it be easier to ramp up UG if needed, or slow things down in D? I only plan on buying resources for the first unit to see how it goes.
  11. I have. I didn't get an implant and it's not even noticeable really (not the very back one, but next to it). I have a very small mouth though (after that one, I had all 4 wisdom and 3 others removed for braces). There was a gap, but the braces closed it up just fine. Sure I would have liked to keep it, but I don't have any regrets if that helps :D
  12. Here's a tutorial for one way to do it http://blog.thembid.com/2007/08/24/removing-backgrounds-quickly-in-the-gimp/ In your case, in the first image you would just consider the body part of the background to remove. The image you want it pasted on would be the new background. You may have to play with it a bit to get the scaling right.
  13. I think the only place you'll find it is at Walmart, maybe Sam's Club. If you want to purchase in bulk, the person in charge of the infant department may be able to help you out. You could always go cloth too :D (just had to slip that in, I'm a big fan of cloth lol)
  14. You had me at the fevers. I'd stay home for that, but then again, I don't want to go (dh's is tomorrow lol). But with everything else, even if I wanted to go, I think I'd feel more comfortable staying home too. Hope your kiddos are feeling better soon!
  15. :iagree: What if one of the 10 yr olds in his group did that, even if it was just meant for a buddy to see? I don't think the man has any place in youth ministries. How can he be a good role model if he is acting like a kid at 2 AM so the pastor has to ask him to keep it down or filming himself urinate on someones elses camera as a prank? I wouldn't leave my kids in a group with such leaders....
  16. I wasn't suggesting she wait. I majored in psych....I know how serious those signs are. All I was saying is how do you go about telling a mom her child is showing the early signs of psychopathic illness? I was just commiserating how hard of a situation this is, I guess. I agree though, the boy needs professional help now.
  17. Up until the hurting small animals thing, it sounded like its a parental issue. But animal cruelty is a huge red flag. I think the boy might need the help of a professional. But how can you tell a mom that? I think that would be hard to witness too :(
  18. You might try looking at Adorama.com for some good deals. They offer a great warranty and the refurbished cameras are just as good as the new ones (thats where I got my Canon Rebel Xti...haven't had ANY trouble with it and have a great warranty in case I do).
  19. I know I will sound like the odd one here, but if I had a do over, I would NOT buy an iMac again. It has been nothing but trouble (fan going out, dvd not working, locking up, etc). I may as well have bought a Windows machine! I justified paying such a higher price for mac because it was supposed to be a higher quality system. :glare: Plus the only place we can take it for repair is about an hour away (only open during the week too). The only redeeming quality for me is I don't have to worry about viruses (but with macs becoming more popular, that may not always be the case). If you get a Mac, definitely get the Apple care (or whatever its called) where they will send a tech to your home for repairs. If you are still considering a Windows machine, I think a lot of places will still sell XP.
  20. I was told today that the first serving is dressing, the second serving is filling, and any other servings you get are stuffing :D
  21. I'll be making Ambrosia (my version of it anyway). It's basically a mixture of cool whip (it does have sodium caseinate, you may be able to use something that doesn't, I think I usually get a generic brand without), orange slices, pineapple chunks, and coconut. I think that's it (I'm probably forgetting something). There are about a million versions (some with diary, some with nuts), so its basically one of those recipes you just make it how you like it :) edited to add.....marshmallows! I think it has marshmallows too :)
  22. True...but I was thinking more along the lines of beans and grains. Which would do fine soaking. I would hope if there was such a feature, a person would know not to leave meat sitting out lol
  23. I agree....the Rival Smart Crock Pot cooks way too hot...thats the one I had LOL That one you linked to is the one my MIL has. She seems to be happy with it (only used it a few times so far though). I need to ask her if it can be programmed to turn on automatically at a certain time (or certain number of hours later).
  24. This isn't looking good :tongue_smilie: Has anyone ever heard of slow cooker with a timer like bread machines have? I could have sworn that I've seen one before. It would be so handy when using a slow cooker for breakfast.
