  1. This is the one I was considering. I like it because the edges are covered, unlike this one that my sister has. I've seen the kids put a foot through it and do a face plant a few too many times.
  2. I think Miles knows more than he was letting on when he told Sawyer Juliet said "It worked". I think that maybe Juliet was passing between time when she was near death (similar to what happened to Desmond a while back). Anyone notice the odd comment she made about having coffee and going dutch? Maybe they met in 2004 and that was a bit of conversation from that time (so much was different with that flight, maybe Sawyer & Juliet were already together, maybe they were about to meet......maybe it was conversation with somebody else?). Then she sort of came to and said she had something important to say. It worked - in 2004, the plane never crashed on the island. They are on the island in 2007 though. If they were supposed to be on that island, what if something happens after the averted 2004 crash to bring them all to the island anyway? And Miles could have sensed the same thing from Sayid. Maybe Sayid passed between times as well. Was he really even dead after being pulled out of the water? Smokey just took Locke's likeness, he didn't reanimate his dead body. I think Sayid is Sayid. It may not be two separate realities, just past/future. As for the island being under water in 2004, but not in 2007 with everybody there, I don't know. That does suggest different realities (although, if the island can move through time and space, surely it can make it above water lol). This show is too much!:willy_nilly: I apologize if my ramblings make no sense at all lol
  3. I can't answer your questions (have CW primer, but haven't used it yet), but I thought I'd mention the 15% off coupon that Lulu emailed today (good through 2/3 - SHADOW). It would only be $85 :)
  4. Instead of modifying a deck of playing cards, I'm going to print my own. Does it matter if they are all black, or should I print the hearts/diamonds in red? The directions didn't say (using 1A), but I'd hate for a game to come up using the different colors.
  5. I've never lived there, but recently did a lot of research because we were considering it. This forum was very helpful!
  6. Sorry that happened :( I had the same experience with Staples.
  7. I've got mad google skills. :D "childrens books search by geographic location" It didn't pull up the exact site, but it pulled up a site that linked to it (last one).
  8. Ahh, I think this is it (you got me curious so I had to google it lol) http://www.dawcl.com/search.asp
  9. Book Adventure? This doesn't sound like the exact one you are looking for, but its pretty handy.
  10. I just placed an order with SmithHand for my dd11, but haven't received it yet. If you search, there's a thread/review on it in this forum. It sounds like it might fit what you are looking for. edited to add link - http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79591&highlight=smithhand
  11. Same here. Not only have I not enjoyed poetry, but it grates on my nerves. I just don't like it (and I know I don't understand it lol). Like you, I want more for my kids. Just from briefly reading through Building Poems, I'm already more open to studying poetry for my own benefit. Just a few minutes ago I ordered Music of the Hemispheres so we don't miss out on anything :D
  12. You should check out the Exploring Creation series from Apologia. We've used the astronomy and zoology 1 books and enjoyed both a lot. It keeps the content exciting and experiments are great too. The kits from homesciencetools.com are very nice (they sell the books too).
  13. For really tough grease stains, I sometimes use a little WD40. I just let it sit for 10 minutes then scrub it out with Dawn (it even works for grease stains that have gone through the washer & dryer already).
  14. Printing them to PDF would probably be the best thing, that way you can just email the file for her to print. If you don't already have something on your computer to do it, you can download CutePDF for free. When you go to print something it shows up as another printer, only it then asks you where you want to save the file.
  15. I was in the Psych program. I didn't get my degree though. I still have a couple semesters worth to go. I couldn't put into it what I knew I should, so I'm putting it off for when I can focus on it a bit more.
  16. I really liked that! I'm a former LU online student myself. :)
  17. Like this... If I had more time, I could probably manage it. The costume they gave me isn't much of a costume anyway - black pants, red cape, matador hat. I bet I could throw together the above look except for the jacket (and hat too). I'm not sure what I would do for that. *sigh* I've been caught up with my dd's ballet recital the past week, I didn't pay any attention to their costume choice for my son. It's okay - he's 5 lol I really don't think he, or anyone else but me, cares :tongue_smilie:
  18. This is probably too late to do anything, but I just thought of asking the hive today. My son's part in a Christmas play is talking about Christmas traditions in Spain. They have him dressed like a bullfighter and I am not thrilled with that. Can anyone point me towards some clothing styles that I might be able to put together in a very short amount of time (definitely no-sew)? edited to add - I guess rather than traditional, because I assume their clothing style isn't THAT different, I'm looking for something "culturally significant".
  19. TB = terabyte. It's going to take us a while to fill it up. It's about 6 times bigger than the Apple TVs internal harddrive (which is 160gb I believe). I don't think you can plug an external harddrive directly into the Apple TV, it will only use an external harddrive if iTunes does (while plugged into the computer). I didn't want yet another thing plugged into our computer though. With the Apple TV (or any device like it....PS3 included) it will require internet access for things like system updates. But, if you can wirelessly network your computer with it, internet shouldn't be a problem. One thing I read in reviews when deciding though, was that if used wirelessly it lags a bit as the data is streamed. I was worried about the same thing happening with the PS3, but I haven't noticed it yet.
  20. We almost bought it, but went with a PS3 instead. The PS3 will play various file formats from a folder or harddrive of your choice (also has an internal harddrive). Which is good because I'm not a fan of iTunes. I'd hate to have to run everything through it. Right now I have our PS3 set up to use our iMac as the "media server". We have a TB harddrive to store all of our media on (supposedly this can also be plugged directly into the PS3, but we haven't done that yet). It also works with Netflix instant play. Plus, the PS3 has this neat feature that lets you play games :tongue_smilie: There is software out there that will rip a DVD if it doesn't come with the digital copy, but I don't know what the legalities of that are. I always assumed that if you own the title, its okay to make a copy......but, you know what they say about assuming lol That article is great.....I'll have to show that to dh.
  21. I like the BabyHawk and Ergo (I never used the Ergo for a newborn, it can be done though). I like the concept of wraps, but I did not like the Moby (only one I tried). The fabric had WAY too much give. I'd like to try a woven wrap someday. Just keep in mind that some carriers (like Baby Bjorn), when used facing out, leave the baby's legs dangling and that can be bad for the hips/legs. I used my mei tai (BabyHawk) from the beginning :) You just put the baby on your chest in the "frog leg" position, and the feet tuck under the bottom (like this).
  22. I didn't read all the responses (not even close), but I read enough to be shocked so many people turn their nose up at the idea of someone giving to charity in their name. I won't say much more than that, I'm just really surprised. I would love for someone to do that for me. With the kids...that's a different story, sort of. I would love for someone to do that with the kids, but if its not something they can relate to (or if there isn't a little something extra for them), its not really a gift for them. I don't expect children to fully appreciate the concept. ETA - Just wanted to add, I do agree that any gift given should be something they care for, or at least neutral. If it is done for an organization the receiver is known to not support, its not a gift at all. That's just passive-aggressive.
