  1. A little while back someone posted about a new American literature program that I really liked the looks of. My computer crashed and I lost all my bookmarks. I can't remember too much about it other than there were going to come out with a British literature program next. Any one have any idea what program this was? I have searched and can't find it.
  2. I need to buy a new laptop. You can still find a few laptops with Windows 7 on them, but they would not be my first choice. I read the previous thread about the dislike of Windows 8. So would you buy your first choice with Windows 8 or a scond or third choice with Windows 7. Would it make a difference to know that I am not too computer literate! LOL. Also, I usually buy Toshiba laptops and have been very happy with them. I cannot find one with Windows 7. The ones I found with Windows 7 are Dell and Asus. Any experiences with these brands?
  3. We had Mini Chedder Meatloaves, mashed potatoes with cheese, green beans with bacon, and mini garlic monkey bread rolls. Its a family favorite meal here!
  4. Could you tell me what Pre-algebra program you are using?
  5. Do you or anyone else have any information on when the Apologia Elem Chemistry/Physics book will be coming out?
  6. I am talking about places like a professional hockey stadium or a movie theatre. I have always tried to avoid these type of places when there is a lot of flu (both kinds) out there. We have 10 kids, 5 still remaining at home. It takes forever for the flu bugs to make the rounds of all of us. So, who avoids large crowds.
  7. my dd is 34 weeks pregnant. She knows she has a kidney stone on her left side. She started having back pain and some spotting. Her doc sent her to Labor and Delivery. She had protein in her urine. The said the kidney stone must of moved a bit causing the spotting and the protein in the urine. She has had no more pain or spotting so hopefully it will stay put for a few more weeks.
  8. my dh is an outside contractor and does alot of work in hospitals. He does not come in direct contact with the patients. About three years ago the hospitals started requiring outside contractors to provide written verification that they have received the flu shot. They also require a yearly TB test. Up until then we never got the flu shots. He hates being told he has to get one, but he gets it. He has a very good paying job. He cannot risk his job by not getting one. I got one this year for the first time because I have a grandson that will be born the beginning of February and I will be taking care of my two granddaughters and helping my dd who will be moving around the same time. I can understand the point of view for those who have loved ones in the hospital, especially when you can be contagious the day before symptoms start.
  9. They hooked her up to IV. She has ketones in her urine, borderline UTI. Blood in urine probably due kidney stone.
  10. thanks everyone, she is waiting on blood and urine results, will update when I know anything.
  11. Thanks everyone, she took an OTC urinary tract infection test and it showed positive for a high White blood cell count. She called her doctor and said he thought it was an infection but wanted her to go to labor and delivery so they could do a culture and monitor the baby awhile. Prayers would be appreciated.
  12. Some of you might remember my post a couple of days ago about my dd making the trip here at 33.5 weeks pregnant. They came last night in what was a rough trip weatherwise. They were completely wrong with the forecast and they drove through snow for about 2 1/2 hours. So they finally arrived and about an hour later my dd came to be and said she had some dark brown spotting on her pantyliner. It stopped after a couple of times. No other problems until now when she said it has returned and it a little heavier. She is laying down now. The baby is moving fine. She also has had a little burning when going to the bathroom. Her lower back was hurting last night a little. She has a history of kidney stones. She is wondering what to do. They will be going back home probably tomorrow. Do you think she should risk going to the ER or wait and call her doctor when she gets back home if it continues?
  13. she has delivered both her dd's at exactly 38 weeks.
  14. Absolutely it is her choice and I am thrilled they are coming!!! I guess its just the mother in me that worries. I have not said anything to her except to let her know they do not have to come if she gets to feel it would be too much for her. She has a 2 yo and 3 yo dd's. I let her know that if for any reason she feels like it would be better to stay home, I would not be upset. She just got over a bad cold that left her with a cough for over three weeks. She is pretty worn out. I decided long ago that I would never be the mother that pressure my kids to come home on any certain date and I have stuck to that. They all know that they are welcomed here at any time that they are able to make it. My mom was very adamant that we go to her house on certain dates, mainly all holidays and I was determined I was not going to do that to my kids. My dd and her dh said from the beginning that it was important to them that their dc wake up at their house on Christmas morning, so I know they will never be here on Christmas. I completely support and respect that decision. So if we don't get together until January or even February, that is okay.
  15. my dd and her family are traveling to our house this weekend so we can celebrate Christmas. She is 33 1/2 weeks pregnant with her 3rd. It is a 4 to 4 1/2 hour drive one way. Her doctor said not to travel the last 5-6 weeks. She is fine with it, I am a little nervous for her. How far in your pregnancy would you travel that far?
  16. My dad passed away July 1st, so I understand your feelings. Last year my brother tragically passed away in November so it was a very sad Christmas for us too.
  17. can you remove the screen protector and use another one?
  18. I got an Iphone 4!!!!! It is my first Iphone. I am wanting a case for it. I like the Otterbox defender except I do not want a screen protector on it because I want to get a Ghost Armor one on. Does anyone have a Speck. My dd has one on hers and says its ok. Any other suggestions?
  19. I am getting my first iPhone and was looking at the otter box defender. Is there away to take the screen protector off the case. I want to get a ghost armour screen protector put on it.
  20. can those who have them tell me what size you have - would an 8 gb be sufficient?
  21. The $200 will be a joint gift. I would never give $150 to my dd and then $50 to my son-in-law. We love both our sons-in-law very much and would never make them feel otherwise. We would do things differently if my dh was not out of work for 4 months this year with a major injury and two surgeries that he is still recovering from. For my dc at home we do not buy things throughout the year except for birthdays. We keep all birthdays at $50 each, including the sons-in-law. My older dc have even stated not to get them anything because they are well aware of how things are. I just can't bring myself to not get them anything and this is what we came up with. As far as the grandchildren, we spend $75 each. I do not feel this is extravagant. I get them specific items that my dd requests, this year it is the Bitty Baby cribs and a couple of small items.
  22. I have two dd who are married. My one dd has my two absolutely adorable granddaughters. Both dd's are expecting in February. So my family is definitely growing. I am wondering how you treat your dc spouses as far as budgeting for Christmas. My parents and my in-laws both spent the same amount on the spouses as their other children. That is basically what I have done so far. What I spent per child, I also spent same amount on my sons-in-law. But, I am doing it a little different this year, mainly because my family will continue to grow. I have 10 dc with 5 still at home. Another dd lives across the street from us in our rental. (she does pay us rent). So, here is what I have done this year. On the dc who are not married, we will end up spending about $150 per child. On my married dd's we are spending about $200 for both. We will spend about $75 per grandchild. So, not spending equal amounts on the spouses, but more on their family than the amount spending per child. (Hope this makes sense, LOL) I am curious how others are handling this?
