  1. Can anyone tell me their thoughts and experiences with Trail Guide to U.S. Geography? Did you like it? Did your kids like it? What ages did you use it for? I am considering using it with our American History program.
  2. My ds used Christian Lights. It was very good. It has a textbook, then light units you use with it. A good introductory course.
  3. In October 2002 my husband and teenage sons added a full story to our ranch house to make it a two story house. We had 10 kids and it was either add on or move. We choose to add on. It involved taking off the roof, adding floor joists and everything else you can imagine. I agree with Happygirls three points. It is doable and I cannot imagine not having the space we have now. My dh and sons did all the work, except installing a new, bigger electrical panel because you needed to be a licsensed eletrician for that. He did do all the plumbing and other electrical work by taking tests with the county and getting permission. All of the inspections that we had to have went very well, except the one for the electrical panel!!! The inspectors were very impressed with my dh's work. There were a few accidents, minor, and it was stressful. It took about 2 1/2 years which wasn't bad considering my dh worked a full time job at the same time. He did use his two weeks vacation those years doing nothing but working constantly.
  4. I would definitely choose A. the WOW neighborhood and the tons and tons of space would do it for me! You might even be able to find activities for the kids close by. I would drive the 30 miles.
  5. I am in St. Ann, a suburb of St. Louis. I am one of the organizers of the CHEF Conference so will be there the entire time plus more!!!
  6. How can you find K12 Human Odyssey used on ebay. Can someone provide an ISBN # or a publisher?
  7. Thanks, I think I'll use JAG with my 6th grader. I already have it.
  8. I have a 6th gr. and a 7th gr. Could they both start AG this year or should I wait a year for the 6th gr?
  9. I am using them with my 7th grader and was wondering if my 6th grader could do them too? Are all the books the same level or is it best to do some books first?
  10. I live in St. Louis and as a child spent almost every weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks. Around the Sunshine beach area too. I have not been back for many years but hear the lake on the weekends are very busy. Would you be able to offer programs to families during the week that they can use vacation time? Do you have a website? Is the resort functioning now? I would be interested if you get something lined up. One suggestion might be to get a booth at our CHEF conference in June with flyers and information. You could really get the word out that way. Let me know if you might be interested in this and I can get you information.
  11. my ds will be in 4th grade next year. He has not done much writing and is working through WWE level 1 this year. I am putting him in WWE 2 next year. It does not take him long to do. I want to include IEW's new All about Fun (title not exactly correct). Has anyone used 2 programs at the same time?
  12. I had #10 at age 43. He just turned 6 years old. I say go for it!!!
  13. Rainbow Resource is showing answer keys for the US edition. There is one key for 1-3 grades and one key for 4-6. They are just the answers, not solutions. They are very cheap too. I think the Intensive practice and the CWP have the answers in the book.
  14. I am considering using the PASS test for my 6th gr. dd. Do you know if the results will give you grade level scores. Sorry for piggybacking on your question.
  15. I have the IEW American History theme based book. A friend loaned me her level 4 Meaningful Comp. book to look at. The problem - I like both. My dd's are fininshing WT 2 (which we loved, wish there was a WT 3 coming!). I need something all set up and ready to go. Has anyone used both and which do you prefer?
  16. Linda, My dd's are finishing up WT2. A friend loaned me Meaningful Composition level4 and 6 this weekend to look it over. Does MC 4 seem to be the right place to start after WT2 or is it alot of repeat?
  17. if you look on the K-8 board you will see a post on the ISBN numbers for the CD books and where you can order them for cheaper.
  18. I'm going to print out the Light blue series books this summer for next school year. I have a printer the prints double sided. I'm going to take them to Office Depot and get a spiral binding put on it.
  19. my ds is using the Live and Learn lapbook with Swimming Creatures of the earth and really likes it. It has worked well.
  20. I think it looks good. I am going to use both MM and LOF for my 5th grader next year.
