  1. 10, 16, and 9 months. My ds, skinny minny little guy, walked on his knees from early on until he was 16 months lol
  2. The "Bold Believers" activity books are pretty good. You can download a few for free to check out (which are slightly higher quality than the ones you can purchase from vombooks.com). The quality is lacking, but the content is definitely there. And its easier to justify the cost considering the cause :) http://www.kidsofcourage.com/downloads (5 free books after you sign up for the newsletter) As for incorporating them - I think they would be pretty easy to incorporate any time you cover a particular geographical area. Or even just using them as their own little curriculum :)
  3. That's the first I've seen of that site - I really like it! Now to figure out how to justify the cost :tongue_smilie:
  4. Sorry about that....I was referring to Around the World in 180 Days. The "answer key" in the TM is basically the student workbook page for page with answers filled in. Its not exactly page for page because the questions in the student workbook are spread out a bit more to allow room to write answers. If you can get the TM inexpensively, the student pages are only about $10 (they sell it for additional students - same as the workbook, just hole punched instead of bound).
  5. All Through the Ages isn't really a curriculum - its like a really organized book list! :D It has sections for chronological and geographical history, and a little on science, math, arts, etc. And in each section they have it divided further into categories such as specific events, biography, fiction, literature, culture, etc. I used it in addition to Around the World to find books that correlated to what we were studying, but it would be good for any curriculum. For example, in Around the World, if you were studying South America at the beginning it would suggest a few different famous people to study. You could use All Through the Ages to find biographies and books to study those people, or you might find a biography suggestion for someone else to study. Oh, also thought I'd mention, the teacher manual/guide has a copy of all the student pages from the workbook, only filled in. You can also buy the student pages separate from the teacher manual. So if you find the tm used a lot cheaper, you could always order the student pages by itself.
  6. You could try setting up a recorder instead of taking it all down yourself as she says it. Sounds like she's doing great! Kids memories amaze me lol
  7. Oh, one more resource that I really like is All Through The Ages (this isn't the site I ordered from, it was just the first link in google) - very helpful :)
  8. Yep - student workbook and the guide. We didn't stick with this book very long, but I really liked it. I'd say if you are an avid library goer, you may not need to purchase much of anything to go with it. There is a resource suggestion list at the beginning of each section (a lot of fiction readers, text books from BJU, A Beka, Usborne, suggestions for people to study, etc). If resources you already have, or have access to in the library, aren't quite enough, there's always the internet ;) If you want, I can give you more detailed info from the book, just let me know :)
  9. Thanks for the link! There was a bit more detail there that I hadn't seen yet :)
  10. I considered getting that one. When I was reading reviews, I saw WAY too many stories of having a clogged up CatGenie full of liquefied cat poo :ack2: Not my idea of convenience lol They do sound neat though.
  11. We have one - LitterMaid. We're on our second one (first one died after about a year or so). It's pricey to keep buying the bins, and you only have so many options for which litter, but its well worth it IMO! It's also not totally handsfree or automatic though. Our cats tend to push all the litter to one corner - the light starts blinking and it stops running. So about once every couple of days we have to redistribute the litter, turn it off and on to get it moving again. Plus changing the bin would expose pregnant women just like scooping would (changed every 2-3 days). I think it would definitely lessen the number of times of exposure though...
  12. Never makes it to the oven :D Literally, we just snack on the cookie dough here and there. We make it with ener-g egg or just leave out the egg all together (I can't eat eggs).
  13. I read (in the files linked from the link I posted earlier) that the shooting was witnessed by his wife and another police officer. And that he took the moose to Palin's father. He processed it for him so it wouldn't go to waste. He waited for him to pick up the meat and he never did, so he took it to Wooten. And even if he was present, I don't think that would make it any more "messy". I wouldn't consider him corrupt by being present. If I was there, I know I wouldn't want to take on a state trooper with a rifle and an anger management problem...
  14. The Colbert Report  I love that show! But I guess that really doesn't count :tongue_smilie:We don't have cable so I get my news piecemeal from all over the internet.
  15. I did read about it. This blog has some interesting info as well.. http://www.floppingaces.net/2008/08/29/palins-troopergate-beating-msm-distortions-to-the-truth/
  16. Macro-evolution is a theory, not a fact. It takes as much faith to believe in it as it does any religion. And what is religion? A particular system of faith.... I also think creationism/intelligent design should be presented right along side the theory of evolution. And you know, if that never comes to pass....at least have macro-evolution taught for what it is, an unproven theory.
  17. I just react naturally - which is usually yelling OUCH! and pulling her away FAST. Then I say, "Ouch that hurts me! We're all done" and put her on the floor. I think she's only bit 2-3 times at most. She does NOT appreciate my reaction, but I can't help it lol We're going on 18 months. My son self weaned shortly after 2 yrs.
  18. Here's another that I thought was really neat (although, having trouble getting it to load tonight)... http://www.babbel.com/
  19. I'd go with meds from the doc (even with gentian violet there are possible health risks). At the same time, cut out (or down) sugar and refined carbs (don't feed the yeast beast). Start taking probiotics. You can even get powdered or chewable probiotics for the little one (be sure to purchase from a cold section, probiotics sold off the room temp shelf aren't as good). Hope that helps! Good luck!
  20. This is something we are dealing with right now too. I have been turned off from the nursery ever since my son (4.5 yrs now) was a newborn. I really wanted to keep him with me (easy enough in the sanctuary, but harder in sunday school). I felt pressure to put him in the nursery by the time he was 3 months old or so :001_huh: But, by about 6 weeks (maybe earlier) I went ahead and tried it. There was a lady in our SS class that was due about the same time as me, but her baby (also a boy) passed the day before her scheduled csec :( (what made it even harder, this was the second time it happened to her, boys both times) It was too hard on her to see him in class, and we had nowhere else to go. I told them get me IMMEDIATELY if he starts to cry. They didn't listen :( He got so worked up that he went on a nursing strike the rest of that day. With nowhere else to go, and I certainly wasn't going to leave him the nursery again, we just stopped going. And unfortunately, we really haven't gone much since. What is stopping me now is if I go to SS I know I will be expected to leave my daughter (1.5 yrs) in the nursery. And that's just not something I am comfortable with just yet. I'd say her stranger anxiety is even worse than his was (although, his started from day 1 lol). Taking the kiddos to service is just fine, but SS/service are a package deal so I miss both. I don't have any research or articles for you though, sorry.
  21. I was always afraid I was a weirdo for loving the smell of bread dough more than the fresh baked bread smell :p You've got a fellow dough sniffer here :D
