  1. I had read on a previous post that you can do almost everything you can on the new Ipod Nano that you can on an Ipod Touch. Could someone elaborate on this? Can you purchase apps for the 7th generation Ipod Nano? Any info would be appreciated.
  2. Is so used the Alton Brown recipe for the first time last year and everyone loved it. It was so juicy!
  3. has anyone ever used this and can compare to the Pillsbury roll out crust. I do not make my own crust, tried a few times and just don't do it. I saw online that Trader Joe's were better than Pillsbury. Any thoughts?
  4. gas had been slowly going down the past few weeks. On Tuesday, election day, it was $2.97. Wednesday, the day after, it jumped to $3.19. My dh predicted that would happen.
  5. is there anything out there that is 3g that you would not have to purchase a monthly data plan. I need something that you can use facetime with to buy for my dd who lives 24 hours away and is expecting her first baby. We have an Ipad and we love facetime with my 2 granddaughters in Tennessee. I don't want to purchase anything out there though that would require a monthly fee. They do not have Internet in her house, she has to go to the shop building, to access the Internet. Anything out there that would give her access to the internet and facetime?
  6. Two months after my mom passed away (23 years ago) my dad started dating a woman and went on to marry her right after the year anniversary of my mom's death. It was hard, but some people just can't be alone. They were married almost twenty years before she passed away unexpectedly. Two months before she died I told her that I was very glad my dad had her all those years. My dad passed away at the beginning of July. My best friend told me that people who had good marriages are most likely to remarry within the first couple of years.
  7. Thanksgiving has turned into the holiday when all my kids come home. It is the only time of the year I get to see my dd and her dh that live 24 hours away in Montana. I have 4 dc who live in different parts of the country, so they all come home. It is always nice and we can't wait. Two of my dd's are expecting in February (the one in Montana is expecting her first, and the one in Tennesse is expecting her third, a boy! after two girls.) So we will all be together. I have 10 dc, two wonderful son-in-laws, and two absolutely adorable granddaugthers. Makes for a full house, but we love it!!!! Lots to do between now and then.
  8. last year my granddaughters' other grandma got them an Ipad for Christmas. They had just turned 1 and 2. They definitely knew what to do. My dd and her dh just replaced their Iphone 4's with Iphone 5's. They are turning their 4's into Ipod touches for the girls in the car.
  9. my nephew, who is now 24, was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at the age of 18 months. He also had an incredible thirst and lost weight, so I hope they are checking for that. My granddaughter, who will be 2 next month, weighs 22 lbs. She is not as tall as your son, but is very petite. Hope everything shows up fine and he is just a skinny guy.
  10. One of my standard "company" meals: Mini Cheddar Meatloaves Mashed potatoes with cheese Green beans with onion and bacon Rolls Sometimes I also have Baked Apples. Everyone loves this meal. Another one that everyone likes is my Garlic Beef Enchiladas.
  11. so would you stick to Algebra: A Fresh Approach or should I go back to TT. Yes, I do agree with curriculum jumping. It is so easy when our dc are struggling to think that maybe we picked a curriculum that does not fit their learning style.
  12. okay, my 9th grade dd is really struggling with Algebra. We started with Algebra: A Fresh Approach and she really struggled. She is doing LOF Beginning Algebra until I figure out what to do next. She is doing okay, not great, but okay. I'm not sure where to turn next. Here are the options I am considering: 1. Lial's - I have this and she did use some of the BCM, but I am worried that the layout would overwhelm her. 2. TT - she did use TT7 a couple of years ago, but felt she did not learn anything. Beginning to think this might be my first option. 3. Kinetic Algebra - I have this, not the homeschool version. 4. Tutor - we know a young lady who was a high school math teacher, but quit when she had her baby last March. I would consider asking her to tutor no matter what option I choose. If you use a tutor, how much do you pay and how often do you get together. Any insight would be so helpful right now.
  13. Does anyone know if AG stores have big sales the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving? My dd bought my gd's Bitty Babies for Christmas and we want to buy accessories for them. They will be here for Thanksgiving and since they opened the store in St. Louis, we might try and see if they have sales.
  14. I just got my RR order of Hake Grammar 7. I switched from KISS grammar because it wasn't working for my ds. Does anyone let their kids write in the book?
  15. if you have a patio, rollerblades are good. We have alot of outside games that my dc play with. Bean bag toss, washers, crochet, ladderball. They play catch alot, football.
  16. I have used Edu-Track for years and do all my lesson planning on it. Two weeks ago it quit letting me into the program. I have tried to contact the company three times for tech support and have heard nothing from them. So, I am needing to find another program to do my lesson planning and log my hours. I have looked at Homeschool Tracker and have a couple of questions for anyone who uses this program. 1. Does HT automatically compute the hours? We have to log a certain number of hours here in Missouri. Does it log core and non-core separately and then combine them in total hours? 2. Can I add titles of subjects or is there just a list of subjects to choose from? 3. Do you use the online version or HT+? 4. Is there another program you use and would recommend?
  17. My 14 yo DD has been making items out of colored and printed duct tape that are really cute! She has made a wallet, a couple different patterns of clutch purses, and wrapped a pen with a rose at the end. Just google for ideas. They really are cute!
  18. I received mine last week too. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but we will start in a couple of weeks.
  19. my dd and her family live in Clarksville. My SIL grew up there. We love visiting them. They recently moved further out so we get off at the Ft. Campbell exit now and see the seedier side, but it really is just a small portion of Clarksville. I really like the area. We live in St. Louis. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I will ask my dd. They are building their dream home and will have 6 acres.
  20. I would also like to see them, may11family@sbcglobal.net. Thanks.
  21. I have a dear friend whose grandson was stillborn last week. I do not know her son, we are just friends not our families. I would like to give her something to remember him by. Any ideas?
  22. could you explain the program a little bit to me. Is there a textbook? What components are online?
  23. we too are dealing with a house and a car that was not moved into the trust. I have learned alot.
  24. my dad passed away July 1st. He had been sick for awhile, so it was expected, but you still are never prepared. He truly believed he had all his finances and trust in order to make things easy, simple, cut and dry for all of us. Unfortunately, that was not the case. There are his natural children and stepchildren. New complications arise every day. I am one of the co-trustees and was talking today to the estate lawyer we retained. She commented that in 36 years of being a lawyer this was the most complicated, complex case she has ever seen. Not what you want to hear from your lawyer!
