  1. my 25 yo dd was walking across the street and twisted her ankle on uneven concrete on the curb. This was on Thursday. She has been icing it and keeping it elavated from Friday night on. The swelling has gone down. It is very black and blue. She is wondering if she should go to the doctor tomorrow to make sure it is not broken. What do you think?
  2. my dd is taking the ACT of Saturday. From what I can tell on the website, you can use the TI-82 but it doesn't specifically list it. Does anyone know for sure.
  3. my family loves to play crochet (spelling?). It is a big hit and all ages can play.
  4. As you can see from my other post, I am trying to decide between LFC and Lively Latin. Tell me your likes and dislikes of Lively Latin. Also, how teacher independent is it. I am looking at this for my 5th, 6th graders.
  5. I am trying to decide between LFC and Lively Latin. I like the fact that LFC has the DVDs. Please tell me your experience with LFC, what you like about it, how easy it is to use, and also what you dislike about it.
  6. Is there any reason I cannot sell my Rosetta Stone? We are having our used curriculum sale tomorrow and I was going to put it out to sell.
  7. The Duggars are coming to our conference in a couple of weeks. Their children are going to perfrom during the praise and worship segment. Can't wait to hear what they say. I understand this is the first homeschool conference they have spoken at. One of their workshops is a question and answer period. Should be interesting!!
  8. Jean, you might want to check out a book written by very good friends of mine. It is available at most homeschool stores. The title is College without Compromise, by Scott and Kris Wightman. Their son recieved a bachelors degree in business by distance learning.
  9. I am going to do Latin next year with my 5th and 6th graders. I am trying to choose between LC 1, Latin for Children, or maybe Latin Prep 1. Could anyone compare these programs, or tell me which program they are using and why they like it. I have a little Latin knowledge, but not much.
  10. I know last week someone posted about wanting to find a Wii. I had started watching for them to buy my daughter and future husband one for Christmas (they will be married in November). I was at Target and they had 2. I bought one. Then I went to Best Buy to buy a movie and could not believe it when they had a display of Wii's! There was at least 18. Alot of stores had them in their ads this week. Just wanted to let you know if your interested.
  11. Some of you might remember my post from a month ago. My oldest dd is getting married in November. She went to the bridal store and found a lovely dress with a lace overlay. But it was strapless, as was all the dresses in the store. She considered having a jacket made for it. After trying more dresses on she decided to go with another style. Our intention was to find different features in the dresses she tried on and have our seamstress (who has a degree in fashion design) combine and design a dress for her. At one bridal store she tried on a dress by Jasmine Bridal. She fell in love with the dress! And it fit her very well. We were going to try and have the seamstress duplicate this dress. On looking at the Jasmine Bridal website to try and get pictures of this dress, I saw off in the corner a link that said "Temple Ready". I clicked on it had was amazed that they would take certain of their best selling dresses and add a top. You could choose what type of neckline and length of sleeves. Her dress was on the list! We ordered it from a bridal shop last week. They only charge $100 extra to do this. Sorry this got long, but I wanted to encourage you that there are options out there. There were other modest bridal dress websites, but the dresses were rather plain. My dd got the dress of her dreams and was able to have it made modest.
  12. I have a friend who homeschooled her granddaughter for 10th-12th and the granddaughter now attends College of the Ozarks. She really likes the school and is very much challenged by the classes.
  13. Thanks everyone for all you ideas. I am going to check a few of them out. Will keep you updated.
  14. Yes, we would use the lace and the satin underlay of the second dress to make the jacket.
  15. My dd will be getting married in November. She is looking at wedding dresses. We are conservative dressers and she does not want strapless. The church would not allow it anyway. All you can find at bridal stores are strapless. We have a seamstress that makes wedding dresses. She went to try on dresses to find the style that she likes and fell in love with a dress from Davids Bridal. It is an a-line dress with a full beaded lace overlay. She loves this lace! We have searched online for the lace but cannot find it. This is one option we thought of and would like your opinion. We would buy 2 dresses and the seamstress could use the second dress to make a jacket for the dress. The jacket would have to be enclosed to have a higher neckline. Not real high, but the top of the dress would not be showing at all. I would do a link to the dress, but do not know how! If you could go to davidsbridal.com and look up dress style CT2406 and let me know what you think of our idea, I would greatly appreciate the help. I have never seen a bride wear a jacket and just don't know how it would look. Opinions needed!
