  1. we bought a NordicTrak last year from Sears for $800. I love it. It was their middle of the line. I can plug my mp3 player in it. It has gotten alot of use this past year and continues to do so.
  2. Can you post the name of the book? I didn't know all the workbox threads came from a book, I just thought they were someone's brilliant idea.
  3. I just bought this at a conference last week. I was not really looking for a science curriculum, but saw this and was very impressed. I am using it with a 6th and 7th grader. Two of my friends bought this also. Lessons look short and very doable with hands on activities that look fun and doable. I especially loved the look of Inventions and Technology. Hope this helps.
  4. I'm one of the organizers of the conference, so I will definitely be there. Look for me around the registration table. I will have a nametag on that says CHEF Treasurer - Teresa May. If you see me, introduce yourself.
  5. thanks for answering my original question. Can you tell me why you chose the Cabrio over a front loader? Were you also considering a front loader and after research decided to go with the Cabrio? Thanks for any info you can give me. I am torn between the Cabrio and a front loader. This is so much money, I don't want to make the wrong decision.
  6. Okay, we need a new gas grill. I was looking at the at Home Depot and saw the infrared grills. They are supposed to be good for grilling the meat on the outside and keeping the juices in. Anyone have one or another gas grill they can recommend?
  7. Okay, I have done my research and have narrowed it down to the Samsung Front Loader or the Whirlpool Cabrio? I can't make up my mind. Any thoughts on either one. Thanks, I hate making these decisions.
  8. My kids bought my dh a White Mountain last year for Father's Day and it is wonderful. We got the 6 qt. model because there are 12 of us. It finally makes enough for all of us. We have had many ice cream makers and this is definitely the best!!!
  9. Thanks everyone. Looks like you either love the front loader or hate it. Doesn't seem to be an in between. Anyone with Whirlpool Cabrio?
  10. Okay, my washing machine is on its last leg and needs to be replaced. I am just beginning to research. I need all the pros and cons of front loader washing machines. I have read about the problem of mildew on the door gaskets. So please lay it all on the line, what do you love and what do you hate about your washing machine? Also, does anyone have the Whirpool Cabrio? Is this an in between of a top loader and a front loader? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  11. Okay, I am in Chicago for another two days. We did downtown yesterday. Our hotel is in Oakbrook Terrace. What is there to do in the area without going far or downtown. Anyone?
  12. I got this recipe from my mom over 30 years ago. Everyone loves it!!! I make it for all our graduation parties and it disappears fast. It feeds alot. Overnight Salad 1 head lettuce 1 bag baby spinach 1/2 diced red onion 1 lb. bacon, cooked and crumbled 6 hard boiled eggs, halved and sliced 12 oz. shredded chedder cheese 1 cup miracle whip or mayo (whichever you prefer) 1 cup sour cream 1 pack hidded valley ranch dressing mix Layer salad ingredients. Mix mayo and sour cream with dressing mix. Spread over salad. Let sit overnight. Set out about 10-15 minutes before you serve. Mix and serve. (You need to mix it alot to get the dressing spread evenly through the salad/
  13. I am in Missouri, but I will be praying for a very uneventful hurricane season. We just returned a couple of weeks ago from going to Florida for the first time and I can only imagine what it would look like after a hurricane.
  14. My dh is going to Chicago next week for a conference for work. The conference runs Monday-Wednesday. Two others from work will be going with him. One of the other wives has suggested we go with them, find things to do during the day and they will be able to do things with us in the evenings. We will be staying in a hotel in Oakbrook Terrace, which is about 30 minutes outside of downtown Chicago. Now is a very busy time for me. I help coordinate our homeschool conference, which is two weeks later. What kind of things are there to do in Chicago? Would it be worth it for me to go? If the other two wives go, my dh will definitely want me to go also. Would you go if you could. We each would have a very nice suite. I have older kids (in their twenties) to help watch the younger ones.
  15. have you looked at Spellwell, made by the same company as ETC. It is for grades 2-5. RR carries them. You use two books a year. We like it alot. Very similar to ETC but focuses on spelling.
  16. I am trying to decide between Horizons Math and CLE Math for my 4th and 6th grader. They have both used A Beka in the past, but I want to use something else. I bought both 4th and 6th grade Horizons at Used Book Sale, and am now questioning whether I want to use CLE. Can someone who has used both, or just one of them, tell me why they like it. I was going to combine Horizons with Math Mammoth for my 4th grader and use LOF Fractions, and then decimals along with Horizons with my 6th grader. I hate making these decisions!!!
  17. I would like info on the Best of series by Hewitt.
  18. I ordered a few things also. They have billed my cc but I have not received the items yet. I have been wondering also.
  19. Can someone tell me where you buy Sadlier-Oxford Vocabulary? I am also trying to find samples of these books. What grade levels have you used? Can someone compare these to Wordly Wise 3000? One more question, do you need the teachers books and I assume these contain the answers. Thanks in advance.
  20. Does she have CVS? Is this another term for abdominal mirgraines? I have a friend whose teen daughter has CVS. She spent 1 1/2 years trying to find help for her. She was finally led to one of the few doctors in the country that have knowledge and works with patients with CVS. He is an elderly doctor in Columbia, Missouri. He was the only doctor who actually helped her daughter. If you want more information I can see if I can hook you up with her.
  21. We received one as a gift a couple of years ago and have never used it. It seems like you would need alot of chocolate. Is this the case and is it expensive?
